  1. On top of that they got a top 3 pick, they have two potential superstars and they have decent bigs. The Wiz are in a superior position compared to the Hawks.

Really the Hawks are in the best position in the NBA. LAL own D12 and it would be retarded to trade him to LAC regardless of what ESPN says. Atlanta has money for two max deals and have a top 15-20 player in Horf. They have draft picks and solid young role players but they are also in the worst position in sports. They strike out and they are locked in at 6th to 8th seed with 9th and 10th seed being a possiblity but being terrible is not one. So it's really tough to be honest. Extremely tough.

Wait what? Haha. Please clear this up, sir. I don't get those two contradicting comments you just made.

  2. Not happening! If we are truly trying to bring this spurs type brand to the hawks organization we can't believe these type of rumors!Ellis doesn't fit spurs type basketball therefore I don't see ferry going after him

I would not want Ellis playing for us either... Dolf brings up a good point though. There were rumors that Ferry was pushing for us to get Ellis at the trade deadline... Where there's smoke, there's fire...

  3. Fellas, we walked into a rant thread with some Dwight haters. Let's sign Al Jefferson and some other mid tier players and be 1st round and done forever. They will be happy. mattlanta said he wants the team to play like the Spurs. No team can play like the Spurs because they aren't the Spurs. Remember when Woody tried to make us like like the Detroit Pistons. That's how you lose games and lots of them. You build a culture, bring in great coaches who can adjust to their personnel, and you add the needed talent or no coach will be good enough. Some of these posters are shameful in their spite of Howard. The OP put up a video from first take of all shows with Howard in LA to continue his full blown rant. This thread is a joke.

So you don't want us to be like the Spurs?

Leadership -- it's ironic you constantly mock this thread for being a joke yet you've been one of the most active members in it (just saying). And I honestly like this thread, there's been some great points brought up and we've got a pretty decent discussion going on. As for the "Dwight naysayers", I think you're going a little too far with those comments. No one here has flat out said they don't want Dwight at all. They simply acknowledge the red flags that comes with him is all. Others believe those flags weigh more heavily than others...

And might I just add that I also think it's funny you think Howard would actually read through this entire thread to come upon your posts convincing him to come to Atlanta. If he was to make up his decision, I honestly don't think Dwight Howard would make his mind up based on what some member on a message board has to say. :)

  4. Just to clarify where I stand on this... I never said I didn't want Dwight... I just don't see him being the centerpiece of a team winning a championship. The formula must not start with him but with someone like CP3 and Horford, who Dwight would complement very well.

But if we get Dwight -- great! If we don't -- it's not the end of the world. Rome was not built in one day, and I trust our front office to take us towards the right direction with or without Dwight Howard.

  5. I kinda feel the same Spudz but I also have a feeling in the back of my mind that we want to make a splash in the draft as well as FA.What if the Cavs shock the world and take McLemore #1 leaving Noel there ripe for the picking as some mocks have happening?

I wouldn't mind this at all! If we can't get Dwight, a combination of Horford and Noel would still be a pretty nice combo. But damn... All this speculation. I just want it to be the draft already lol.

  6. Nope, I've only read about the first 1/2 of the first book and that was years ago.

My daughter and I talk about what is going on the show and what we think is going to happen, so it's all hypothesizing for us.

    First death next season:

I can't remember her name, but she's the sister of Reek. She's going to rescue him at the end of the season finally. Reason I think she gets it: You don't go into the process of making someone named Reek and have him come out smelling like a rose. Having the rescue fail only continues his torment, especially if his sister dies in front of him.

    Biggest death:

Tywin Lanister. He's killed off 1/2 the Stark clan and now is the time for the Lanisters to start getting it. With Tywin's death, Joffrey is free to be the insane kid-king he wants to be.

    So those are my bets.

I think the first death of the season will be... A white walker! Lol. I think it's playing out to be that the White Walkers will have to be killed off by the remaining dragons (seeing that their weakness is fire). So maybe Daenerys will make out a deal where she gets the throne or something if she helps the kingdoms out. I don't know... And I will go with you on Tywin's death for the biggest!

  7. I will address this post in Private Messenging if it is available. I am not liking your tone and delivery at all. Very combative and quite disrespectful.

Not sure how I'm coming off any more combative or disrespectful than you are... But if you click on a member's profile, it should read something like "Send me a private message."

  8. This sounds quite personal. Was there anywhere I addressed you individually?

No where did I say that as anyone's theory. Why are you forcing ill feeling at me?

I want the Hawks basketball to equal Spurs basketball. But I don't want to go be a Spurs fan like you mentioned... So now what? I'm not trying to force any ill feeling towards you at all, even though you've come in here borderline insulting another member based on their differing opinion. I'm just questioning what you're saying. :)

  9. I've watched Dwight his whole career. This fire nonsense you guys are talking about is bogus. I seen him Orlando show more fire than Al did v. Chicago. I seen Dwight show more heart v. LA in the Finals than CP3 did that year v. Denver Nuggets in the playoffs. Maybe you guys are just jaded from the season he had in LA. That's what it is because this stuff about not being a championship player and being a loser was never brought up at all when Dwight's name was mentioned by fans including Orlando.

You completely missed the point. The point was, if you want a team exactly like the Spurs, go be a Spurs fan.

Lol. Ok, so if we don't get Dwight then you'll go be a fan of whatever team he goes to? Since you want him so bad... That's how your theory goes right?

  10. I actually agree with a lot of what TheRedStripes says about Dwight. Chris Paul and Al Horford are competitors that can single handedly lift their teams game in and game out, but Dwight doesn't seem to have that "fire". All season long the Lakers and their fans have been trying to light that fire, but we only saw glimpses of the Dwight that we all expected to see... I'm not saying I don't want Dwight, but I do acknowledge the red flags that TRS brings up in this thread. I think he would complement Chris Paul and Al Horford's play almost perfectly. Not to mention, having Dwight come to Atlanta would certainly sell tickets and make our team a little more fun to watch.

If you want Spurs Basketball, go to SpursTalk. We want great championship Basketball here.

What? Have you forgotten the FOUR championships that the Spurs have won (and pending a fifth)? It's pretty clear that "Spurs basketball" is indeed "great championship basketball". And let's keep our deragatory insults to ourselves when someone on this board has a different opinion than us please. There's no need to be calling someone a loser just because of his opinion. It's not like he flat out called you out on yours. :)

  11. Well...to be fair, the needle moves every game. The first game is all about who draws first blood. Of course it's a big game, but it's bigger for the Spurs than it is for Miami. The Spurs needed to get one game in Miami, but once that game was decided...it changed the complexion of the series.

There is no way Miami could go into San Antonio down 0-2. The pressure to win games 3 and 4 would have been CRAZY. So as soon as the Spurs put game 1 away, game 2 became an absolute must win for Miami. Game 2 was not a must win for the Spurs...who would gladly take a split in Miami going home to 3 games in a row.

Game 3 was equally important for both teams...a pivotal game for sure, but not necessarily a "must win" because you still have the opportunity to even it up if you lose that one. The Spurs would still have 2 more games at home and could potentially take a 3-2 lead, while Miami would get home court back and put the pressure on the Spurs.

But now that those three games have been decided, with the series being where it's at, Game 4 either closes the series out for the Spurs OR it gives life back to the Heat. It's more important for the Heat this game because their season is on the line. I just don't see them winning 3 in a row against the Spurs should they lose...especially with one more game in San Antonio.

What does that mean for Game 5?

If the Spurs win tomorrow night, then the next 3 games have the same value to them...get ONE win. That's it.

If the Heat win tomorrow night, then the series becomes a best of 3 with two of those game in Miami.

Spurs lose, then Game 5 becomes a must win for them (or they have to win 2 in a row in Miami).

Heat lose, then the season is pretty much over....or, y'know...win 3 in a row.

Bottom line...this is a more important game for the Miami Heat. They simply have to win Game 4.

I can see where you're coming from, but just because a game is more important for one team doesn't make it any less important for the other team. That's why I think EVERY game is a must-win game -- especially because it's the playoffs and double especially because it's the Finals!

  12. Am I the only one perplexed as to why one of the major topics discussed in almost every sports show is always "Is this game a must-win game for the Heat / Spurs?" It's the NBA Finals... EVERY game is a must-win game!!! This bugged me when they asked it on multiple shows on ESPN before game 1, then again before games 2 and 3, and now they're STILL asking it! Sorry if I'm coming off as ranting! Posted Image

  13. So coachx, do you have a list of prospects to really look out for in this year's tournament? I have not been very good with keeping up with the college basketball season, let alone the Hawks this year, but I'd love to at least keep an eye out on a few prospects when I check the box scores, etc.

  14. I'm not a fan of making a different thread on every prospect you like this early before the draft.

    LeBryan Nash of OKL ST.

Is this guy a young poor mans Ron Artest without the "crazy ?" For all the young bucks on here research the St Johns and Indiana Pacers model of Artest...........not the Lakers model.

    6'7'' 230 lb

From that video scouting report, he only looks kind of like Artest and doesn't really come off to me as a "poor man's Ron..." A poor man's Ron in my point of view would be someone who can play gritty defense and would have inconsistent offense, which is kind of the opposite of Nash's strengths & weaknesses.
