  1. Anyone has ESPN insider? Hollinger put up an article on ESPN "Wrong about Hawks". Want to know what he is writing. Anyone can paste here. Tks.

  3. Hawks.com: Fairly or not, former GM Billy Knight was often characterized in the media as wanted to build a squad of multidimensional 6-8 players. Is there a particular style of ball or talent you prefer? RS: I don’t think so. I think your talent dictates your style. The coaches who have been successful in the league over the years are the ones who adapt to the talent they have and get the best out of that talent. Pat Riley had Showtime when he was in LA, but had much more defensive-minded teams in New York and Miami. It’s not like he came in and said. “This is how I want to play.” He adapted to the talent he had to work with. Jerry Sloan is the same way in Utah – he played one way with Stockton and Malone, and now he plays a completely different style with Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams. I’m not looking to have a particular type of style. I want us to accumulate good basketball players who are capable of playing a number of ways, and then we’ll use that talent to the best of their abilities in whichever way will be most successful. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To find a coach that can adapt to talent. Woody is just the opposite, always trying to impose HIS style to players. If Sund sticks to his principle, Woody should be gone.
  4. Totally agree. I think The Coach is actually holding Acie back. It seems Acie is forced to be distributor, and sacrificing his shooting abibility. That is Coach problem.
  5. just posted on ajc.com. Horford will be suspended for one game. We are going to fight Piston without him.
  6. Joe was doing well early but not late. Why, because he just played too many minutes. The dumb coach is responsible. He should at least try to sit Joe for a few minutes. A fresh Joe is much more effficient.
  7. There is an email given at Hawks.com owners@atlantaspirit.com We can flood them with email petitioning for the firing of Woodson. It is so painful to watch him coaching. I would rather us lose with honors than win with shame.
  8. Do you guys think we will pick up the option on Sheldon. He looks aweful --- He costs 5M. what a waste.
  9. I look at the minutes Joe has played. He has played way too many minutes on average. Could this be a reason that Joe is not playing himself? I think Joe needs some rest.
  10. 5. Atlanta Hawks (added Al Horford, Acie Law) Throw in two more lottery picks to a cast that already includes rising stars Joe Johnson and Josh Smith, and suddenly the Hawks look a lot more like a real basketball team. Horford was one of the top talents in an extremely strong draft, and at his size he'll probably be able to play some center -- a spot where the Hawks have been badly undermanned in the past. I'm less bullish on Law's prospects, but he can't be any worse than the gang that manned the point for Atlanta last season. As with Charlotte, it's possible this team's lottery days are coming to an end. Too bad nobody will be in the stands to see it.

  12. what's the latest status of the ownership fight? How soon can the issue be completely solved? I am really bothered to see the team tangled in the dog fight.
  13. Last season, when Woodson started Joe Johnson one man show, our team lost most of time. However, if he entrusted every one in the team, our team looked much better. So this year, I don't know how much trust he will put on rookie. I hope if he is still so stupidly conservative, I really want him to be fired a.s.a.p.
  14. WOW, a friend who does not work for Hawks knows so much detail. Amazing !!! Sothron, I only trust you. Please confirm this.
  15. They are dealing Marion for pick and cap relief. They are dealing Amare for Garnett (improvement) This is in line with what they want.
  16. Just a guess based on information we have: 1. Sun wants to cut salary to be under the cap 2. Garnett salary is higher than Amare 3. Garnett is better player than Amare 4. Garnett + Nash duo is almost an insurance for champion next two or three seasons 5. Amare is promising but also risky due to kneel surgery So if Sun wants a champion so badly, they will go Garnett. But you are more over salary cap. So before you deal for Garnett, you need to get rid of some salary. It should be Marion. So Garnett trade may be contigent upon Marion going somewhere else. Rumors saying a 4th team may be involved. Most likely it is about Marion. Thoughts?
  17. There are contradicting reports about the Sun-Min-Atl deal. Any truth?
  18. Please note: We are waiting for other teams' FO to give green light. That says that it is NOT the Sonics deal. According to previous latest inf, Sonics already gave green light, and basically is waiting for us to say yes. So don't worry. It must be Amare or Gasol, or nothing.
  19. On Garnett, what should Hawks do to make Amare-to-Atl happen? From Sun's perspective, they don't want Garnett to join Kobe. That will decrease if not kill their chance of champion. I can see Sun may try to hang on to Amare. But if Hawks can somehow "show" they are interested in facilitating Lakers to get Garnett. They will put Sun in a hurry to get Garnett. Thoughts?
  20. I think Sun can get extra benefit by involving Hawks rather than deal with Min directly. They may get pick #11.
  21. A three way trade is talked on ESPN. Sun sends Amare to Atlanta, Garnett to Sun and Hawks' 3 to Min. I think there is strong possibility this may happen. This is why: LA and Mav are pushing hard for Garnett. Imagine if LA get Garnett, Sun's hope for a champion can be put to a halt for a while. So is the case with Mav. So Sun must get Garnett, even though they hate to lose Amare. So at one point, Sun must make a decision on taking chance for next year, or taking chance for the long term. With Nash aging, it is more realistic to go the first option. So I believe Sun will trade Amare for Garnett. With Hawks in the trade, Sun may get exact player in Childess or exact pick rather than straight up trade (Amare for Garnett).
  22. http://newsok.com/article/3069127 By Darnell Mayberry Staff Writer One day after working out for the Atlanta Hawks, Texas A&M's All-American point guard Acie Law on Thursday pulled out of his scheduled workout with the Hornets, which was to be held today at an Edmond fitness center. Law had been scheduled to work out today with a group of guards that included Florida junior point guard Taurean Green and Vanderbilt's Derrick Byars. But his sudden cancellation has lead to speculation that he has received a guarantee from the Hawks, who are in need of a point guard and hold the No. 3 and 11 picks in the June 28 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Law averaged 18.1 points, 5.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds while leading the Aggies to a 27-7 record last season. On Wednesday, Law joined Georgia Tech point guard Javaris Crittenton and Virginia Tech's Jamon Gordon during the Hawks' workout. "I thought it went really well,” Law told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I thought I played extremely well. My four years of college, I think it helps me a lot. Coming in at 22, I think I can make a smoother transition.”
  23. I highly doubt that Yi is out of Hawks' screen. But we can safely conclude that Billy does not repeat what he did last year. He is still waiting for a better deal, mostly likely through trades. From Yi point of view, he worked out for teams like GS, Phily just like purchasing an insurance policy. But you can easily find that the cities he worked out are big with decent size of Chinese (Asian) population. Yi's being in favor of big cities actually put Atlanta in a better bargaining position against Grizzles and Bucks.
  24. I think playing time will be a big factor. Many newspaper in China mention they want Yi to have sufficient playing time. To some degree, Chinese basketball association considers NBA both a business partner and a training camp. There is really not that much politics involved. It is down to business and sports. Atlanta can be a good fit. First, Atlanta is a large city with decent size of Chinese population. Second, Atlanta hosted Olympic in 1996 and is well-known in China. Third, the economic ties between Atlanta and China has grown recently. I bet you know Mayor and Governor recently led a team to China. And there is a strong possibility that Delta will open a direct flight btwn Atlanta and China. Hawks really needs something to become exciting.
