  1. Down the stretch of this type of close games, how can the ATL count on Antione if he missing FT's...?
  2. Last night in the second half when the game was out of hand I did see Boris, but I rather see more of Boris than Josh Childress out there.. Boris does not shoot as much as he should, but with his long arms and quick feet, he would at least be a defensive presence and be disruptive in the passing lanes... The Hawks gave up way too many points Friday night.. and Dwayne Wade really exploded late in the second quarter and thrid quarter and made the Hawks look really bad... Let Diaw defend Wade and see how he does in that situation.. Its still preseason, but we need to see what Diaw can do.. If the Hawks aren't going to score, then let's play some defense..
  3. Dominique was on WSB-TV's Sports Final and was interviewed by Bill Hartman and said Kenny Anderson is someone that the Hawks are looking for at this time. This team needs players who want to play for the Hawks. This is not engraved in stone, but I agree with Nique. We need veteran guards to run this team... It isn't very likely that Boris Diaw or Royal Ivey will be able to lead a NBA team on a nightly basis...It's very hard to fathom. Diaw got some skills, but for some to say he is ready to play the point in the NBA is very 'wishful thinking'. Nique said in that interview that the Hawks aren't "rebuilding", but trying to find a mix of veterans and young players who can compete. Kenny Anderson is over 30, but still a servicable guard who can make plays.... And what about trying to acquire Travis Best... He is a veteran who has been on playoff teams as well... This team has become more athletic, now it is time to find guards who can run the team. I believe they have given up on the notion of getting Erick Dampier... He is past his prime and has questionable desire. If Dampier himself doesn't feel he can make a difference here in Atlanta , then we don't need him... He would probably be the next "Alan Henderson"... and we don't need that...Dampier does have an extended history of being injured...
  4. The Hawks need guard(s) who can create and aren't afraid to take the "big shot" at the end of games.... I would like to see Josh Smith evolve into that person, but its not likely at this time, especially in his first season.Josh will have some nice dunks and make a three pointer or two, but that's about it? Who is our real "go-to " guy? The Hawks need to re-sign Bob Sura, and find another backcourt player who isn't afraid to big shot at the end of games. Last year, the Hawks had opportunities to win between 12 to 15 more games LAST YEAR, but lack of leadership and the inability of our guards (i.e Glover, Terry, even Stephen Jackson at times) to make plays down the stretch "when it mattered" cost the Hawks... The Heat is the likely front-runner in our division... Dewayne Wade doesn't play like a rookie, he plays to win and was a huge part of the success in Miami... However, Eddie Jones will have to play better alongside Wade. Orlando is likely to finish second Francis and Kato is a solid one-two combination and Washington's young players (i.e Arenas and Kwame Brown) may be able to put up a more conistent effort and battle for second place. I hope the Hawks don't keep Jason Terry, because he is not a winning ball player, and doesn't want the responsibility of winning and losing a game when the "game is on the line"...and for the Hawks' who are trying to make positive steps towards obtaining a playoff berth, WE NEED A CHANGE... If Terry stays as lead guard, the Hawks will fall short as a team and will likely battle Charlotte for last place.
  5. I hope Billy Knight find a real point guard (actually TWO), but if he doesn't the ATL may have a hard time winning 20 games next year... This team is more athletic, but our basketball IQ will be worse than last year... Diaw is not ready to be a NBA point guard, not even a backup guard... I have never been a big fan of Nick Van Exel, but the Hawks may have to get him and/or guy like Travis Best with experience to help this team. the hawks can't go into next season with Jason Terry as our "lead guard" for another year...
  6. The free agency period has begun and we have plenty of small fowards and shooting guards, but we still don't have a NBA caliber point guard, not even a legitimate "back-up" guard. Derek Fisher signs with Golden State. Troy Hudson resigns with Minnesota. Brent Barry signs with San Antonio. Ginobli will resign with San Antonio. The Hawks did a good thing in signing Harrington, but who is going to lead this team... as our PG? If we can't get Jamal Crawford, then who? The list of "candidates" are slowly dwindling... I don't want to WRITE THIS SEASON OFF, but if we don't get some playoff calibur guards, not necessarily "All-Stars", then we are in for a another long frustrating year. Do we try to get someone like Travis Best or Kenny Anderson or maybe a Jamal Tinsley. They are getting up there in age, but they have experienced the playoffs and knows how to set up their teammates better than Jason Terry. We are NOT going to win with Jason Terry as our starting point guard. The talk about Dampier is great, but we need a point guard badly... Having Dampier won't do us any good if we don't have PG's who can get the ball to him and direct the team.
  7. As long as Josh continues to work hard in every facet of his game, I expect good things from him...
  8. We can't afford to be "picky and choosy" about who we want.. Fisher brings something to the table, moreso than Jason Terry... Fisher has won a couple of playoff games during his career... has anyone on the current Hawks team done this... NO... This team need players who have at least experienced the playoffs, especially point guards...
  9. It similar to having Shareef Abdur Rahim in a way... Kenyon is definitely more athletic and can score, but he needs a REAL POINT GUARD who can get him the ball where he will have the most success ... I see a lot of "projected" lineups with JT as a starter... THAT IS NOT GOING TO WORK.... JT is not a very good PG and NEVER WILL BE... its either you have it or you don't.... And actually Jt isn't a very consistent shooter, nor does he wants the ball "down the stretch" when the game is on the line. Get the point guard(s) FIRST... Troy Hudson, Derek Fisher and/or Jamal Crawford or Manu.... But we need smart PG's who have a high B-BALL I.Q and aren't afraid to take the big shot at the end of the game. If we don't we will win only 25 to 30 games, if that many...
  10. RUDY T. formerly of the Houston Rockets would be a good choice, if he feels like he can come back and coach again..
  11. Jason Terry, Bobby Sura, Alan Henderson and next year's first round pick for VINCE CARTER.... Carter has questions about durability and toughness, but so does Terry... a change of scenery would do both players some good... Sura got skills but he is 33 years old!!! However, Carter is a high risk, high reward player... and he would fit into the new run and gun style of this Hawks' team for 2004.
  12. With the Hawks drafting a bunch of young players, wouldn't a coach like Coach K from Duke be the "perfect" person for the job... Right now, Coach K (according to ESPN) as been offered the Lakers job... The Hawks need to raise their basketball I.Q. , play with discipline on offense and defense and play the game "the right way"... (i.e Larry Brown. )
  13. Well, this Hawks team need a "veteran" frontcourt and backcourt player.... This team can not go into next season as Jason Terry as our starting PG... If we are going to have all these wing players who are athletic, we need a guard who knows how to get the ball to them on a consitent basis. If Troy Hudson becomes available, I would support that... The Hawks have been languishing between 25 to 32 wins the last five years, and there has to be a change at that PG position...
  14. Derek Fisher is not an All Star, nor is he Kobe or Jason Kidd, but he is a veteran who has experience and have been "playoff tested"..... Along with Fisher, the ATL will need at least another "playoff tested" veteran (i.e. Kenyon Martin) and a coach who knows how to communicate and teach young players)(i.e Del Harris) The Hawks have a very young team and even JT , despite being with team for five years , Jason has never experienced the playoffs since he has been in the league. Terry shouldn't be leading this team next year as a starter (maybe as a sixth man), but definitely not a starter...
