Not much to be mad about in that one. Lakers size and Lebron's IQ makes them one of the toughest matchups possible for this Hawks team. I honestly expected them to be up by 30 at some point tonight.
Reddish missed a gimme, it is what it is. No chance in hell the Lakers were letting Trae get a look there. Offense generated the 2nd best shot in basketball only to layups/dunks, missed it. For yall LP/Trae offense complainers.
Reddish defense is really impressive.
The deep transition bomb 3 by Trae is tough. Obviously a 2 for 1, looked super selfish in the moment though.
Hunter gotta work on his touch at the rim. Missed a lot of layups.

Trae is the worst defender in the NBA.
I’m not sure you can maintain a good defense with him on the team.
He is really, really bad.
But he is not the reason why this team doesn't have good defense. Our bigs don't do a good job of contesting shots. The amount of times the Pacers got to the paint without a contest from our bigs was ridiculous (f***ing Jabari). And when they are there, the contest is really weak. Our defensive rebounding is atrocious. Trae could be the Glove and our defense would be bad (obviously better than it is, but still bad) right now.

Wait wait wait.....No Bembry for 2 games in a row? . Is he on the trade block?
Or is LP scapegoating him for his own error in the Heat game by forgetting to sub him back out?
Bembry has been more or less out of the rotation since the Hornets game.

Tonight's game is on Trae and Pierce mainly. I cannot wait until Vince is gone, LP trusts him too much and he's always in YOLO mode.
-
Good on Trae. He called his teammates out for playing like shit and the next game we have a complete team win.

Just FYI, Trae gets a lot of calls himself. Not Harden/Giannis or something, but he's 8th for free throws attempted. Speaking of, that's one of the big reasons I wanted to get rid of Dennis. He never got to the line. You really had to just hope he could get to the rim. Trae has multiple ways to get his points.

The Rockets are basically what we want to be. It's a really solid scheme when you actually have playmakers. We don't even have a PJ Tucker type to find the open man after Trae gets trapped.

Because he has to play. No sense in Trae playing 35 minutes in a game that we're going to lose by 40+. So he has to play.
But he can't run this offense because the midrange game that everyone hates, isn't even taught anymore. Instead of getting around his man and settling for a 16 footer, he's taking everything to the rim. Because of that, his shot is being contested every single time.
Even our big men should be encouraged to take open midrange shots, if they're open.
No way would an old school team be down by 26 midway through the 2nd quarter.
LOL . . and still no Bruno or Len. LP is literally going to die with Jones.
Bembry cant shoot midrangers. He's a 58% career free throw shooter. He shoots 32% from midrange. The reason he doesn't shoot is because he sucks at shooting.

That's not going to get it. This team can't be Trae and the "others". Once he goes to the bench or gets trapped, it's like the Washington Generals out there.
The solution is better players

LP has to find a different offense for this team to run, that doesn't have Trae as the PnR ball handler, It makes no sense for him to have to work this hard every single game.
There is no efficient offense with these guys that doesn't involve Trae. They all suck lol.

It isn't just about Trae Young.
Trae Young WITH Jabari AND Djones= DEATH. Not a good lineup.
Sorry bud. It isn't "just trae young"There could be 4 LK6969s out there and it would not matter. This is all Trae.

Now look, this lineup is GOOD. sO WE ARE COMING BACK. I predicted it.
I can predict the outcome BASED ON THE LINEUPS.
LP is an awful coach man.LP please don't play JABARI And DJONES at the same time.
Thankfully LEN is in now for Jones. You can predict that the Hawks will look good offensively when Trae Young is on the floor? We have a coaching prodigy on our hands on Hawksquawk.

When will yall realize we have no backup PG. No offense is gonna look good with this bench personnel.

Maybe Schlenk should find some better players.
He needs to. This off-season it's time to move towards results.

That’s mainly because of our horrible offensive philosophy. It’s basically a bunch of hero ball and Trae playing like 2k MyCareer.
Trae plays exactly how I’ve played NBA 2K MyCareer since 2k10. Bunch of dribbling, bunch of pick and rolls, hold the ball until a player is in scoring position so you can get an assist. Your numbers ballon and maybe one other players numbers balloon due to being the primary finisher in the paint, *cough* Collins *cough* Parker, with Collins out. All while everyone else fights for scraps
No real ball movement or player movement. Too much 2 man action and standing around. Too much of a good grip of possessions passing by without players even touching the ball
This is more of a shot at Coach Pierce than Trae. I have no problem with Trae, but this offensive system has no chance of bringing any prolonged success.
Just my opinion
I want you to develop an efficient offense around 2 ball handlers (Turner and Bembry) that can't /won't shoot at all. 3 big men who can't pass or shoot. And wings that are hot and cold. One of which cannot finish at the rim at all. But you do have Jabari, who can score but can't pass.
Realistically we should be able to eat on short rolls with all the attention Trae draws but our bigs are not dynamic enough to make those reads. If we had Horford our offense would be silly good funny enough.

I can't blame LP too much, as it stands there just isn't a collection of players that would score efficiently without Trae on the floor.

Really awful stint by Bruno.

Jabari always gives his old teams something extra. This wasn't clear to yall during the Bulls preseason game? lol.
Dwight is the same way. A lot of players are like that tbh.

The only allstarish player that I can see coming available for trade soon is Ben Simmons

LP also has to play the right center he has on his team.
It's time to commit to Bruno in the same way he's committed to Reddish and Hunter. Jones is one dimensional and almost refuses to even put himself in position to get rebounds. Len is decent every 7 games, but has completely lost his way offensively. Bruno has shown that he at least has the talent on both ends of the floor, to be our best option at center. He deserves to play alongside a passer like Trae for most of his minutes, to see how good Trae can make him.
Bruno is a rookie, so he's going to make mistakes. But with him, he's at least "medium risk, medium reward". He has the skills that can be developed into a good player. LP simply needs to commit now, to develop him . . through thick and thin.
Worse than the Falcons?
At this point we may have nothing to lose, but Bruno sucks too.
Schlenk needs to be looking for an NBA caliber center. We legit can't win because of how bad our defensive rebounding is. Just leads to fouls if we're lucky, or open threes.
-
Schlenk has to get us an NBA caliber center. This is just not watchable.

I can't say that we would've shifted gears with Luka on the team last year. Trae played at a great level post ASB and Schlenk did not make moves at all.
Luka is better at passing out of double teams due to his size. We'd be better defensively.
But still if Luka was dealt the cards that Trae has been dealt so far this year, we would be maybe an 8 seed in the East right now.
-
I'm glad people here have stopped acting like Luka is some media made creation.
That said, still appreciate that Trae is giving us an efficient 26 and 9 vs the toughest schedule in the NBA. While having 0 shooting around him and big men that can't catch or finish.
We got a superstar even if he isn't the best siperstar.

Yeah... He is taller, but he matches Trae in assists. Simply more versatile.
The Hawks are getting blown out almost every other game now.
We're a young team missing our 2 of our top 4 players, playing one of the hardest schedules in the NBA.
But yeah we desperately need more players that can handle the ball. Or shoot. Two of our founding principles.
