Siakam would be a welcomed addition.  I think the hesitation for many of us is the price.  An expiring is tough to value. Siakam was the primary target on my first offseason wish list (along with Kyle Anderson and Brook Lopez).  If we think Trae, DJ, and Siakam can take us to infinity and beyond, do it.  I think the fatigue settling in from the rumor mill and the mentioned cost to acquire is allowing a sense of indifference to develop.

The East goes through Boston (depth/talent), Milwaukee (MVP/experience), and Miami (culture/toughness).

Regardless of whether Siakam’s defense has taken a step back, he can be disruptive against Tatum, Butler, and Middleton (not really a concern).  Just visualizing his role and how he will utilized to win the East…

For the record, I think Siakam is the better overall player for this team mainly because of Trae's defensive shortcomings and worry about him and KAT in a playoff series, but Siakam isn't without his own shortcomings as it would relate to this team in the playoffs.  I lineup of OO and Siakam as the primary 4/5 could have it's challenges rebounding and playing defense against Embiid, Giannis, Lopez, Adebayo and some of the other bigs in the East.  I think they match up better than KAT and OO, but something to consider.  True contenders build their teams with playoff opponents in mind.  Who is our _______ stopper?  I think what we do at SF if we move for either of these guys is probably as important as getting either of them.

Is clear we need to improve our defense, size, strength and shooting.

Siakam is a good defender but is a poor fit with OO and Murray, really poor fit, we need a shooting big badly. Siakam would destroy our offense and I am not sold on the defense improvement he is going to give, our frontcourt would be undersized and we would have problems with big centers. He is already 29 and we would need to pay him till 35…. Is not a lock he is resigning, I see very little positives.

KAT is younger, fits better with our starting lineup. I think the fit with OO is great and is a real difference maker on offense. I can see KAT, Young, and Bey playing outside while DJM shots from outside and midrange and OO operates on pick and roll. Is a very balanced team. KAT could defend the C where is more confident and OO might defend the PF. This is a real good fit.

I don’t want to give any assets for Siakam, I would prefer to go as we are or trade Capela for a shooting Center as Miles Turner or other

Spacing would be a problem but our offense was pretty good last year with a non-shooter in JC at the 4. I’m not advocating for siakam over KAT. Just pointing out a fact.

I'm neither team KAT nor Siakam, until the JB situation plays out. That's the top prize.

What if all this Siakam to ATL was a massive smoke screen.  What if the deal all along with indeed a 3 team trade with Toronto and Atlanta and Boston as the 3rd team?  Siakam and Capela being the main parts going to Boston with Brown coming to Atlanta and Hunter and others going to Toronto.

  4. I saw it live and watched the replays of it.  Is it possible he was just trying to say "we're cool man" or is it straight trolling?  Either way, I love Trae's clutch performances.  Kid really had a poor game last night, but had ice water in his veins late in the game.  We haven't really had a player like that since "Teague Time".  All in all, I think this team will be maddening at times and extremely fun to watch at times. Looking forward to the high points of this roller coaster season.  I think both Luka and Trae will have good, maybe even great NBA careers though.  They look so much more poised than your average NBA rookies.

I know Carmelo is in the sunset of his career.  I was just making the point that he has been that "superstar" player in the past that has avoided us.

Truth be told, he still doesn't want to play for the Hawks.  I'm about 99.9% sure he wouldn't waive his NTC if we hadn't guaranteed him a buyout once the deal went through.

  6. My realistic get is Marcus Smart.  I don't like his offensive game, but I think he's a good fit next to Trae defensively.  I think Boston thinks hard about matching a strong offer since they've got to consider the contracts they'll have to dole out over the next few years.  The question is how much makes Boston blink without overpaying for him?

For the right amount of money, I wouldn't mind Nerlens Noel either.

Which is not the way you want to sell him in a trade.  At all.

Teague kept Dennis out of a starting job for years.  I hope to god we neither plan to do that with our top pick nor plan to play Young off the ball longterm.

Learning to play off the ball is super low on my list of priorities for Young’s development but I agree that will be the best case result of them playing in the floor together.

Cant wait to see whether we throw our rookie or the suspect defender we are trying to make look good for trades up against an opposing 6’8” shooting guard.

I agree, but he most likely is going to be that anyway unless he goes to PHX, ORL, or possibly NY.  Not a lot of teams needing PG's right now.

I think he's going to be dealt in a YUK deal like Dennis for Biyombo and a 2nd or something like that.  Shorter deal and slightly less $.

I like having size at the SG position.  6'7" and he'll beef up from that 190 lbs he's at now.  I can't stand small-ball backcourts.  He can shoot, pass, and seems to have good awareness, court vision, and BBIQ.  Seems Bud Ball is still very much alive even though he isn't around anymore.

The entire NBA has basically gone to some variation of pace and space.  Bud doesn't have a patent on that, but I agree, he would be the type of player to work well in Bud's system.
