  1. Ok so I will give a short list of some player I would rather have had and I will leave out D12 and CP3...

    C - Bynum, Pekovic

    SF - Brewer, AK

    SG - Evans, Smith, Iggy

Now I am not fighting that we got Carroll, but there were a lot of really good options out there and I feel we let many of those pass us by in areas of need.

  2. I can see where you might be happy about making moves to change the team, but I don't think we did a very good job at replacing the losses, filling needs, and bringing something the fan base wants to see. I am still concerned about the scoring on this team if there is a cool night shooting. I am also concerned a little about chemistry as there is almost a whole new team. I do NOT like what we did this offseason at all, but I do like that we at least tried. The bright spot for me was Schröder. Everything else is a yawn at best.

  3. Ok this may be true but sadly it is about the only real news about the Hawks coming out. Rarely does SI, ESPN, or any of the other reliable sources ever talk about this team...unless it is to say we are reasonable contender for the 6th spot....here

Altogether, Brand’s signing is just one of several moves that make the Hawks a reasonable contender for the East’s sixth seed, all made without compromising the team’s financial flexibility.

  4. The Braves and Falcons don't have a problem attracting FAs so it's not the city. It's the perception that Atlanta fans really aren't that into basketball, compared to Celtic, Laker, etc. fans.

I would actually say that the ownership and franchise is a joke. Atlanta isn't that bad, I have spent time there and it is not my favorite city, but it is by far not the worst in the nation that has a team. Atlanta fans USED to be into basketball...remember a guy named Dominique? It is the ownership.

  5. I will leave this here about number 1. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1721000-greg-oden-narrows-choices-down-to-the-miami-heat-and-new-orleans-pelicans

Number 2 was a radio report from ESPN that left the Hawks off of the list that attended the workouts and there was zero mention he was working out for us. I will admit that came later, but again it seemed like an afterthought.

Number 3. He nor his agent have made mention he was seriously considering us. Refer to the article above.

Like I said I drew educated conclusions based off of past history, trends, and what was being reported and how it was reported.

As a side note Jennings was traded from MIL today to the Pistons.

  6. Hey I go by what I have read, heard on ESPN, and make educated assumptions on those reports. I am okay with being wrong I am not okay with hiding my face in the sand and saying this team is anything other than mediocre at best if everyone plays at the top of their levels. I have accepted this franchise is a joke. Does that mean I won't be a fan? NO....but I am not going to be all roses, sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns. Not one talk or report has been we are even close to being a favorite like NO or MIA. Not a single report has really even mentioned us on anything BUT blogs. Sure the team has been thrown out there, but more like an afterthought than a serious consideration...like every other FA of worth this offseason.

  7. Look after this offseason failure I am not buying into we are getting Oden. Would I love it? Sure! But this offseason has proved that until further notice this franchise is not a locale anyone wants to go to UNLESS they are getting overpaid. I love the Hawks, but this offseason has been a total loss in my book. I think the only reason we are mentioned at all is that he worked out for us. But let's be real, the Heat are interested and willing to spend money and as much as anyone would like to admit, the possibility of getting a ring for a little less money will ALWAYS be at the top of the totem pole followed by a huge pay-day. I would love to see what we are offering in comparison to NO.

  8. I did too, and to be honest he is probably better than any SG we have on the roster right now...wait, I am probably better than any SG we have on the roster right now, and I am almost 40 with spinal surgery.

  9. Has there been a report we are out of the running?

Oden said the only 2 teams he is considering is NO and MIA. In fact, when it was reported about teams that had serious interest we were left off that list (only a few websites listed us). He has never said he was seriously considering ATL at all.

  10. With the signing of the Mexican kid today I am not sure he will be with us next season. It would be nice to let him develop in a season of obvious futile building. Let him and Schröder play, why not, we can't be any worse with them, in fact we might be better.

  11. What scares me is that Horford will most likely not want to come back since it is obvious the ownership doesn't care if he doesn't want to play C. Teague asked us NOT to sign him, which means next FA he will be gone (unless we build a winner). We can't get any real players to come here, what makes us think that will change anytime soon? The ownership is a joke to the rest of the NBA. Ferry is handcuffed. And let's all be really honest. We lost out on every major FA we pursued. We are stuck overpaying backups and hoping they can keep shooting well. This team needs new ownership, a better image, and a commitment to its current players they are getting better. With the signing of the Mexican guy today it pretty much means the Oden rumors of not considering the Hawks at all are true, and Nogieura won't be playing for us next season is also true. We have what 10 players under contract and half of them are PF...I just don't get it at all.

  12. CP3 said he thought about joining us and decided to stay in LA.

    D12 said no.

Jeff told us not to resign him.

Josh wasn't interested in coming back.

Iggy didn't take our meeting seriously as did HS legend Tyreke Evans.

Monta Ellis took less than he wanted from Atlanta to sign with Dallas.

    Oden told us no.

Ferry been preaching his plan but he took the bait.

Millsap who's team didn't want him back at the price we are paying him nor did they offer him but HS is claiming this as a win.

Demarre Carroll, 95% of HS never seen him play but have compared him to Bruce Bowen when no one else has.

Scrubs who HS have fell in love with like Antić, Ayón, and others.

The Hawks signed players who want to play in Atlanta, sadly they aren't wanted by most for their contract. Think about it, teams wanted Brand at 1.5 mil and 1 year. We paid him 4 mil for 1 year. Someone on HS said he is a rim protector. He never been a rim protector even in his prime which was very good by the way. He is more likely to be a role player in spots for us then anything else but he is another player HS is claiming as a win. Teams wanted him but not for 4 mil, for 1.5. Most teams liked Zaza for 4-5 million. Only Milwaukee was willing to give him a long term for 6.5. While Zaza is a top tier backup center, he wasn't worth what Milwaukee paid for him and same for Brand.

That's the what the Hawks are, we overpay for backups and get rejected by average players. The Pelicans are more attractive to players than us. We are a joke and yet you guys don't want to tank. I hope this team loses every game so we can get Wiggins, Exum, or Parker.

I approve of this message. People are either blind to the fact NO ONE really wants to be here, and really the only people who will come are people we overpay for. This kid is not very good. His highlights are a 16/6 night...there are people out there that this is their LOWLIGHT...why are we excited? I am just not buying this team nor the moves. We need a playmaker, and we just don't have that at all. I hope we lose a ton of games so we might be able to get one.

  13. I wonder how this affects the pursuit of Oden..

Oden has pretty much said New Orleans and the Heat are his top 2 places he wants to be. One article I read (forget which one) said he has pretty much excluded the Hawks...why can't we even get a guy who has been out of the league for a year or 2 to consider us...WHY!?!?!?!?!?!

  14. Not just no, but NO NO NO! This offseason has only sold how terrible of a location ATL is for players. We are stockpiling PGs and PFs. This team is a joke as SG, C, and SF ( I don't consider Horford a real C as he hates it and wants to play PF). We can't even get a guy who has been out of basketball (Oden) to consider us. This team needs to lose a ton of games and get a game changer in the draft. I like Schröder, I like the POTENTIAL of Bebe. I am not crazy about anything else really. The scoring is lacking, the depth is marginal, and we have no real play maker on the team at all. I do think we will be moving in the right direction in the next few years, but as the team stands now the direction is stale. I have no idea why we signed some of the people we did and refused to seriously pursue a real C, SF, and SG. I am just so confused how this team is built this year. The sad fact is, Atlanta is not a place top tier talent wants to be, I don't know what they can do to fix that, but it needs to be fixed.

  15. I know it is a little unorthodox but could Mike Scott switch over and play some SF? Or maybe we could go international and get Sonny Weems to come back to the NBA or the Turkish kid Emir Preldzic. We need a SF and since there aren't much left in FA we might have to think outside the box.
