  1. https://sportsnaut.com/trae-young-poor-rep-difficulty-of-hawks-trade/#:~:text=NBA-,NBA insider details Trae Young's poor rep around league%2C why,or move Dejounte Murray instead&text=If the Atlanta Hawks plan, value than the homegrown star. NBA insider details Trae Young’s poor rep around league, why Hawks will have to ‘settle’ for far less or move Dejounte Murray instead The three-time All-Star would seem like an easy player to move because of his elite talent as an offensive player. However, during a conversation with Sportsnaut this week, NBC Sports Senior Writer Kurt Helin revealed the poor opinion talent evaluators around the NBA have about Young heading into his seventh season in the league. “They are going to try hard to trade Trae Young. That’s going to happen,” Helin claimed. “But from people I’ve talked to around the league these calls often go something like this, ‘Trae Young, yea, what would that [trade] look like? By the way, is Dejounte available?’ People in the league just like Dejounte’s game better. “Where Trae Young doesn’t defend, demands the ball; he scores a lot of points, gets a lot of assists, will bring your offense up — he’s an All-Star [and] borderline All-NBA offensive player — but there’s a sense that you can’t really build a true winner around him,” he added. “You could with Dejounte. They’ve got to move one of them, it obviously doesn’t work. But it’s going to be interesting to see what they might ultimately have to settle for to move Trae.” There have been rumblings for months that Young’s value around the league has fallen greatly from a peak when he led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021. It also probably explains why the Hawks reportedly had a high asking price for Murray before the deadline because they were aware he had more value around the game.
  2. The other way of looking at is this: What have they won WITH Herb Jones and that stacked roster? They have a need that Jones can't provide and thats called "point guard". Sometimes its not about the player but the team. I'm pretty sure the Pelicans would want to keep both Ingram and Jones but what other team has the asset they NEED other than the Hawks? It takes a BIG name to manage Zion and that crew. I'm not disagreeing with you but there IS a reason for the Pelicans to consider it. A team with very good players but no point guard is like a Benz with no engine. A side note factor in this is this: Last season and maybe this season before the trade deadline, the Pelicans would have asked for Jalen Johnson in ANY deal just like the rest of the NBA. With Johnson showing a propensity for being injured, I'm not so sure thats the case anymore which works in the Hawks favor.
  3. Can you imagine the versatility and defensive acumen of this roster if the Hawks could pull this off? I'm letting the Pelicans have Bufkin in this along with DJM. I want Hunter off the bench where he excelled this season. You can flip flop Daniels and Bogi at shooting guard. pg Young, Daniels sg Bogi, Daniels, Jones sf Jones, Hunter, Johnson pf Johnson, Hunter c Capela, OO, Bruno
  4. I don't follow the NBA collective bargaining agreement or NBA rules as far as the cap because it would take a college degree. If thats a possibility and needed, that would be the way to go. Thats how it is done in the NFL.
  5. You must mean the Falcons and their tampering? lmao On a serious note, CAN you get around the luxury tax?
  6. Because they don't have a true point guard. Which is why the Hawks should be in "come on down" mode with the Pelicans:
  7. I'm sure they already have someone on board that manages the cap? They surely do? The Hawks don't want to go into the luxury tax so maybe they do need several cap experts who can keep them a penny under the tax while building the roster.
  8. Does that block button still work? I'm putting it to use right now.
  9. Thats the Atlanta Spirit we miss. Bring in more voices...
  10. You said " Trade value is different than brand name of the said player." Why must you still argue after someone says they agree with you?
  11. Let me say this another way. I'm the one who brought up Jones initially. You keep trying to put something out there about what I'm saying which is not true. The last thing you wrote is WHY Ingram has more value to the Hawks. BRAND, MARKETING, STEVE KOONIN, THE HYPE. Thats what moves the needle in Atlanta, not getting complete ballers. I would rather have Jones straight up over Ingram because he plays defense at a high level as well as scoring. We are in agreement with that.
  12. No. Jones is the centerpiece of my DJM trade to the Pelicans. I'm the one who initially brought up Jones in this thread so how in the heck do I have a lower value on him than I should? In fact, I'm of the belief that the Pelicans wouldn't give up Jones AND picks in my proposed trade of DJM. Its the Hawks DESIRE TO RECOUP some of those firsts which is gonna dictate how or if they move Young or DJM. Its WHY DJM is still on this roster. Teams don't want to give up players AND picks for DJM, especially with the Hawks not having any leverage. As far as Ingram goes, everybody knows the Hawks need another player who can create his own shots and has length. You getting 20 points from Ingram and he can create his own shot. But enough of Ingram because the Pelicans would not move him. Jones is the guy and he is the better trade because the Hawks are not gonna move off Young. If they can get Dyson Daniels in the deal somehow with Jones the Hawks would instantly be better defensively AND they can keep Young. Heck, throw in AJ Griffin. I'm not opposed to moving Bufkin too in order to get Jones and Daniels.
  13. He is right about that because the Hawks have been rebuilding since 1969...
