  1. I would have to say on this one, that while I love Horford, Durant is an actual superstar or will be one, something we have not had since Nique. If you can get a player like him, you always take that, because there are only a handful of superstars in the league.
  2. I just was wondering what everyone though would be Atlanta's best lineup if they resign Marvin Willilams? I keep wondering if we would be better with Horford playing PF and Josh playing SF and Marvin coming off the bench? But then I wonder if that would cause Josh to just take more jumpshots. This is my take though. Against smaller teams. PG - Bibby SG - Joe SF - Marvin PF- Josh C - Horford Against bigger teams especially if we can sign Joe Smith to add to the front court depth. PG - Bibby SG - Joe SF - Smith PF- Horford C - Zaza And I would really love to see this lineup once in a while, Bibby, Crawford, Joe, Smith, Horford. Joe would never see a double team in that lineup.
  3. I think he would be a pretty good pick up. They really need an enforcer and he seems to fit the bill, if nothing else to give 6 fouls over a 10 minute period and have a big body to put on some of the bigger centers in the league.
  4. The Knicks may not be very good, but they can score. They have had multiple games where they have scored more than 120 and they are not playing to bad. This won't be an easy game for Atlanta, but atleast they won't have to worry about Knicks playing any defense. Without Joe, it will be difficult to beat them.
  5. I'm pretty excited that we even went up. We went up 8 spots 2 games in. If we somehow beat N.O today, then I would say we need to get up into the top 10, but 12 is pretty good.
  6. http://www.nba.com/news/russell_west_081027.html This is a nice article talking about how Bill Russel and Jerry West see things developing this season. Also they make some interesting comments on players working out during the off-season. But the most interesting things was a brief mention of our Hawks. Bill Russell sees the Hawks as a team putting pieces together. Bill Russell: Jerry, you talked about the Rockets. Yao is retiring from international play. I think that is very important. I told him a few years ago. I said, ”Yao, you’re playing too much basketball.” He’s got this great body and attitude, but he had played three straight years without a break. I said, “Nobody can do that, physically or mentally.” When he got hurt, I said, ”That might be one of the best things that can happen to you because you had to stop playing.” You can’t play too much because mentally and physically the groove becomes a rut. I was glad to see that he was retiring and getting away for a while. Another team that might take one last hurrah is the Phoenix Suns. All their guys are old, but this is their last best year. And Atlanta in the East is putting pieces together to make a run.
  7. I am glad Horford atleast came in a convincing second. He deserved it. I really did not think he had any chance of winning it though. It's not that often that a rookie scores 20 ppg, and really that is the most important number when it comes to ROY. I think if he was up in the 14-15 ppg he would have definelty one. But I sure am glad we picked 3 and not 2. I think we got the all around most solid player out of the draft. Horford is a Beast, and I think he will be a 20-10 player one day. He has a nice offense and I hope that next year we run a lot more plays for him.
  8. I have been visiting this Board just about everyday since it was first created, and before on the Access Atlanta forums. I have been a Hawks fan since I was a little kid growing up in Atlanta. I have stuck with them through everything though and get ridiculed everyday. I can now say I have never been as excited about this team as I am now. I think they have a really bright future with a couple of more additions. I hope they can pull of the miriacle and beat Boston tonight and win the series. Win or loose, the young guys are playing with some heart, and i am proud. But at the same time Boston is a great team, atleast they were during the regular season. This is the first real adversity they have seen all season, the first time they have looked like they were not invincible. True they were without KG for a little bit, but they kept on winning. But the real test for a great team is to see how they handle adversity, and Atlanta beating them twice the way they did will really show the character they have. I hope for the sake of Atlanta, that is that they can't handle it. But if they do win the series, I don't really think that means they are still not the team to beat. All I can say is that Atlanta has shown their character. They are a team that just can't die, and if they advance, they are dangerous, because they are playing out of their minds right now, and the confidece they will have going into the next series will be at a level that it has never been. They have nothing to loose. I hope they beat Boston tonight, and show that they don't have the mental tougness that I was so sure they had coming in. Atalanta is on the RISE.

    Hello

Hello fellow Hawks Fans. I am new to the board at least as a poster. I have been reading the posts on Hawksquawk pretty much everday since it the site began and have been reading the message boards since the Access Atlanta days. But I never actually post. I decided this year I was going to not just be an observer, but a participant. Just wanted to say hello, and let you know that there is a fan up in New York, who loves the Hawks, win or loose, and will be rooting for them all year along with all of you. SharadP
