As has already been covered, but Simmons is 6'9", not 6'11". He does still have a positive wingspan of 7'0", but he's just not built like a center. Plus, Simmons may be a Defensive Player of the Year candidate but he’s done that by his menacing perimeter defense, not his interior defense.

Defensively his strength is guarding perimeter players. He's great fighting through screens, guarding ball handlers on-ball, wings off-ball, mobile bigs that are perimeter oriented. Guarding the interior is a different skillset.

He lacks the strength the bang with centers full-time. But more importantly he's not a great help defender or rim protector, the two primary requirements of playing the 5 in most schemes.

Let's compare this to OO who is similar sized, although built differently. Okongwu's strengths are help defense, and rim protection, but what makes him an elite interior defender is also having the ability to step out on the perimeter and do a good job there too. But you wouldn't want to make OO a full-time perimeter defender, it's not his strength and you would be wasting what he is good at.

It's the opposite with Simmons. He's an elite perimeter defender, possibly the best in the world, that can also play some good interior defense. But you don't want him on the interior full-time because it's not his strength and you would be wasting what he is exceptional at.

A 6'9" perimeter defender that can guard on-ball and off-ball is a unicorn. A 6'9" guy that isn't a great rim protector or help defender is a dime a dozen in the NBA. THAT is why he isn't a center. It's not that he is completely incapable of doing it; it's that your taking him away from a position of greatness and moving him to a position of mediocrity.

I think there was some talk a few years ago that Simmons grew like an inch or 2 after being drafted.

The crazy thing is that based on what's been reported so far in regards to KD's interests is that he's looking to go to a loaded top contending team.

If a team gives up too much then KD more than likely wouldn't want to go to those teams lol

This is an article for NBA2k 21 cover which is going to Kobe as it should.

I think Trae has a shot for the cover of 2k22 though.

    • Trae Young

This is a longshot only because no one expects the Atlanta Hawks to be great this season. However, Young is one of the rising stars in the league, and he’s already been working with 2K since he arrived in the league. It’s a natural fit though next year might be a little too soon.

Don't understand how it's a little too soon.

Zion was on the cover of 2k21 Next Gen edition after his rookie season.

Dude look like the monstars yanked whatever regular season ability he had.

Fallen because of undue criticism.  Guy's a 1st ballot HOF just as the rest of his crew.  His resume is better than Paul's, if folks are honest.

And I don't even like sMelo.

Wonder did Melo piss off someone. Wasn't he out of the league for a season or a few?

Seems like all the vets are looking to go to LAL - Patty Mills, Wayne Ellington, Carmelo, Dwight, Dragic, Jeff Green, Trevor Ariza, Andre Iguadala.

They looking like that first Miami Heat title team that was loaded with former washed stars

    Melo has fallen hard.

Man was a lethal scorer but now is reduced to pretty much an afterthought while his friends Lebron and CP3 are still being talked about pretty highly. Even Wade getting some notoriety in retirement.

Melo just known for collecting alleged baby mommas at this point.

Nah.   Westbrook will "fit in" and then when Lebron goes to the Bench, Westbrook will take over the scoring.   Westbrook is not Dennis.

    I don't know.

Lebron has always been more than willing to give his fellow stars the driver seat on nights if they have the hot hand.

Problem is that Westbrook thinks he has the hot hand just about every game.

Westbrook is a hard player to win with despite putting up the offensive numbers that he does. Like Carmelo was in his prime.

Former MVP for Harrell and KVP....    That sucks. He may not be coveted by a lot of the league people but he's going to work in Lebron's system.   He can score.

Lebron and Westbrook will more than likely bump heads by 1/3rd of the season.

    Start of the Giannis dynasty.

For some reason I don't see Giannis and the Bucks becoming the traditional dynasty. Middleton would have to become a more consistently reliable player and Holiday would have to show up more than they have.

If they win multiple, I think it would be more Spurs like with a fair amount of titles sprinkled throughout years as they remain a top competitive NBA team for a long time.

They could be a Spurs like dynasty while another team may be the more traditional dynasty over the next decade.

They are always #1 for me no matter what outside of maybe some of the highlight years.

    1. Hawks

    2. Miami Football

    3. Duke Basketball

    4. Braves

    5. Atlanta United

    6. Tiger Woods or Serena or Osaka or Lewis Hamilton

    7. US Men National Team Soccer or Nats players.

    8. LeBron

    9. Falcons till Ryan is gone and they will move back to #2.

2-5 is interchangable generally speaking for me. 6 is individual based so if they are on, I generally watch if the tournament is big enough. 7 is less watching, more reading online and watching highlight clips. 8 is LeBron, to be the greatest to ever play. 9 is my former favorite Atlanta team even ahead of the Hawks at times but I hate them right now. I just don't like Matt Ryan and never will. No disrespect to him as a man, he is a great person but I don't care to watch him play football and as long as he's in Atlanta, I won't care to cheer for the Falcons. I'll rather play draftkings and cheer for who's on my roster that week.

Are you the same Supes from over on AFMB?

He pulled him hamstring. The can happen to anybody. I'm not sure what your definition of "being in shape" is, but there's no evidence that a low body fat content is associated with fewer soft tissue injuries.

Harden was pretty out of shape coming to the Nets. Bigger than usual.

He slimmed down some but suffered a nagging hamstring injury. Many believe it was due to him not taking care of his body during the offseason.

Hold on Nate even said it as well?  Thats exactly who i been harping on about Cam since day 1 is a more athletic Paul George who is now even taller and bigger than George which i didn't see coming at the beginning.    His shot looks much improved after they fixed it during his down time he is keeping his arms inside much more and the shots paying off it looks much cleaner.   Everything else about him im already pretty happy with.

Taller and bigger than George now?

    How tall is Reddish now?
