  1. The Detroit model which is basically four all stars and a serviceable fifth vs the current trend of three super stars to win a championship might still work if we can somehow turn Marvin and Jeff Teague combined into another all star player. The other scenario is get younger. Everyone keeps talking about trading Josh Smith for Pau Gasol or Dwight Howard, how about trade Josh Smith for emerging big men like Greg Monroe or Demarcus Cousins? I know the kings and Pistons would be hesitant to make this trade but its one that would have us legitimate for a long time.
  2. 6yrs 72 million. He got his $12 million a year he was holding out for so I wonder if Smoove can get his 11 mil now.
  3. The hawks should petition the NBA for a compensatory first round pick in the range of a Josh Childress caliber because of this hole in their rules. It is clear the front office valued him more than they value Smith and gave him the money and the years he wa worth, but he just got more money elsewhere. I know they said we retain his rights for two years but that should be increased to however amount of time he decides to stay in Europe.
  4. I see smith as a good fit for the warriors because of their style, but if he signs with the clippers they will be so bad its not even funny. lmao
  5. I am not reluctant to leaving Al at center, but can we finally afford all three then extend Joe which is the absolute #1 prority for this franchise when that time comes
  6. Ok so if he is not a small forward the position you have him playing is already being occupied by one Al Horford so who do you keep when Al's extension comes up. Unless you have made up your mind that Al is our franchise center?
  7. Wow. I love smoove but am not going to start that argument if we take a fan poll saying signing Josh Smith now will cost of the opportunity to extend Horford I am pretty sure the majority would let smith run
  8. Ya just like Sund is right now. You guys are all worried about Josh Smith, but am more worried about having enough $ to extend Horford and resign Joe Johnson. Those two are the closest being to championship caliber players we have on our roster
  9. So explain what exactly dosen't make sense to you. Looks simple to me
  10. Marvin Williams vs. Josh Smith. Who is the long term small forward for this franchise because if it was Al Horford vs. Josh Smith for the PF spot, ASG and Atlanta fans would let Josh walk in a heartbeat. So if Josh Smith does not get resigned watch out for a long term Marvin Williams contract pretty soon, but if Smith resigns Marvin williams is definitely getting traded only on the grounds that Al Horford cannot play center the rest of his career and we can't pay all three of them. As for Childress he is pretty much in limbo, if Smith returns he's gone. If Smith goes he is retained.
  11. Understood, but its wishful thinking if you think the Bucks are going to gut their team.
  12. The bulls panicked and signed Ben Wallace over Tyson Chandler. That move really paid some dividends. Not what the hawks want to do.
  13. Joe needs to be extended this off season.
  14. Anybody wonder why?????????????????? Oh for two plus seasons at that.
  15. We freaking send the best team in the league to the brink of elimination with a SICK young team and youre calling for wholesale changes?????????? Adding veterans like Bogut, Redd and Maggette that haven't won in their careers and also WON't win us a championship next year. If you think a team featuring Redd or any used free agent out there will win us a title then you don't watch much basketball. the best thing is continuation. Grow gradually and learn from your mistakes. You guys say trade Bibby, but helloooo without Bibby we don't even make the playoffs. The GM and coach are learning from their mistakes so they deserve to stay. We need to resolve ownership, keep the staff for continuation and continue to develop our young players to learn how to play at a championship level with what we have. Its highly probable that one of the Josh's won't be back so we need to get a shooter and a big man, then solidify our bench. If you notice the NBA is a business of making the playoffs every year and gradually building a championship team. With what we have we can make the playoffs every year we just need to add a little bit and let them grow to get to championship level. We smell sucess for the first time in 9yrs and now everyone wants to be greedy and win a championship next year by trading everybody and bringing in the whole Milwaukee Bucks or LA Clipper team to win a championship next year. Pathetic. Oh by the way like the Atlanta Spirit would say. BIBBY WAS GOOD FOR BUSINESS
