Cam though....just a crazy feeling of what will happen with him and for us. He reminds me of Alvin Robertson but with so much more offensive skill around the corner.
I get the sense Cam will do whatever it takes to realize his ceiling as a player. He has a great attitude and work ethic too apparently or Schlenk wouldn't have put himself out there saying that Cam could be the best player on the roster just rencently.

Agree, following his numbers though is really weird because his volume for stats is so low most of the time. Offseason is key for everyone but our rooks will benefit tremendously more than others. Just think Hunter has suffered more than everyone with the minutes required. Cam has held up better in my view.
Its like Cam and Hunter swapped bodies. One would expect Cam to hit a wall and struggle like this. I am very excited about how they both look after offseason and preseason at the start of 20-21.

so if we could redo year 2 (traes year 2) and If we knew he was going to take off like this ....if Schlenk puts average vets around this team and if Collins dont get suspended I truly wholeheartedly believe that we are a 7th or 8th seed right now or 9th seed maybe a game out the playoffs.
thats a lot of ifs my friend lol

Agreed, the roster shouldn't all be twenty somethings for several big reasons.
its worked well for Memphis but their vets are very solid, healthy and near prime. Valinciunas and Crowder. I guess they just traded Jae so we will see how they perform without him.

With the past couple of days think my outlook at the top six guys has changed a good bit with good health involved. Trae, Cam, Kevin, JC, Clint and Dedmon. Hunter is really struggling but will see his way through. Other than defense not expecting so much more from Hunter this season because he hit the wall a ways back. Bruno is the developing bruiser for now. Anyway like the construction a whole lot more now. As good a job as could be expected by TS during this deadline thing.
Quite frankly, I was shocked to see Hunter's numbers somewhat solid over the past 10 games. He is turning the ball over a little much but is shooting 3s around 35%, 43% FGs overall.. I am disappointed in his performance overall this season but I think he got hurt the most by Collins suspension having to fill in at the NBA 4 where he is out of position, while at the same time trying to adjust to NBA 3 where he is out of position relative to VA Cavaliers where he played College 4

This is a more position by position break down. Who you think has the advantage and why.

Whoever wrote this up believes Grizz return to the playoffs in 2023. If the Grizz are doing this KB's way, if this person is right, they still miss KB's 5 year window.

I would like more free throw attempts from Huerter.
Lloyd has wanted more FT attempts from Heurter since 18-19... I think he was trying to take it to the rim and draw fouls until he ran into the Joker, hurt his shoulder, now is gun shy to drive in traffic

His defensive issues are all rookie things that will get worked out. He and Cam together on the defensive end will be nuts in the next few years.
Once the starting unit Young-Cam or Heurter-Hunter-Collins-Capela gets a chance to gel in 20-21 season that is going to a solid defensive unit. The bench with Teague or Goodwin-Cam or Heurter-Bembry-Bruno-Dedmon not shabby either.

Wonder how they gonna feel next year when they are near the Eastern Conferance cellar paying the man 29 million for 20-21. There is no way he is going to test the market. He may not prefer Cleveland but the money will anchor him.

I'll be interested to see how Houston holds up against length and athleticism. They'll catch hell with both the LA teams. It wouldn't surprise me if they struggled with teams who have good guard play as well (like Portland). The difference in those kinds of match-ups will be rebounding.
if Nurkic comes back healthy Portland is a bad matchup for them.. Dame and CJ will give em hell

This team was not initially constructed to win at a sustainable level. At least not initially. They were going to be bottom 5 in any imaginative conclusion for this season.
Not initially but the biggest factor to change that has been Young's surprisingly rapid ascent. Had John not missed 25 games and Heurter not missed as many games as he did, the moves that Schlenk just made could quite possibly have easily rode the Hawks to the 7 or 8 seed in the East. Most likely too deep in the hole now, but I expect a .500 team from here on.

I agree with you but honestly, I agree with AHF as well. This team we seen in December and January with the rooks. But Cam was awful in the preseason and October and November. He would have cost us games. Huerter wasn't Huerter those months either.
It would have been tough even if Collins wouldn't have been suspended.
This team of late is a 500 team though. They been playing much better as a group but then again, Jeff and Goodwin is a big part of that and they weren't on the opening day real roster. So we have a lot of reinforcements that wasn't here to start.
I've said it for awhile, I really understated the lost of the wings and Dedmon, especially Dedmon. As of right now the wings are coming together nicely, especially Cam but we still look horrendous center wise. Obviously we brought in reinforcements which will massively help.
You made an excellent point here Supes that I hadn't thought of before. We have discussed Schlenk over estimating the contribution that vets such as Parker, Crabbe and Turner could make but I think he also under estimated the contribution of the departing vets Bazemore, Prince and Dedmon (who he has now returned).

I'll be looking forward to the lottery. I'm really intrigued by Halliburton. He leads his teams in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Plug his numbers into player finder and you will see 4 college seasons in history with per games averages better than 15 pts, 6 reb, 6 assists, and 2 steals. 2 of those players played in major conferences. They were Penny Hardaway and Jason Kidd.
Halliburton has definitely been on my radar. That is pretty good company

It was one of the least enjoyable seasons I've had in Hawks history
Ditto.. that season made me realize how badly this team needed to rebuild. There was no hope to contend or possibly even continue winning games at a respectable clip keeping that team together and no FAs wanted to walk in that door.

Glad I'm not the only one who felt the disrespect. It's like...nobody knows that Trae is actually a legit PG. Not just a passer...dude is a playmaker. He will be throwing MAD lobs and picking LeBron's team apart..
I may have misread but I got from Giannis that Trae wasn't a passer rather a chucker. Or were they referring to Harden? Anyway thats definitely not how Trae plays, he is definitely a willing passer. If he had Dedmon and Capela this whole season he would probably be averaging 12 APG

I don't understand this trade at all for either team. Is Cleveland the only team desperate enough to give him a full max deal?
I feel either they will or Charlotte will do that or bid for him more than anyone else and he will take every last dime he can get.

Capela and Skal might be out for a long while.
I'm hoping Capela starts getting limited min after ASB with the Hawks conservative training staff led by Chelsea Lane... D'antoni had said his heel was doing better 'good enough to play half the back to back'

I hear you but it isn't like he is stuck there. He can sign with any team in the league in less than half a season. Cry for someone who is locked in for years with a franchise they don't like.
If Drummond wants to be with a contender he better set aside his intent to get a max.

Please give us more detail about who we could have gotten that we can't just wait until free agency to get while adding an asset we can trade in the future for an even better player.
I must say Jones has shown some improvement lately. He's not fouling out of games in five minutes and he's getting better at grabbing rebounds.
He also had a key blocked shot down the stretch when wolves were trying to make a comeback.
