  1. Idk if id go that far as much as the consensus is Sarr is the highest ceiling player of a bad draft, Clingan isnt as raw, and Edey was just that dominant. It makes the argument one you have to have.
  2. Yeah considering we don’t even need Sarr to score right now I think his greatest value is just the athletic profile to defend the influx of stretch bigs.
  3. I like him but he’s redundant on a team with JJ.
  4. He was a huge bust as a tall wing forward, which they drafted him to be.
  5. If the best we can get for Trae, today, are some middling 1RP. Hold him another year. Those deals will still be there.
  6. JJ can play the 3 and OO has improved his outside shot. It really hinges on who is playing the 2 in this scenario. Even on last years splits, JJ/DJ and 36-37% from 3 would fit well. Even moreso because Sarr is a threat away from the basket.
  7. Apologies. You are absolutely right. i didn’t mean to compare them as prospects and more to group them together as a group of prospects. Holland and Castle profile very differently
  8. Besides his injury issues (and questionable defensive intensity and ability). Deandre cant be the guy we need him to be because doesn’t impact the game if his shot isn’t falling and ironically, for a poor ball handler, needs the ball in his hands to get to his spots. On the second team he was able to seek his shot more versus in the starting 5 where he was playing a secondary role. The result is that he largely defers to other more talented/aggressive players when he is playing with DJ, Trae, and now Jalen. It’s not that he isn’t a player with a skill set. He’s a player that can’t play the role we are asking for him. And because of that we need to either move him to the second unit permanently or upgrade him.
  9. Watching Dallas and it’s crazy how much better they are with a second short creator and a bunch of 3&D guys. Luka and Trae have very similar play styles and weaknesses, despite Luka having more size. Agreed that nobody is trading anything of note for this number 1 pick in a questionable year. That said, picking number 1 also insulates you in the event you do need to Trade Trae later. You, ideally, get yourself a legit superstar to replace him.
  10. Fair but he’s a helluva rim protector. Replace him with Chet lol
  11. OR we could draft a great player to pair with our great player? just a thought
  12. SN: taking some time to look at a few more draft prospects and while there may not be a clear cut superstar, I think there are a lot of players who would thrive with a guy like Trae who would take the pressure off of them to be immediate shot creators. There also aren’t many high end, ready made, college stars, like Edwards a couple years ago who you are comfortable projecting. That said the league is trending back toward big men The strength of this draft are the big men, (arguably our greatest need). I’d let them battle in our in workouts to see who comes out on top. Sarr is a potential do it all big. Switchable POA defender who profiles as the next great stretch 5. Big question make for me is his motor and work ethic. But the kid has tools in spades so if he has the desire to be the best, I would feel comfortable projecting him closer to his ceiling. Clingan/Edey have already been discussed as paint protectors, low post scorers. Steady guys, may not be anything special but high floor players as well. Behind them is a group of guys like Sheppard,Holland and Castle (dog POA defenders who scare the shit out of you if their game doesn’t round out a la Michael Kidd Gilcrest) and shooters like Knecht/ Risacher (who looks like a Peja Stojakovic clone to me) who I’d really like lower in the top ten. That said, the league is tending back towards big men (Embiid, Jokic, Wemby, JJJ, KAT, Gobert, etc) so if you can get a guy to battle with them, you take him in my mind. The good news is our FO was ahead of the curve on Giannis a few years ago and we have a decent track record on finding mid round gems so let’s hope that translates.
  13. I’m sold. Plus I heard Clingan is already had foot/injury issues?
  14. I would rather trade the pick for a bonafide starter and save our depth than draft anyone not named Clingan or Sarr though.
  15. I think this is really an unenviable position but one where we realistically can’t go wrong (or at least can’t be second guessed. Two elite defensive bigs. One a better post player and rebounder day one. The other more switchable with a higher upside. Both of them address our biggest need but could top out as plus starters. My worst nightmare would be the FO falling in love with Ron Holland though lol
  16. BI alone with DJ is basically a wash. Two guys who have similar shot profiles who are good enough to occasionally put up a big number but not good enough to carry a team as the lead star. DJ is a better defender but BI is more efficient and offers better length, which is one of our biggest weaknesses, but that’s about it. BI isn’t a bad 3 point shooter, just not a high volume shooter. So he’s still a threat. BI + Dyson ups the deal because it gives us a young POA defender better than anyone currently on our roster, including Hunter, who is terribly overrated as a defender and gives us functionally nothing else but streaky shooting. We also have a legit need for a rim protector because now we neither have POA defenders or a paint presence that can consistently deter shots. OO is decent but is also a poor rebounder. A functional big who is a primary defender and lob threat becomes a plus offensively playing with Trae and is easier to obtain than POA defenders.
  17. Also a couple thing to remember for BI’s value. We would be trading for him on essentially an expiring and including two talented (one all star) level players on multi year, team friendly, deals. That (should) greatly increases the value on return to us. So it’s not just player for player. Second thing is any trade of DJ Will need to net us a shot creator/secondary scorer. Trae can’t carry the load himself but at the least we need another secondary shot creator besides Jalen if we want to be a legit championship threat. Third thing is this playoffs shows me how devoid we are of glue guy in our rotation. I think Vit showed that at the end of the year how that kind of player helps make our roster go. Deandre needs to go Neeeowww to make space for some other wings.
  18. Yeah the hang ups our fan base gets with marginally talented guys with upside is maddening. We overvalue our own talent as fans and get mad when the FO does it. OO is a good player. A winning rotation player. But he isn’t a full time 5 and now with Jalen ascending he’s blocked at the 4. He’s on a solid, team friendly deal and should be included in any trade that helps us improve.
  19. Who is gonna replace DJs scoring and shot creating in this scenario?
  20. Can they have Hunter instead of AJ? lol
  21. Agree with Knecht as a Bogi clone. But would offer the question of whether anyone thinks Gueye diminishes our urgent need for another wing versus a big?
