I think this is really an unenviable position but one where we realistically can’t go wrong (or at least can’t be second guessed.
Two elite defensive bigs. One a better post player and rebounder day one. The other more switchable with a higher upside. Both of them address our biggest need but could top out as plus starters.
My worst nightmare would be the FO falling in love with Ron Holland though lol

BI alone with DJ is basically a wash. Two guys who have similar shot profiles who are good enough to occasionally put up a big number but not good enough to carry a team as the lead star. DJ is a better defender but BI is more efficient and offers better length, which is one of our biggest weaknesses, but that’s about it. BI isn’t a bad 3 point shooter, just not a high volume shooter. So he’s still a threat.
BI + Dyson ups the deal because it gives us a young POA defender better than anyone currently on our roster, including Hunter, who is terribly overrated as a defender and gives us functionally nothing else but streaky shooting. We also have a legit need for a rim protector because now we neither have POA defenders or a paint presence that can consistently deter shots. OO is decent but is also a poor rebounder. A functional big who is a primary defender and lob threat becomes a plus offensively playing with Trae and is easier to obtain than POA defenders.

Also a couple thing to remember for BI’s value. We would be trading for him on essentially an expiring and including two talented (one all star) level players on multi year, team friendly, deals. That (should) greatly increases the value on return to us. So it’s not just player for player.
Second thing is any trade of DJ Will need to net us a shot creator/secondary scorer. Trae can’t carry the load himself but at the least we need another secondary shot creator besides Jalen if we want to be a legit championship threat.
Third thing is this playoffs shows me how devoid we are of glue guy in our rotation. I think Vit showed that at the end of the year how that kind of player helps make our roster go. Deandre needs to go Neeeowww to make space for some other wings.

Yeah the hang ups our fan base gets with marginally talented guys with upside is maddening. We overvalue our own talent as fans and get mad when the FO does it.
OO is a good player. A winning rotation player. But he isn’t a full time 5 and now with Jalen ascending he’s blocked at the 4. He’s on a solid, team friendly deal and should be included in any trade that helps us improve.

I'd also do DJM to San Antonio for Zach Collins, Jeremy Sochan, and 2 FRPs.
Who is gonna replace DJs scoring and shot creating in this scenario?

Take away the pick swaps and i don’t hate it
Can they have Hunter instead of AJ? lol

Agree with Knecht as a Bogi clone. But would offer the question of whether anyone thinks Gueye diminishes our urgent need for another wing versus a big?

All three of them move better than Edey.
Hyperbole.

SN: Him and Trae in the PnR would be unstoppable.

His lack of foot speed is overstated. Nobody is drafting 7”4 guys because of how graceful they play on the perimeter or get up and down the court. At the very least his length and rebounding at least give him an interior presence which i think would be valuable on THIS team and significantly make up for some of our perimeter defense limitations.
Plus If Brook Lopez can still be playable at almost 40 and Jokic can dominate playing slow AND under the rim I think Edey will be fine.

I am still scratching my head over Hunter’s absence.
Nothing would make me happier this offseason than to see him shipped away for some mixture of players who can replace his shooting and upgrade his on ball defense and nonexistent rebounding and playmaking.
He really is the weak link that’s holding this team back and no amount of weak metric stats can change what the eye test is telling us.

Im going to take this another direction and ask when we’re going to take a look at our S&C staff. Because it seems like we’ve had the injury bug every season for the last several years .

Bench Hunter was special
Let’s send him back there, permanently.

And Trae hasn’t played well but is clearly not healthy. He hasn’t played great but he missed the last two months of the season and basically got thrown into a playoff series. That’s tough for anyone.

Hunter has done moderately well vs derozen, I guess. Compared to how derozen has killed us before.
Whatever moderate good he’s done on defense has been negated by the absolute nothing he’s given you on the other end.

Remember that time Hunter had a ten game stretch where people thought he had it figured out?
I hope this is the last time we see him in Atlanta.

The bigger issue for me with our team building strategy wasn’t that we didn’t pick the right players as much as players we pick don’t develop. This is what gives you roster flexibility in the long run that we don’t have.
We have so many guys who start out their careers strong and just never take the next step. I’d put Huerter, JC, Hunter, and Reddish on this list (Cam is kind of a bum but still). We are seeing the same thing with OO to to a degree.

I disagree. Isn’t that why we had VC around?

Trae better go to the all star game and really start being best friends with some of the guys. Especially the big men.
There aren’t really any dominant big men who are (1) available on the market or (2) dependent on strong PG play. That list is very short in that it’s basically Embiid, Jokic, AD (none on the block). The second ground behind them are guys like Bam and Sabonis but Bam is the only one who takes significant leaps playing with Trae, IMO and OO at his peak hopefully replicates that.
As for the middle class players, my thoughts are Trae actually helps their game by getting them more open looks, especially on the wings. The problem with JC/Kev is they weren’t aggressive enough (Kev) or weren’t capable (JC) of creating for themselves within the flow of the offense like Bogi (another middle class wing), is.

I think cutting back on his minutes is a last resort a la Eric Gordon, but it helped save his career so maybe it will help.

Dre since returning is EXPLOSIVE off of the bench. Let him feature in that role. Take draft position and contract away and just look at him on THIS roster. He is our best PF option after JJ.
Someone has been beating the Dre to the 4 drum since last season. But I’m not going to take more credit.

Aaron Holiday clearly has a grudge lol

Id give up Hunter for Grant straight up. No thanks of Isaac that dude is ALWAYS hurt. How would he even pass a physical?
Donovan Clingan or Alexander Sarr: Battle of 1st overall pick

I would rather trade the pick for a bonafide starter and save our depth than draft anyone not named Clingan or Sarr though.
