Travis did during his year end ish they do. I forget what's its called right now
Ah gotcha, thanks. Expecting both JJ to improve enough to be rotational level while also signing a quality pf might be much.
Would still do the trade 10 times out of 10 lol

The coaching staff has confirmed this?

You delusional then. Trade all of your PFs for a wing will just leave a massive hole at PF and don't expect no scrub to fill in
How is trading our starting pf and our backup c trading all of our pf's?
You're talking about trading for a star sg who covers perfectly for Trae in exchange for the potential of Onyeka.
I know projecting Onyeka to be playing pf in the future is an option, but he hasn't shown any sign of a shooting stroke so far to make that option viable.
Of course JC + all the picks is a better deal than trading OO, but trading him on top of JC and losing our current and potential pf ceiling isn't too bad for how our teams constructed.
I'll admit though the FA class of pf's isn't looking good, so idk, maybe I'm minimizing things

If Schlenk trades both OO and Collins for Murray....then he needs to get a U-Haul and pack his shiieet and go with them!
Nah, proven talent over potential any day. Murray is an all nba level player while onyeka is currently bench level. Sacrificing depth for star power is always worth it, especially in this case if we could land Gobert.
Backup center matters a lot less when Rudy will play 35-38 min in the playoffs.
A Trae/Murray/Hunter/JJ/Rudy lineup is insane (being very high on JJ._.). I admit not having an established 4 in the starting lineup isn't ideal... But sometimes you live with having a great meal even if it's a bit softer than ya like go jackets

Also, if TS was the type to do a garbage trade like JC for Barnes straight up, he probably would've already made a dumb trade in his tenure.
I don't buy the negativity, with casuals being able to tell it's not a good deal for Atlanta, there's no way Travis thinks it is.

Have to think so.
But also, wouldn't his tweet feel like a bit of a slap in the face to whoever would get sent away?
In that respect, it seems to invite some awkwardness... and I wonder "would Trae do that?" Never seemed to be that kind of guy.
Why would it be a slap in the face? Trae was just referencing his new baby duties
But also, Nba players tweet vague things all the time. Doubt anyone would have any awkwardness/hard feelings, unless it's like a situation like where Eric Bledsoe wanted out publicly, but you find that Eric had made a promise to a friend on the squad to stay on the Suns together until a championship was won.
So, hopefully no promises were made and Trae isn't unintentionally mildly sabotaging relationships

If John Collins is traded, Duarte, Daniels, or Ivey is a Hawk.
If we trade with the Pacers for Duarte, what could a return look like? Pacers don't really have any expensive contracts outside of Buddy/Miles/Brogdon to make the deal work. Doubt Travis would take on bad money just to acquire Duarte, so multi-team trade perhaps?

I think if Atlanta is trying to clear cap space to sign Ayton, they should deal either both Clint and John to Phoenix for Ayton and a expiring or send John to San Antonio for a player and two 1st round draft picks in this years draft. Then deal Clint and some combination of draft picks to Phoenix for Ayton. We could then pick up someone like Portis, Olidipo, or Tucker to round out the squad.
Then Landry Fields can hire me as assistant GM. Lol.Clint -> Phoenix, Ayton -> Atl
John -> SA for Murray and Langford
Kev/Bogi -> Nola for 8/Daniel Dyson
Off season moves I'd love to see happen somehow.
Grabbing Portis or Tucker to round out the squad would finally bring some of that Solo toughness back. Wish we would sign him on as an assistant.

Not feeling good about Ayton coming here. All signs point to him being a piston.
dammit!
Waitt, why do all signs point to him being a Piston? Has Ayton expressed a want to be in Detroit already?

Unless it's Grant + Hart to ATL for Collins + JalenJ + 16
I wouldn't take any part of this trade, really poor for the Hawks I believe. JC is worth more than Grant(on his current contract)+ Hart alone.
13 minutes ago, Hawkmoor said:Portland just got a stud. Grant should have been a Hawk. Guess Ressler isn't touching that luxury tax after all.
Jerami isn't worth what he wants, we don't need to overpay someone to be our 3rd option. When money is limited by the salary cap, and you have a supermax player that isn't exactly easy to build around, you gotta be smart with your money.

Instead of using all of that draft capital to draft that kind of player in the 1st place, we rather buy high. Sounds like a bad trading strategy to me. Buy high sell low.
Good players are missed in the draft all the time, and JC/Kevin weren't exactly picked very high, lower than our current draft Position.
The only player you can be referencing is cam, but how can you predict a person's temperament / wants years into the future.
I think Travis has done a pretty good job with asset management since he was hired.
You work with the hands you're dealt, and if we can an opportunity to flip OO for Murray that would be a fantastic trade. Doesn't really matter what position they were drafted when evaluating current talent levels imo

In : Ayton, Simmons
Out : Capela, JC
I also think we get a 4/72 Extension with Hunter
Use pick 16 to draft/trade for a Huerter/Bogi replacement

Yall, please don't become victim to a buttcrack sports tweet lol.
If Simmons is unhappy we should definitely make a play for him imo, but that tweet doesn't mean anything

With all the changes we're expected to make in the off season, do yall think we'll be in the championship hunt?
I feel like we'll be a competitive playoff team, but a season to let the team gel and potentially get a new HC is whatll push us into the elite tier of teams in the NBA

No one should be signing Melo personally speaking, he's done done.
Micic has interest across the league but nothing major in terms of assets. I hope we get him, we wanted him last year. He would be the ideal backup behind Trae.
I always will.
Yeah Melo signing was mostly a joke.
Seeing as Hawks have been talking to OKC for a while, sounds like we're trying to get Micic's rights + shore up some defense with Mr Kenrich Williams and Dort. Really hope we can make something happen with them, getting 2 needs filled (backup pg + defense) would be a major win

What level of return would you guys expect to get if we trade JC?
Love John and hope to keep him on the team, but if Portland makes 7 available or Kings 4, would you do it?
I'd say no to Portland, yes to the kings. Trae has proven he can make any big man a reliable PnR partner, so getting Ivey or anyone else with star potential in the top 4 range would be worth more than what John brings I think.
Idk, hard to replace elite stretch 4's, but a trade off from that to rolling the dice in the draft sounds like a fun gamble (even though it would be absolutely horrible if TS misses)

Bullshit! Causal ass hot take. Al is better than everyone on that list. None of those guys are superstars and we hope Trae gets there one day. Al Horford is the most impactful Atlanta Hawk and the most impactful Hawk since Pettit. No one impacted wins as much as Horford for us. No one came close.
Shit, we just trying to get Trae ass to stop being such a freaking negative on defense so he can take his game to the next level.
If you lack BBIQ, just say it but hot takes like this are garbage as f***!
So we all agree Al is a top 5ish Hawks player all time, some have him higher, others lower.
Now.. Let's get back to the rumor mill: Should we be getting Carmelo Anthony this FA? He's a former all star-future hall of famer Hawks legend, I think he'd be good for morale and some bench shooting.
Also, heard Micic from the Europe may want to come to the NBA, we think we have any chance of getting him to backup Trae? Would be pretty cool to see

Julius is making less than jc even though he’s the much more talented player.
Julius max isn’t a bad contract like Tobias harris is.
Julius won’t make 30mil until the final year of his contract.
Look if you don’t like his style of play just say that.
But Don’t try and act like the dude is a scrub.
He’s better than ever player on our roster besides Trae Young.
And that’s just fact!
I'd say Julius's game isn't really conducive to winning basketball. His best year when he got that contract, he was hitting ridiculous shots at an absurd percentage.
It wasn't/isn't sustainable, and if we got Julius, he wouldn't have the ball in his hands as much, and it's in that situation you have to assess his strengths.
Julius playing off-ball doesn't have the strengths needed atm to succeed in that role, and whenever he has the ball, he's a ball stopper.
Julius may be a more "talented" player than JC, but his talents don't translate to winning. I'd rather have everyone on our roster top down than give any of them up for Julius on his contract.
The Knicks only wanting aging Gallo for their all star who led the them to the playoffs for the first time in forever should be telling lol, we gotta stay away

This feels as good a time as any to start... Lol. Hi yall, been lurking for a while but haven't posted cause I'm shy, but saw the silly argument going on earlier and don't think I can do any worse.
I'll start by saying getting Simmons would be a home run move. As someone stated earlier, Trae was talking with more sympathy and love towards Ben in the podcast, so you've gotta think Trae still really wants to play with him.
Simmons would instantly up our defense, give us one of the best transition players in the game, help up our pace of play, and everyone outside of him on the court will be able to shoot (assuming a Trae/Kevin/Simmons/JC/Okongwu lineup where Big O has learned how to shoot).
His lack of mental toughness is overstated imo, if he gets out of the north east and into the south, I think he'll be met with a lot more kindness than he's used to and will be more comfortable and happy. And we all know how hard happy people work

A little off topic, but I just got a new pup - Mojo - perhaps he can bring some draft day smiles even if things fall through and things don't go as expected..
Still holding out for a Trae x Murray x Hunter x OO x Ayton lineup, let's speak it into existence as Mr Ball would say
