  1. to give anything of significance for Walker. He is a FA at the end of the season.
  2. If it weren't for Walker the Hawks would have lost this game. I understand your problem with the TO's although if we had even a semblance of a point guard he would not have to handle the ball so much and set up the offense. Ivey is not and will not be a starting PG in this league.
  3. game but JT lit the Hawks up. I'm not a Jason Terry fan but I thought he played pretty well last night. He is definetly a better shooter by far than anyone on the Hawks roster. The Hawks played well last night. I really liked the play of the rooks. We really need a lot of pieces though for this to be just a .500 team. I did thank Dampier was a laugher. Walker has serious skills, if it wasnt for him, we would have been blown out. Wow, how about Josh Howard!
  4. I understand we had to rebuild this team. I'm just not sure that BK was the man to do it. I agree the defense has to be the key. I remember when we had Hubie and Mike Fratello as coaches defense was the staple. Tree Rollins, Dan Roundfield were very good defenders, there was not a shot that went unchallenged in the lane. Basketball has changed in the last 15 or so years. Todays players are much younger and much more immature. The league is more worried about trash talking than anything else it seems. Heck I remember when I played ball in Hight school that when someone talked a little smack it brought the level of play up another notch or too. I saw a play the other day a player dunked on somebody and just looked at the opposing player and got a T. Come on this is getting just a little ridiculous. Of course being a longtime fan amd business owner I don't care for the "politically correct" crowd. I guess being in my mid-40s and a long time Hawk fan I'm just out of touch. Sure do miss the days of Nique, Rounds, Tree, and ol Tommy McMillen.....................
  5. Nope, we just got the wrong Barry! We don't know what to do with this stiff.
  6. Quite eimply Memhis would not trade for Walker, they already have Gasol at the 4 and Miller and Posey atr the 3.
  7. Been there with you and the others. We have watched this franchise from John Drew, Nique, Rounds, Tree and others. In my opinion the NBA has really changed over the past 20 years and not for the better. Most players today are pampered from high school and it appears all they care about is the hype and how they look on the court. I read this board everyday and I must say with the decline of this franchise things are going to be this way for a while. What did Billy Knight do in Vancouver? I don't necessarily have a problem with Woodson BUT Fratello would have been a much better choice. You can have 3, 5 year plans or whatever but this is a business. If you don't put butts in the seats there will be a problem at the ownership level. While I don't agree much with Ted Turner on life or politics, when he owned the franchise things happened. I thought with Kasten gone we could see a quicker improvement. As I have said time and time again this team will have to be built through the draft and smart trades, very good players will not sign free agent contracts with a franchise that is floundering like the Hawks. I simply do not think this team is going in the right direction. Only time will tell though!
  8. You gotta be kidding! The whole And1 is just a bunch of dumbass street punkers!
  9. He looked ok but his size is a issue. Of course JT is playing undersized in a perfect role for Dallas. We need good young low post players. By that I mean a tough guy who can rebound and play defense, Dan Roundfield for you old timers like me comes to mind. Walker seems to have the game to play the 3 and I personally don't think Harrington is a 3. It's a long process.....but in the process the right decisions at each level are critical.

Being a Tennessee Alum, I watched him a lot in college but I haven't seen much of him at the NBA level. At UT he was lean, blocked shots, had good mobility and could run the court. We should at least take a look at him over some of the stiffs we have on the roster.
  11. I know this means nothing but it's a read: Atlanta Hawks Sure, the Hawks roster has been almost totally overhauled. Trouble is that the selfish, over-hyped players who were shipped out of town have been replaced with more of the same. Antoine Walker has dead legs, a shoot-'em-up mentality, and no interest in playing defense. Boris Diaw couldn't fill the basket if he had a shovel. Tony Delk's erratic shooting will keep both teams in the game. Kenny Anderson's prime is a long-lost memory. Predrag Drobnjak is a stiff. The Hawks' only genuine player is Al Harrington. Give him enough space and touches and he can score against anybody. This is the season where Harrington establishes himself as an All-Star. But so what? Only the presence of the expansionist Charlotte Bobcats will keep the Hawks out of the Southeast Division's cellar. Young players to watch: Rookies, more rookies, and nothing but rookies
  12. Obviously there are some veterans on the team, but get a reality check if you think Willis and Barry can carry a team at this point in their careers. Good Grief!
  13. Yep, I agree it's not gonna be that close. All of the whinning from the lft has made people sick!
  14. I agree that is pre-seasson. Really it has shone something, Josh Childress cannot hit a jump shot at this point, Boris Fiaw is not a player and we have two or three players on the team i.e. Walker, Harrington and future player Josh Smith. Other than those three metioned we have a collection of developmental league players. I will say the jury is still out on Childress but the other players in the draft are showing more promise in the PRESEASON. Thanks for your report.
  15. Disagree, Barry is not the same player as Sura. Hey I'm over it, we'll see if the Hawks are over it later this season.
