I agree. It is go time Schlenk. It's time to start thinking about how do we make Trae a hawk lifer.

Cant wait until Crabbe is up to speed and Huerter is back.

That isn't completely right. Trae was getting blocked at the rim routinely in November and turning the ball over a fair amount.
But it's a fair point that Cam is much more raw than Trae was.
No, the funny thing about this point last year was that Trae was far ahead as a dribble driver than what was expected. He just couldn't buy a 3 pointer and actually started taking far less for a while.
Trae gets blocked a lot even now, he's 6'2 with high usage so I've come to accept it.

Disengeuous to compare Cam to Trae last year. Trae was struggling with his shot, Cam is struggling with his shot, dribbling the ball, finishing through contact, not gettijg stripped/blocked when he drives, and general decision making. On top of that, Cam doesn't have a historically good college season to lean on for goodwill. He had a historically bad college season.
I'll say his defense has been as advertised, he's just one of the very worst offensive players in the NBA.

Yeah, you can blame the coaches too. Because they don't HAVE to start both rookies. They may do it because they're the best defensive wings on the team, but they don't have to start both of them.
They could go with the lineup you see right now.
PG - Trae
G - Bembry
G - Huerter
PF - Parker
C - Len ( or insert center )
This is our "vet" lineup w/o Carter in the game.
I don't mind that lineup. But then you've gotta be prepared to stagger those minutes pretty heavily because you've taken the two best ball handlers off the bench.

lol at people that thought Reddish was a great talent trapped in a system not made for him. He just isn’t any good.
FR. He was the guy I wanted the most before last college season, even more than Zion because of his natural fit. But he's only proceeded to be historically bad ever since high school. I just hope that eventually he will be a decent 3nD player.

Don't really blame the coaches. The players aren't making shots. That's really most of the game in the NBA nowadays.
As I was typing this the Kings missed several 3s and the Hawks started making theirs. Hence we're back in the game.

The sooner everyone stops pretending Cam has some TMac/KD/PG potential the better.

Cam reminds me of Vic Beasley from the Falcons. No plan at all and spinning like a ballerina.

Not with Cam Reddish around.
cam’s about 5-60 this year it seems like.
Cam is pretty awful too but he has the excuse of being a rookie. This is Len in his prime years. Can't post up a point guard.

Len is the worst player in the entire NBA. That weak shit he pulled vs Dunn settled it for me.
-
Most of these players are doing this stuff. I don't think any less of you John, just should've been smarter to not get caught. Or, get so good that the league can't afford to suspend you without damaging the integrity of the league itself.
-
Ugh. Could they at least have found a way to implicate Len in this as well? O am not looking forward to watching our remaining bigs sans Jabari.
-
LP and crew talk about no shortcuts and that's what they have to stick to with Cam. I'm way more interested in seeing him develop an off ball game than trying to make him become TMac.

People who want Cam to have a lot of ball handling responsibility: why?

He is a decent backup but he's a terrible starting center
Not right now. His only NBA skill at the moment is being big and tall. Can't jump, can't shoot, can't catch, not agile.
-
Len is the worst player in the NBA right now. Whatever confidence he had coming into the season is shot.
-
Bembry is the only player on the roster right now that can get to the rim off the dribble.

I'll bite. What was the bet again?
The Hawks weren't rebuilding until Schlenk joined. There really is no reason to compare the Pelicans to the Hawks. They jumped up like 6(?) spots in the lottery and had an MVP level talent begging to be traded to a team that just happened to have tons of young players and a 34 year old superstar to appease.
Schlenk was left with a bunch of overpaid below average players, some of which have cancerous personalities (Dennis, Dwight). But I'm sure this has all been said already. I will say even though I have enjoyed Hunter's work, Griff got the better of Schlenk on that trade (process/assets wise). We have to do a better job of hiding our cards.

( sigh ) Cam
LP . . please send him to College Park after Thursday, so that he can regain some of his confidence.
This is why I ask . . . what is the one thing that he does well? If he can do just one thing well on offense, I want him doing that.
I mean he sucked in college, is there any indication he'd whoop up on gleaguers?
-
I mean, this is what Cam looked like at Duke (though he wasn't this bad of a shooter). Turning the ball over, struggles to drive, drifting on offense, but a nice defender.

Len played better D on Embiid than anyone. He's big too. Len struggled hitting shots when his back was hurt last year. It's hurt at the beginning of this season too. I'll give Len to the 30 game mark before I start getting really concerned about him.
A caveat, he's def not playing like the worst player on the roster. That would be Damian Jones. He's so raw. He fouled Embiid so softly three times in a row for and ones. Turns out, that was the difference in the game among other things.
Embiid went 12/19 for 35 points. With all due respect, the person who played the best defense on him was just the tallest midget. He even got John killed jumping all over Embiid's garbage pump fake.

Len is such a disappointment. With the way he was talking about Trae this offseason and how he played in the second half, I thought he'd be a nice piece but he is legitimately the worst player on the roster.

Paul George must've saw all the people comparing Reddish to him and felt disrespected.
