So why can't they do all of this, and be efficient, when Trae is NOT in the game?   You talk like it is so easy to implement. But this offense looks like pure crap when Trae is not in the game setting people up.

The second unit needs someone who can run the offense  If Nate isn't going to play Cooper, maybe he should send Bogi to the second unit that way both Bogi and Huerter could take pressure off Wright trying to handle the ball.  Delon could then look to attack more on the offensive end.

Sorry, but guys don't just go from Montenegran League rejects to NBA rosters without something that triggers a pretty radical change in their valuation.

What Hamilton is "looking for" doesn't matter as much as what teams are willing to give him. No one is offering him a roster spot, so he's not in a position to turn his nose at a G-League offer if he wants to stay stateside.

Capela and Dieng will be just fine for 3 months. Collins can slide over to the 5 as needed, like he did last year. Even Gallo can play the 5 in a pinch. Small ball is a better option than being forced to play a scrub. If one of the two true centers gets hurt for an extended period, we can cross that bridge when we come to it and probably find someone better than Hamilton on the waiver wire.

Why not bring in someone decent now if they are available?  It doesn't have to be Hamilton it could be someone else, Hartenstein etc.  I just don't like being thin at a position, but that's just my opinion on it.

Hamilton is not getting an NBA deal unless he absolutely blows everyone's mind during training camp. I just can't imagine TS burning that last spot (even on a non-guaranteed contract) on a 27-year-old who couldn't even crack the rotation in Turkey or start in the Montenegran league last year. I can't imagine it'll be much different for other guys who we invite to training camp. I think they're playing for a shot at getting a longer look down in College Park at this point.

I don't think Hamilton needs to blow everyone's mind to get an NBA deal, just be able to rebound and play some solid defense.  I doubt he is looking for a G League deal since he played there in 18/19 season.   If he is that bad, then Shlenk needs to bring in another "big" because Capela & Dieng alone will not suffice until OO gets back.  We never know when Capella might get injured or have to miss some games.

  4. Teams are starting to sign players for camp deals.  Maybe by the end of the week Atlanta adds the last 2 players for camp.  Hopefully 1 of those will be another Big who can compete with Hamilton for that last roster spot.  Johnny seems decent enough to hold down the 3rd string center position till Okungwu gets ready.  Would love to have He & Hartenstein battle for that non-guaranteed deal.

Another day, another prospect. Today, I'll introduce you to a potential phenom from Belgium. Vrenz Bleijenbergh a 6'11 G/F with a 7'1 wingspan. Reminds me a lot of Deni Avdija from last years draft. Has excellent ballhandling and playmaking skills for his size. He's excellent at making reads from the pick and roll and is a terrific lob passer.

He's also a solid shooter at this point, but he can diffidently make some improvements on his consistency and form. As he matures, he should to look to add around 15 - 20 more pounds of muscle to help him defensively and offensively.

He can ideally play the 2, 3, and 4, so he has positional versatility. He has a really high upside if we can develop him correctly. He's a prospect that may or may not contribute from day 1, but will be a really good piece to have as he gains more and more experience.

    Here's his tape:

After watching highlights on him, I think he has the most upside & versatility that we can get a 20.  I feel we can get a backup PG that fits our needs in the 2nd round with guy like Nix & Washington Jr most likely being available.

I guess after several years of substandard backup PG play, I'm just skeptical of the kind of guard we need to be drafting. With the way we stagger Collins and Capela throughout the game with Gallo and Okongwu, I think the backup PG has to be able to make plays with the PnR. Cam Thomas and Hyland are guys I've seen fans suggest the most and I really don't see it. I think they're talented and could do great things in the league, but I don't think iso-scoring should be the skill we're prioritizing.

All that being said, I also hope we get Trae's backup whoever it is. There are a lot of talented guards that'll be available at #20.

I wouldn't mind picking up Daishen Nix in the 2nd round, even if we have to move up 4 or 5 slots to get him.   I know he is a poor 3 point shooter and not very athletic but he is 6'4 225 with very good passing ability. He is someone that could play next to Trae in the Future.  He can be taught to improve his 3 point shot.

  7.      Seems like Sharife Cooper is popular among a lot of posters.  I think he is a good player but don't know if he is right for the Hawks.   I am not too concerned about his size as more of him thinking he is "The Man" already.   I don't see him playing behind Trae more than a year or two before he will want to start.  Watching his interview with Mike Schmitz I can just tell that even though he seems like a "Good Guy" he still has a bit of cockiness about him,  I don't see him playing 2nd fiddle to Trae for too long.   It would be similar to the Reggie Jackson when he got tired of playing behind Westbrook.     Oh yeah, he also unintentionally slighted the city of Atlanta.  Mike Schmitz asked him about his "Game" he brings to the court and he said something along the lines of I think I bring that New Jersey style of play to the court.  Cooper's family moved to Atlanta when he was 6 years old.  Better put some respect on the Atlanta & the state of GA.

  8.      I think that he should have been pulled after it was evident that he wasn't himself (missing so many 3 pointers and even a few free throws).  However, Nate let him go out on his sword, because he knew how important it meant to Trae to be out there with the team in a do or die situation.

Isn't he retired. He wasn't on a team this season.

There were rumors of him retiring last off season, but he still felt that he might want to play.  Don't know if any team called his agent about playing this  season or whether he just decided to sit out the shorten season like Kyle did.
