  1. I knew we weren't getting D12, I was excited at the fact we were going after a real C, with real scoring, and a real difference maker. What irks me is exactly what Vol4ever said, if this is the best we could do, then there are bigger problems.

  2. He actually said it is a nightmire. I don't agree with that either. It was more of the same scams as usual. As soon as Rivers got to the clippers we were screwed. Dwight wasn't coming here without Paul. I had hope that we could get Paul though. I think its all shady.

I think we are better off than last season. Milsap has a better impact on the game than Josh. We will fill out our roster but lets face it the core of the team last year was Teague/Harris/Korver/Lou/Josh/Horford. We're replacing Josh with Milsap, added a good wing defender in Carroll. Hopefully Jenkins will be a rotation player. So we haven't really changed much except lost a a guy who chucked a lot of bad shots and was a pretty big distraction.

I dunno I think we did lose some chemistry. At least last years team knew how to play with each other. Not saying they can't have good chemistry, it is just something to consider. And don't forget while Smith was known for chucking shots, he was also a guy who could give you 20-30 or more at anytime.

  3. As of right now it looks like a nightmare. We are no better off then we were last season, and I would venture to say even less. No chemistry on the team, lack of real scoring, and a marginal back-court to go along with a marginal front court with no real difference maker on the team at all. And don't give me Al, I love the guy but he is NOT a difference maker nor is he THE guy. The management has effectively pushed its fanbase further from it due to lack of information on direction or though the lack of anything resembling trying for more than trade bait and tanking. The problems with this team go beyond the team itself (players and management), they have NO idea how to approach its most valuable asset, the fans. There is an almost aw shucks mentality to FA since we have zero clue what the direction is. I am not saying I don't think this team will be built or we can't have a winner, but man keep the fans at least a little invested.

  4. I am not saying who he needs to go for or who he wants to sign. I am saying if he came out and said something like, "We are going to rebuild this team. We want hard working, tough nosed players. It may take a year or 2, but we are changing the direction of the team and are looking to create a contender." I would be fine. The problem is the signings are only leading to questions of the fans of what direction this team is going. We can take a tank year or 2 if we are rebuilding, but to grab 4 guards, no center, and little in the way of scoring is pushing an already weak fansbase further from the team. You have to fix the fans along with the team.

  5. Yea, DF could come out and tell the fanbase what his plan is. Then go out and try to accomplish it, if it doesn't work then do what he is doing now and tanking the season with trade-bait. Find a way to get a superstar here that will appeal to the fanbase, change the fact we are a laughing stock in the league, push the owners out somehow, and get this team past the 2nd round.

  6. One problem with Horford as our Duncan...he HATES playing center, which means we need a real center. Then if that center isn't a superstar we will still need to get a SF or guard that is. If that is the case will the C or the other guard be the star that is part of the big 3? That is the way the teams are going.

  7. Except Al doesn't really like playing C. If we keep putting him there he will be gone after his contract is up. This team has needed a center for so long, we just keep patching and patching. I am really not getting what Ferry is doing if in fact he doesn't get a C and gets 4 guards.

  8. Is the last 40 years Ferry's fault? Has Ferry done anything in the past year that closely resembles anything from those 40 years? The Hawks have been anywhere from bad to mediocre in the last 40 years and the only thing that the draft every gave them was Dominique for a superstar. In those 40 years, the Hawks never went after free agents. We have good players on this roster and it's going to take Ferry a lot longer than one year to build a team. This is a new era of Hawks basketball. Being mediocre isn't good enough for Danny. Danny isn't afraid of taking chances. Danny has drafted well.

No, but the fact is based on the last 40 years there is a lot Ferry has to change to get a superstar to come here that isn't drafted. I so want this team to be a contender, and just making the playoffs isn't a way that is going to happen. I can wait a few years, sure, but not a single word about what the plan is and there seems to be such small movement I am confused how this team is going. Sure we are focusing on D and hard work...great! But we need scoring and right now this team is lacking that difference maker. I would not be against tanking to get someone like that, but Ferry can't tell anyone what he is doing. It is just frustrating to watch when you see a team like Miami win a championship before a team that is as established as this one.

  9. All this Ferry hate and Hawk negativity is cracking me up. Y'all act like contenders happen overnight. I don't see Cuban's Mavs tanking. I didn't see the Bulls tank before Rose (won 33 games that year and they became great once Thibs took over). I didn't see the Rockets tank before they got Harden and Dwight. While I do see perennial lotto teams like Sacramento, Charlotte, and Washington continue to be perennial lotto teams. Seriously, this is Danny's second year as GM and I don't see big name's lining up to sign with these perennial lotto teams either. Al Jefferson went to Charlotte and Smoove went to Detroit for the money. If you want stars to sign with you and stay on your team, you have got to stay competitive. Being a basement team is just bad basketball and culture. The way the Hawks will make a contender is a mixture of what Memphis, OKC, and Houston has done.

Here is the problem, we don't expect contention overnight, although we would like contention in the last 40+ years. We have been a middle of the pack or worse team forever it seems. We don't expect us to compete for a title overnight, but I would like to be able to compete for a good player.

  10. I don't want to fail because we can't put points on the board at all. Again, I love the D, but man this team is lacking scoring big time. At this point I just want us to be able to fill the roster. I am getting to the point where I am not sure we can do that without some D league players. I almost feel like we are quickly becoming the Major League Indians (movie).

  11. Right now there isn't much choice on putting Horford back at Center, sadly. And I agree that building a respectable team is a good thing, but let's be honest with this ownership that will be a hard history to erase. They would have to change, and I just don't see that happening. I am all for getting this team better, but the pain of watching this team never make it is starting to get to a level of pain that is unprecedented.

  12. This roster makes me shake my head. I didn't ever think we would get Howard, but Iggy would have been nice, someone to put up a few points. The way this roster is looking we will be an 80 point a night team (maybe) and most assured to miss the playoffs. I don't even want to fool myself into thinking contention, unless it is lottery at this point.

  13. This team is becoming a joke...10th largest city in America and NO ONE wants to play here...sure we have some backups starting and Horford, but man I would kill to see one...just one superstar play in Atlanta again. I guess we tank this year, pray we get a good draft pick, and start to rebuild. Here is to waiting for 5 years!
