Love the game thread as usual! BroLo haha...I like that nickname. So Korver should be resting but I think it might not be a bad idea to rest Thabo as well. I don't think the Nets have nearly enough firepower against us.

    Hawks 117

    Nets 93

I don't think it will be close.

We need thabo in there. Joe might decide to bully folks if we stick undersized defenders on him all night.  Really, I just love watching Thabo play and don't want to miss out when I'm at the game.

  2. I haven't been able to watch the past 3 games and I'm in serious need of a Hawks fix. I hope tonight's trip to Phillips has a better outcome than opening night.

We will force the Nets to shoot more 3's than they want to and they will likely shoot a poor percentage while we cruise to our 5th win.

  3. Thabo finally gives us his side of the story.

"Everybody on my team had been counting on me. I don't get a lot of publicity for it because I never toot my own horn, but yeah, I think I'm possibly the best, or one of the best, defenders in this league. Not in a selfish way, but I like to think that maybe with me, we would have had a chance to win a title. I think I would have done a great job on LeBron [whose Cavs defeated the Hawks in the Conference Finals]. Watching my team from the bench was the worst experience a basketball player can have."

Hmmm, that's debatable (messin' witcha).  I hear you on the dual role thing.  I'm not totally sold on Wilcox as a GM.  Doesn't strike me as ... I don't know.  I'm sure he's schmart and all, I just can't see him leading a room (if that makes sense).

Agree we'll have to contend with Williams.  Seems like that typical semi-scrub that comes in and lights us up out of nowhere.  Hopefully he rests on the laurels of his nice game 1 performance.  Not so worried about sMelo.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit considering this is a 2nd of a back/2/back for them.

He has that choirboy look.  He just doesn't look like some one who can walk in to a room and instill confidence.

First home game of the year and Thabo is out.  You better believe that Melo will be out to put on a show.  The good thing is he can just as easily shoot them out of the game as he can win it for them.

    Stop it, Sparty.

Ah, JetS ... sit down buddy.  Sigh.   It's time to move on.  Danny Ferry is not walking through that door ...

I had moved on until Bud decided to trade the 15th pick for a player who can't even make the active roster.  I just have a general distrust in one person being both coach and GM and Wilcox looks like he would get owned in any negotiation.

    Now back to scheduled programming.

Melo is going to try to score 40 tonight and Derrick Williams is going to be a real problem if he is matched up vs Scott.  I would rather see us sit Thabo for the Charlotte game on Friday than tonight.

If the Bucks are supposed to be a solid playoff team (granted they were missing Giannis but still), then what was tonight's game? An aberration? The Knicks being a lot better than thought? The Bucks being overrated?

The bucks were also without parker and mayo.  That's 3 of the top 5 offensive players on an already very average offensive team.

  7. C-Viv hinted in his tweet that it was because of the back-to-back.  Expect Thabo to play on Friday vs Charlotte.

Derrick Williams is going to be a problem if we have to defend him with Scott for very long.  I'm watching the game and he is carrying the Knicks tonight.  Very active big body around the rim.  The exact type of player that gives us problems.

That may be true but I don't think either PG did a good job of quarterbacking the team tonight.  They have to set the tone/pace of the game and they didn't.

That's my issue with dennis. When he is on his game, he's scoring a ton but no one else is.

When Teague is on his game, everybody benefits.

  9. Even though I was close to pulling my hair out, I would like to add that it's just one game so everyone should

    R E L A X

This isn't college football and we looked alright in the first half.

Bazemore and Horford get to share tge Donkey of the Day for sure

  10. True, we have lost a very important piece but the most replaceable one.  Our bench is better and we have some rebounding and size now.  If our sf corps can step up then we have not taken a step back.  We might not win 60 games but we might be a better team.

I had to make my first transaction in the fantasy league and snatch up Bazemore just in time for the beginning of his breakout season.

  11. I don't know if DMC is overrated ... he just worked hard and fit our system perfectly.  He was the unheralded guy of our starters until he was able to get to the limelight.

Many of the "experts" are saying losing DMC will cause us to win about 10 games less.  Go on realgm and the common theme is DMC was our best defender and we will suffer greatly without him.  That is overrating him big time.

  12. call me crazy but I think bazemore can be better than DMC in buds system due to his athleticism being a lot better than DMC.

Once baze consistently knocks down that 3pt shot and continues to grow in buds system he will flourish BIG time. I think he's going to surprise many.

I agree 100%.  Demarre has become severely overrated after his hot postseason.  This is a guy that was in Baze's same spot 2 years ago and now people act like it's impossible for a player to improve like Demarre did.

I would say Baze is naturally a better athlete than Demarre.  He is just more fluid and quicker.  His dribble is also much better than Demarre's.

  13. Honestly, I think it's about Sef not being completely ready to roll and/or Bud being cautious... but the more positive spin is to chat up Baze.

I disagree.  I think the job is Baze's all year as long as he performs well.  It just makes sense to pair a younger player with a veteran on each unit.  We need a couple of vets coming in with Dennis and Thabo has been injury prone over the past 3 years.  Bud brought in the GSW training staff for a reason.  His main goal is to get to the playoffs healthy and the likelihood of Thabo going down increases significantly if he is playing 25+ minutes per game.
