If thats the case let us keep Jalen too lol. Jalen on the bench and next to lineups where Kat is center would be amazing.

I would rather trade Jalen than either Okongwu and AJ, and one has to be included in the deal. Okongwu and KAT is a dream pair.

I’ll just say this about the Siakam stuff in here. This team needs secondary playmaking, better defense, and more shooting. So people want to trade AJ Griffin, Onyeka Okongwu, and Jalen Johnson, 3 players who could do all these things because they’re young? The first three players I mentioned all shown more potential than any of the past rookies we’ve ever drafted in the Trae Young era. Who cares if they’re young? Jalen Johnson was a completely different player  after Quin Snyder took over. Onyeka Okongwu is Ready to be a starter and was top 10 in blocks despite coming off the bench. AJ Griffin was so good as a Rookie that he made NATE MCMILLAN play him! AJ almost had a 50/40/90 season!

People want to win now? I’m sorry but this team isn’t ready to win now. It’s not gonna be ready to win now for at least a year, maybe even two. Too many problems with this team exist right now that are gonna take a while to solve. It makes perfect sense to try and develop now when we have the chance. The only question is whether DJ and Trae want to wait for that to happen.

also, I’m hoping that Dejounte does sign that extension tomorrow. It’s clear if you look at his Instagram he really loves being a hawk. DJ signing that deal will give us significant flexibility. But we will see tomorrow

You can't always hold on to young talent and HOPE they become a player like Brown/Siakam when you can trade for them NOW. Under the current circumstances, trading OO hurts the least while we still have Capela. I believe AJ has the most star potential, but would trade him for Brown, and I think JJ has a high ceiling but is a walking injury risk that I would trade for Siakam easy.

If you want to continue to deny the fact that, due to the path we chose to take, we haven’t developed these young players properly or that someone from the Spurs tree or the Bud tree wouldn’t have been monumentally better than the crap we hired, then that’s on you.  I’m just glad that ownership came to its senses and hired Quin, who is a branch off Bud’s tree as well as Popovich’s tree.

And Coach K's tree which I think goes overlooked

  4. I'll miss Collins, but not the version we saw last season in the slightest. However, I do wonder what a Capela deal first would have looked like because moving JC back to a pre-Cap role could have increased his value for more return than a salary dump. I need to see a full off-season of changes before I judge.

He's not bad but he's mentally weak and immature.  Snyder seems to have exceptional people skills and emotional intelligence, but I'd rather him be able to focus on basketball and not babysitting sensitive players with big egos.  Ayton is literally the polar opposite of the vague description given for players we're trying to target.

And he's already dealing with molding Trae. Can he handle another one? Can we?

In his conversation with Schultz, Ressler called the Team an "Asset" .

That cleared things up for me.

Ressler is not a fan of the Hawks.  He's the owner.  And he doesn't have other fans of the Hawks, he has Shareholders.   He probably likes to see his team dong well, but his primary thing is ownership.

WE... Fans of the Atlanta Hawks want to believe that our Owner would be the biggest HOMER there is... When that is the case, your owner will spend more than is needed to make sure that the team is at the best capacity it can be.  However, when your owner is a owner first, he's looking to maximize his profits.. either now or in the future. He has a guideline that he follows and a stiff budget.  He rarely makes moves that are not going to improve the bottom line either now or in the future.  Like Trading Nique was the best business move at the time.   However, it was the worst possible fan move.

Bottom line, let's stop expecting fan moves from our owner.

Ressler cares about the team. I sit by him at games. He's on his feet, he cheers, he heckles. Against the Cavs last season, he was yelling at Rubio and calling him a bum. He's just also a business man that isn't going to pay millions for a middling team. If we aren't a contender, there's no reason to pay it. It's on the GM to make us a contender where he would pay it or get under so we have breathing room to get better.

Do you know which two are their primary targets? I understand if you can't share that info before the draft, but it would be interesting to know whether or not we got our guys once the draft is over.

Whitmore and Lively still fit the bill. You can't trade Hunter without getting a Wing back (Whitmore) and backfilling Capela with Lively as Okongwu's b/u down the line makes logical sense.

In all seriousness, I wish we had more dogs like this. The only reason we don’t hear about him is because his body type is held against him opposed to Zion who is popular and gets a pass. You can’t tell me they don’t have the same game and bully anyone that gets in their way.

"ZION" he's a one name brand. Kenneth Lofton should have done his son better than adding the Jr.

When I was growing up guys like Ayton and Zion were David Robinson and LJ….

Not sure if it’ll materialize. Shame too, they got talent, Ja too, Ben too, what’s with these kids? I know I sound old but it’s almost like they have issues on top of issues and ego issues.

I'm sure there were players like this then too. It's all about getting paid. They're good at basketball, but they aren't passionate about it. If Ayton and Zion weren't as expensive as they are, they would be viewed differently, but they're paid to be a 1 or 2 option and they aren't.

0 interest in Ayton.  Way too expensive for what he brings.  Dude gives no effort out there… a waste of talent and he does not try at all on D.  It would be a step backwards for us.  I also think his laziness and poor attitude will also effect the locker room

He's like Vic Beasley. All the talent and none of the work ethic. Does he even want to play?
