  1. We all like JT..But the only thing he does better than Bibby is score..Bibby is a natural point guard, JT is a natural scorer..As far as ballhandling, passing, making good decisions, and playing defense, JT is not as good a Bibby..Also, SAC is probably the best passing team in basketball..Most of the time they have 4 or 5 players on the court who are all very capable passers..So saying Bibby's assists went down last year is a silly argument, any guards assists would go down there.
  2. He is also not going to go one the record in talking about trading anyone..That would just be stupid. It is not hard to see why the Hawks would doubt JT's future as a 1 or 2. As a 1, he is not a good passer or ballhandler. He also makes poor decisions with the ball..As a 2, he is undersized. He struggles defensively at both positions. What he is, a great scorer and a great guy. He is lightening quick. He is tough to defend. He is not a superstar..He is not a top 5 point guard, or a top 5 off guard.
  3. I can hear the ranting start...when Lon starts Email over DJ or DG..But as the team stands now, that may be our most likely scenario..I agree with another poster below that according to matchups teams with good, quick, defensive backcourts are gonna give a JT/DJ backcourt fits..because they are both below average for their positions as ballhandlers and we have no other help in our starting five.
  4. Anytime a trade is mentioned everyone tries to wrap Hendu and CC into it. A more feasable scenario is Dion for a 1st round draft choice..We are not gonna get much more than that.

    SG anyone?

I agree, Christie would be the perfect fit. However, I don't think we can get him for Dion..I also agree that DJ will probably be ok, but I worry that teams will attempt to trap JT in the backcourt and force DJ or Big Dog to bring the ball up causing many turnovers.. Personally, I don't care if DJ puts up 10 points a game, he needs to play good D and help with the ball..He needs to work harder on his ballhandling than anything else, cause that is a huge weakness in his game..He can hardly dribble at all without putting the ball off his foot..

    SG anyone?

We need a sg that can provide size, defense and ballhandling. I think DJ can provide 2 of the 3 , but he has no handle. JT is not a great ballhandling point guard. I think the loss of Toni is gonna be felt in this area. With a lineup of JT, DJ, Big Dog, SAR, and Theo...JT has absolutely no help handling or distributing the ball. I think you are gonna see teams put alot of pressure on JT early and make him give up the ball. We will be put into position to have to bring in either DD or E Mail for DJ. As a matter of fact, E Mail might be a very good fit for this lineup. Good defense, decent handle, no shots required.
  7. JT play good Defense?..When? We all like JT, he does bring alot to the team, but so can DD. Why do all of the blind JT loyalists who can't see the holes in his game have to rip the new guy?..They can both help us win.
  8. I agree..NJ is gonna struggle to score points in the halfcourt, and Deke is not much of an outlet passer to start the fastbreak. Compound that with the fact Deke usually cannot catch a pass and you might lose offensively more than you gain defensively.
  9. Was actually thinking of NVE in LA(E.Jones)...Would not want to pattern ourselves after the recent Denver teams...
  10. Those guys for the most part had good ballhandling two's to help them. JT does not have that help..
  11. While I love the move to get Big Dog just like everyone else, I am concerned about our ballhandling abilities. With our projected starting lineup, JT basically has no help to get the ball up the court. DJ is not a good ballhandler at all, and Glover doesn't play defense. I think a good defensive minded 2 with decent ballhandling skills is a definate need with our lineup. Any thoughts?
  12. tmac is back After not posting in forever I come back actually agreeing a little with Diesel on this one. I don't think our coaching staff has much confidence at all in JT's ability at the point. I like JT, he is a very likeable player, but come on guys, the only part of the game he excells at is scoring. He is a poor defender(at both guard positions), and he is an adequate ball handler at best. With a guy like Spree, you get more scoring, and you get a MUCH better defender. With Spree, DJ, and a healthy Theo, we are one of the best defensive teams in the league. I heard EMuss on 790 yesterday and he is very very hi on DD.With a decent backup at the point, this trade might make us much better. We will finally be normal sized and athletic.
