Correct me if I'm Wrong but I don't think this situation will end up like the dmc situation:
1. The cap is predicted to go sky high which gives us as well as other teams more money to use in free agency
2. We will have plenty of cap to get Baze back because we CAN go over the salary cap to retain horford since we own his FULL bird rights.
3. Ressler has already said he's willing to go into the lux tax if need be several times....he may have to literally eat those words this next off season with the way Baze has improved
Redsler has said he is willing to go over the cap. I have seen nothing where he said he would go in to the luxury tax.
It's true that we should have plenty of room to sign baze. The problem is we will have to use our cap to do so. That's going to be 10-15 million or more if he continues to play like this.

I just hope this 2 year contract doesn't bite us in the ass.

Is korver actually playing tonight? Viv has him listed in the lineup on his game thread

Dude didn't you hear? Every Charlotte restaurant plays the Bobcats/Hornets games. Not sure why Atlanta is soooooo shitty that a random BBQ joint was playing a game on ESPN. Just unreal.
We will let @Dolfan23 settle this debate. Let us know what you think about the crowd participation tonight Dolf.

Bob and The Stinger.
And instead we're stuck with Nique. Get him off the air already.

Bazemore > DMC so far
Agreed. DMC had an awful game last night for Toronto. 3/15 FG 1/5 3pt 1 Reb in 36 minutes and a team worse -15 +/-

I figured the game would be on at Fat Matt's but I guess not. Well we ended up at Taco Mac's. It's pretty dead in here but at least the game is on multiple TVs.
One thing I have to say is that everyone has been super nice here in Atlanta but man I think I've seen 1 person with any Hawks gear on. I don't think I've seen any Hawks billboards or anything yet around here which is crazy as there is Rockets crap everywhere in Houston.
Nah man. The lack of care is a common thing in every city.
At least that's what ATLiens will try to tell you.

Why do we consistently suck so bad at defense in the 3rd quarter

Well so much for that. Thabo is now inactive tonight.

I thought the NBA was working on fixing their scheduling ... I guess that is not the case for the Hawks ... we are about to play our third back to back already and the season is only a week and half old ... before last night Minny had only played 3 games while we had 6 in the books.
At least it is at the start of the season
Well it's just beginning. We have two 4 game in 5 night stretches this month while the league average is only like .95 per team. So there are some teams with none.
We will have played 20 games by the end of November. The good thing is these fist 20 games are loaded with lottery teams. We will have longer rest periods for the tougher stretches of the year when we are playing the contenders.

Im going to this game too! Really excited for big grams
I ended up selling my tickets to a friend since I have a wedding to attend tomorrow. I hate that I'm missing Big Boi and a possible Squawkmeet.

Toronto has looked good, but Derozen has stretches where he can't make a shot and Lowry is a bit off in the head....they will probably self destruct around march or april like every other year
It is only five games in but nothing has changed my view (so far) that it will be the hawks and cavs in the ecf
The thing that sets the Hawks and Cavs a part from the Wiz and Raps is depth.

The Pels are about to get smoked if they both play

Ahh, see my bad. Because when you said:
I took that to mean you were upset at the lack of attendance for opening night. Ya know, since you complained about the game not being sold out and all.
Opening night yes. A Brooklyn game on Wednesday no. Read the thread and this should be clear.

Well, it was a Tuesday. At 8 o'clock. Against the Pistons.
It's something to monitor, but I am certainly not sold on the idea that 8 o'clock weekday games are going to be the greatest for attendance numbers (who is to say they want to maximize attendance anyway?). And if Koonin is backing the change in start time up with research then that's something I'd like to know what they did to figure it out.
But you're attempting to point out something "unique" (or something to that effect) about Atlanta when 1) no it's not at all "unique" to have fans not show up or 2) have a team fudge attendance numbers. We go through this every year, but there is nothing out of the ordinary about the fans in Atlanta. The fans all around the country are all about the same, but they all face different costs and options for attending a sporting event. If getting the "fans" like in Cleveland is what you want, then go move to a shitty city with high unemployment, low wages, and nothing else to do.
Added: also, what other business blames the customers for poor sales? "Oh shit Bill, our volume of sales for the Zune isn't what we expected because our dumb idiot consumers won't show up and buy them!"
I've already said I understand the lack of attendance and that the lack of fan participation was the issue.

Wait, you actually believe the sellout numbers for the heat?
Of course I don't. Just like I don't believe that the Hawks sold out on opening night.
I mean come on. The team just had the best season in franchise history and the fans can't even sell out opening night. I can understand a game vs Brooklyn on a Wednesday but opening night? Pathetic.

Hawks fans are always their own worst critics. Miami looked 1/3 empty the other night, and that game was for the SE Division lead. And Miami is supposedly this "Major League City" we keep hearing so much about. It's not just Atlanta.....
I thought the same until I actually experienced a game at a different arena. Hornets fans are louder for regular season games than Hawks fans are for playoff games.
It's not even about having sellout crowds. I just wish the crowd that is there would act like they want to be there. Get behind the home team and give them that extra energy when they are struggling instead of only getting hype when Harry brings out 5 free tshirts.
As for Miami, they just had their 200th straight sellout and that crowd gets loud when it's needed.

Teague was the most obvious last night. He coasted through the first 3 quarters before putting the team on his back through the first half of the final quarter. I wonder if that hand is still bothering him or if it's just Teague being Teague.

Making the opponent look good without burying them, pulling out the victory in the waning moments of the game, all while giving their fans hope to drive back home with. Didn't Ric Flair make a career out of doing this???
Speaking of Ric Flair, ESPN is making a 30 for 30 on him.
WOOOOOO!!!!!

I would say over half the crowd showed up after 8 and only 70% of the seats were full, at most.
Harry, the cheerleaders, Sir Foster and a video tried to hype up the crowd and get them to chant ATL, at the break between the 3rd and 4th, when the Hawks were up 2 and you barely heard a peep. Harry came out with the t-shirt gun late in the fourth, when the game was under control, and the crowd went nuts. Atlanta fans SUCK.
The trio of thabo, Bazemore and Holiday is probably the best defensive trio of wings in the nba.
Teague straight owned the beginning of the 4th quarter. Forced Nets defenders in to 4 quick fouls, scored like 8 points and had a few nice assists.
I thought Splitter played better than his and Lopez box scores would suggest. He did a great job of containing Lopez in the first half before Lopez went on a tear in the 3rd quarter but the refs did him no favors.
I can't wait to see how good we can be once Korver gets his legs under him. A knockdown 3 pt shooter is the glaring missing piece right now. A heathy Korver will also mean less of Teague/Dennis together.

Teague straight took the game over at the beginning of the 4th.
The refs were baying lopez while letting him hack our guys on the other end.

I'm not buying the first line. Every year we hear that every team has gotten better and every year the same teams are mediocre at best.
