  1. Jay, do you think that this indicates another trade may happen sometime soon involving either Diaw or Delk or perhaps someone else? It seems that our back court is still overcrowded with our front court (center) still lacking... Also, do you think that the addition of Lue, who should push the ball up the court more will help the two Joshes? It should help the Hawks transition game which seems to be working for them thus far this season.
  2. I don't like this trade, I mean we're not contending for the playoffs this year, we all know that. So why rush this trade? We could have waited 2 more months and havehis value go up because more teams may need his outside shooting. Why not get a bidding war going with Denver, Houston, and maybe another team? A 2nd rounder would be better than Lue because we could pick up a decent pg in the 2nd. There has been some good talent picked up in the 2nd in recent drafts that are much better than Lue. (Duhon, Boozer, R. Lewis, D. Mason, even Ivey, ect..)
  3. I think one of Chandler or Curry could be had since the Bulls don't want both back. But I don't know if the Hawks should take them. Chandler is injury prone and is really just a 7 foot SF who rebounds well. He gets blocks and rebounds but isnt a great defender. Curry could be MVP some day if he ever put his skills together and focused for a full year. But he doesn't seem like he ever will. One night he could score 20, and the next he could score 5. I'm not high on either one of these players. I doubt we'll be able to get nene. So the 3 I would focus on are dalembert/swift/kwame.
  4. I don't like it. We just need to stay patient with this team and let it grow, add some pieces via FA and the draft. Trade Walker for some picks or pieces or resign him (I'd rather trade him) J-Will and Wright would allow us to be an average team that once again can't win in the playoffs. Let's just be patient and keep our high draft pick we'll have and draft a difference maker at PG or C, like Chris Paul or Taft ect. This is how we need to build our team, and add pieces like Watson, Sammy, and Swift in the offseason. If we did make this trade then say goodbye to both Swift and Watson. Watson will stay with the grizzlies since they would have money and be giving him the starting role guarenteed. PS: I've seen some early mocks saying that the Hawks will draft either Chris Paul or Martynas Andriuskevicius. Andriuskevicius WILL BE A BUST. we want to STAY AWAY from this guy i think. Read up on his weaknesses and maybe you'll agree, some say he won't be ready for another 4-6 years, well...Darko really is up there with Lebron, Wade, and Melo right now...
  5. I never said that mourning could be the 2nd best center in the NBA, just the East. But that isn't likely either, Shaq is obviously #1, and then Wallace probably #2, considering who is able to play at this very moment (so excluding bans, and injuries) he is a top 5 center in the East. But yeah it just comes down to those draft picks. I'm assuming they are the two Denver picks. Thus making the trade Martin and Mourning and Williams, for Carter. I just don't know why NJ did this. They wanted to clear payroll so they didnt resign Martin...ok i guess that makes sense, but to take apart a championship caliber team because of ''payroll problems'' just to turn around and add more payroll? Wow...this is only a good trade if Carter is able to finally tap into his potential and try 100%, and finally joins the likes of Mcgrady, and Kobe, and even Lebron.
  6. I think it was a very good trade for the Raptors. They got rid of Carter who was unhappy there anyways, and in return they got some quality players, if healthy Mourning could be the 2nd best Center in the East. But the real reason it was a good trade for the Raptors is the 2 draft picks they get. Would anyone here be upset if we got those 3 players and 2 1st rounders for just Walker? I wouldnt. Yeah it'd be some cap we are taking on but this is a deep draft and 2 extra picks would be nice.
  7. Wade did pretty good as a rookie pg..oh and he's doing average this year.... Chris Paul is who we should draft. Felton is another possibility, but why Jack? He just hasn't done much to garner a top pick IMO. Everyone says its because he is a tall pg. But he is only 6'3''. Felton is 6'1'' but also has a longer wingspan and MUCH better pg skills. Paul is a true gamer, he can take a team on his back, or set up others if his shot is struggling, plus he is blazingly fast and plays with a ton of heart.
  8. Yeah, they looked improved tonight..but then again they looked just like they did get against the Rockets a few weeks ago, and we all saw what they've done since then. 0 wins. I do like what I'm seeing from Smith though, and Willis played a good game for us tonight. But i've been on this for awhile and thought it was clearly a problem today: Free throw shooting. We lost because of it, simple as that. The improvement i did see was after the 1st we stopped fouling them every time they got down low. We played better defense, and started developing as a team, however, I want to see this continue for at least 2-3 games before i mark it as improvement.
  9. well the hawks played good in the 3rd to..I think its all about the right combo.
  10. The 1st quater was horrible to say the least, but the 2nd was a complete turn around. I think we had the right mix of players on the court at the end and i agree they looked good while running. Josh Smith looked really good on the open court, and I also hope he gets more playing time.
  11. i'm just curious..but is everyone else as outraged as i am? Either we foul them when they are inside or we give the other team wide open looks. It really pisses me off because when i was at the Rockets/Hawks game none of this happened. The only thing that has changed since then that could have made a difference that i can think of is ivey being injured. Mccoy just came in and he at least put a hand in a guys face..and..wow..they missed...
  12. Once again....5 early fouls on the hawks and 0 for new york...am i blaming officiating? NO. I am blaming this dumb idea that we should foul anyone should they get under the goal. I was taught when I was 5 years old and in rec ball to put a hand in the guys face and not to faul..let's just give away free points and free trips to the line every time down the floor. I mean the hawks arent out of it by any means, but if they allow 15-20 extra free throws to the other team then don't count on us winning...
  13. This year as everyone knows is very deep in PG so I hope we get one. I either want Paul or Felton. I see a lot of GT games being from around Georgia and i don't think he is on the same level as those two. Next years draft is actually very heavy in big men. One I would look at getting is LaMarcus Aldridge who is projected to come out in the 06 draft but could come out this year. Chris Taft is another big man with potential. Both are 6-10/6-11. Looks to be some internation big men, and a few highschool big men coming out with some college big men as well in the 06 draft. Maybe we should sign Swift this year and see what happens in 06 and get our big man there? This rebuilding plan isnt suppose to be a one year plan anyways and we are suppose to be building through the draft. What does everyone else think? PS. take a look at www.draftcity.com
  14. Who would score if we got rid of Walker? Joshsmithfan you're projected line up is a joke. There is no scorers on that team, and we can not win with 50-60 points every night. Dalembert may or not be a good player worth 7-9 million like you say. But we do need someone to come in and stop the bleeding in the middle. The other team just get free points down there. But he is not worth 7-9 million right now. (Not saying he won't get it because of his size)
  15. We foul every time someone drives. Yeah it doesn't give them a lay up, but it is easier for any non-hawk to make to make 2 free throws than it is to make a contested layup. We allow them to get in the lane and then foul every time, it is hardly even basketball. I don't like the idea of foul if they get close..will lose every game if we give away points like that.
  16. I know Ivey is just a rookie but man I miss him, he had composure during all points in the game. Something this team really does not have. Remind me why we got the vets in here? Because they sure do not play like vets...
  17. Kenny Anderson was in foul trouble much of the night eventually fouling out so that is why his playing time was cut somewhat. Although Delk is a better scorer, Kenny Anderson does a better job of getting others in job, so the two on the offensive end is a wash assuming someone such as walker or...harrington is on the floor able to score with Anderson feeding them and setting them up. Your right we need Ivey back, does anyone know when he is set to return? I heard a week or so, same for Drobnjak who i was actually starting to like (i didn't believe he would fit well with the hawks at first) I was also impressed by the hustle of Josh Smith, does everyone else notice how he is almost always the first one down on each end of the floor. Woodson not playing him for a few games seems to have really helped him. He is able to anticipate and block shots in a Theo type way. Imagine if we had him and and Theo at the PF/C spots in a game...could be very good in a blocking shots aspect.
  18. I did the read the article and don't understand why you say that we may have no chance? All he is saying is that if he doesn't get an extension and becomes a free agaent then he ''is liable to go anywhere'' which is common sense. A free agent could go anywhere he wishes if a team has interest and the money and the player has interest as well. Walker has not been a life time hawk so loyalty is not a factor. So, if he does become a free agent, then no doubt he will look around to see his options being ''liable to go anywhere'' but that does not mean that he will not come back to atlanta and that there is 0% chance that if he becomes a free agent he wouldn't sign with us, because i believe there is a chance. Baring a trade to gain cap or a sign and trade with us, NYK wont be able to afford him, likewise for many other teams, so we'll see. If it is seen that he is not a great fit for this team then i am in favor of trading him, but i believe he will be a great fit for the future as well as present. Also, on Diaw, I agree his stock has dropped but i think someone would take a chance on a great defensive sf who is a good ballhandler and passer with size. (although i think diaw trys to force passes sometimes and results in turnovers) Adding diaw to a potential walker trade could be the difference in getting a 1st round pick, or maybe lessening the protection on it, or maybe adding more or better young talent. Even if it doesn't result in any of that, maybe getting rid of diaw and his salery would be somehting hawks managment would be interested in doing since he is wasting on the bench anyways, he takes up a roster spot and cap room, and packaging him with Walker could be a good way to 'get rid' of him. I wish we could find a way to get more production out of him, because i believe he could be an efficent scorer and he undoubtfully does possess talent.
  19. If we are out of it by the time the trade deadline is coming around, should we package Diaw and Walker together and see if we can get good young players and picks? What teams do you think would be interested and what type of return could we expect?
