  1. I keep hearing how Horford was such a leader??? I remember him throwing the team under the bus when things were not going well and in his mind, he did do no wrong. That's not leadership to me, its a team win and a team loss. Josh has a long way to go to be a true leader of the team, especially his mistrust of Teague. The coach need to take more ownership of the team and define the roles of the players of the team. I am not sure if LD is good at that. Joe never displayed leadership on the court. He played well offensively and defended, but I never saw him directing other players, offering advice or taking someone under his wings. I always wanted Devin Harris instead of Joe anyways. I think Devin will surprise Atlanta with his play this year.

Depends on how many games he plays. I predict 55.
  2. With all due respect to Drew, Woody NEVER got a superstar performance out of JJ in the 2nd round.

And who knows how this game turns out, had Hinrich been healthy and Teague not gotten all of those minutes.

But technically, Drew won a 1st round game, and Woody didn't. So I guess no matter what the circumstances were, he did something Woody never did.

Last week I told someone that the Hawks had someone who could at least stay in front of Rose, but that they would not play him. I can't help but wonder if LD would have played him if Hinrich were not hurt.

  3. I sense a Player Development Director job is in the Bibster's immediate future.

That's Van Exel. I have to believe Bibby is biding his time until the regular season. He'll never again be what he once was, but he can play a role. He may be the only one with experience in a similar system having played in a motion type system out in Sacramento. I'll reserve judgement until the games start counting.

  4. I think every franchise disappoints it's fanbase at some time or another. Even the Lakers. However, we have never had the fanbase that was resilient. Our fanbase is easily swayed. And then, we have a local media that's more like Hots than like Grey Mule or AHF. I believe in the power of good journalism. I think the fact that there's only one paper and it is an anti Atlanta Sports kind of paper makes for the main reason why we don't attract. Look at baseball. Bobby Cox is definitely HOF, however, you have Atlanta writers that question that. 14 pennants is crazy.. 14 in a row is unheard of, however, they look at his 14 pennants and say, he only won the big one once. He's no HOFer... Excuse me... you have teams that have one the big one that have gone on the next year to not be in the conversation ever (hello Florida). However, there's very little positive in Atlanta writing. Even us resigning Joe was met with a lot of questions. Joe is a high calibre player. He is what keeps the Hawks relevant. When we resigned him, that was a moment to celebrate... not question.

And Atlanta Sports talk radio is ten time worse. Where is the positive?

So if I'm a player, I'm seeing nothing but negative coming out of Atlanta, I probably don't want to play there.

Not sure I buy the media bias argument. NY media is notoriously brutal yet you still have players looking to play there.

  5. I must have missed this "He still has injury concerns " stuff. He seemed to equip himself well last season until the suspension. Where is your evidence? As far as huge contract, he has huge game. No mystery there. We have to make moves to get to the championship level. Teague and Marvin aint gonna get us there.

Let him complete a season and I will give him a pass on injury risk. Let me see he isn't going to breakdown right before the playoffs like Brandon Roy. Honestly, I think the break grom his suspension last year probably helped him healthwise for this year, but I still think there is a risk.

I just do not think he will get us over the hump without another big man to contribute low post scoring and defense. I think we have enough guard play as we stand. We are weaker in the frontcourt.

  6. That's a joke right? Teague did not impress last week. He is no where near ready to take this team to the next level. Arenas is light years past Teague and Bibs combined

He still has injury concerns and a huge contract. Also, we would have even less depth and we still would not have another big man.

  7. I really do not think we need another guard. Especially one coming off injury with a huge contract. I really would like to see us sign a serviceable big. Seems like I have been wishing for one for the past 6-7 years and we never do what it takes to get one. :help wanted:
