I think it’s time to put together a package for a real big. It sucks we didn’t get Ayton. It’s clear now Clint Capela overacheived. Trae isn’t perfect but it’s crazy to believe he’s the problem. Problem is we haven’t fixed the hole at C we’ve had since last year.

I remember trying to explain to people here that Hunter is a top 3 and D wing but had no way to really quantify it. This just confirms it. Thanks.

omg. that whole list is so weird. But i have a question. I'm not a Luka hater, the guy is amazing but someone tell me why he's not James Harden. Harden didn't get this much accolades even in his prime.
The most interesting thing really..is they have virtually the same impact on the court AND have had very similar career paths thus far. However, somehow Luka is way better when you talk to casual fans. Then when you ask how…it’s 4 rebounds per game (lol)

Man it might be time to fire Emory or whoever our trainers are..

I’m excited at the prospect of one of our young guys making a big leap…between DH, JJ, or OO. Also our lottery pick may be able to give us something from day one as a shooter. The Hawks are objectively better. The elephant in the room for us is health. Can we keep CC, JC, and Bogi healthy ? They are all very important veterans and we just can’t seem to keep them on the floor especially come playoff time.

Lakers cannot find a taker for Russell Westbrook after immense effort to get something done. They are left to decide on whether they want to make another go of it, or if they should explore buying him out.
A buyout gets done.
And the next day, Shams reports that the Hawks are among the teams that have indicated some interest, supposedly under the premise that he would get a half-quarter's worth of minutes at PG, and otherwise would be part of the SG rotation as well... much to the chagrin of Mr. and Mrs. Holiday who realize immediately that whatever minutes RW takes are almost certainly minutes that their sons would have gotten.
What quotes you read from him are interesting for their humility--it sounds like RW genuinely is looking for a role where he isn't one of the stars on the team, but is a contributor.
Do you find yourself tempted by the idea, or do you find yourself repulsed and worried that it could have legs? (hehe)

Nah, just flow with it. None of us know if you listened or not. Just toss some rumors out and cite "sources". Shiiiii, that's what BSPN does.
The tweet writes itself....
"According to ....... sources with knowledge of Collins' way of thinking, JC wants Young traded and says he and Westbrick chase triple-doubles."

Probably a matter of line drawing. I think of the top 3&D guys as the top guys who are plus defenders and proficient 3pt shooters. Kevin Durant has qualified for this in the past. Kawhi Leonard has definitely been the best 3&D guy in the league in certain seasons. For me, it is more about what the player can do and 3&D guys are plus defenders who also spread the floor and improve spacing on offense.
Sounds like you are using the term not as simply noting proficiency in those areas but also incorporating the concept that the player can’t be good enough to be more than a role player. So if a guy is a 3&D guy but becomes a star or a complete player then they are too good to be a 3&D guy anymore.
So that makes sense why he isn’t on my list but makes yours after you eliminate most of the guys who are clearly better than him by virtue of your definition.
I want to see Hunter enter the conversation of 10 best 3&D players by my methodology.
This is just about correct. I am implying that said player currently isn’t more than a role player. I do believe he could be more than that. Which is why I wouldn’t include KD, but would include Klay as someone who would probably be top of the list.

What is he top 10 at? I haven't seen it. I like him and remain excited about his future but he is in a position where he needs to prove he can step up for more than a hot couple of weeks. Most of his career has been very mediocre. I'm hoping the playoffs and a healthy offseason are a lead into him breaking out this season.
As far as his trade value, we have no idea whether he has significant trade value or not. The only trade offer any of us know about for him took place at the time of the draft. I am sure the Hawks got offers for all their starters this offseason and didn't like any of them enough to pull the trigger. (The Huerter offer would have been laughed at had we not been essentially dumping him due to congestion after the Murray trade. Huerter absolutely got traded for two JAGs, a pick, and cap relief). In the absence of a reported trade offer, it is hard to gauge anything. All we have on him is the kind of vague rumor like "Utah wanted him in a trade scenario for Rudy Gobert" but that doesn't tell us much unless we also know the rest of the package. Were they offering Gobert straight up for Hunter plus filler? He has star trade value then. Were they offering Gobert for Hunter plus three unprotected first round picks and a pick swap? Then they view him as equally valuable as a 2029 protected first round pick. Not quite the same. I think all we can do is speculate as to his trade value today.
He’s a Top 10 3 and D player. I’ve said this already. I’m not going to waste time arguing this bc defense is not something that is very quantifiable. But he is a very good defender and a 38% 3pt shooter. I can’t name 10 role players in the same role who are better.

He's not top 10 at anything. He has to prove that on the court, he hasn't.
Sure he has. If he was just another guy, he wouldn’t have trade value.

So now Ayton is officially off the table huh ?

At worst, he’s a Top 10 3D player.
At best, he’s a 16-20 ppg player who can make an All Defensive team.

I’m still holding out hope we get Ayton.

Sorry if this topic has already been started but I’m just curious as to what’s going on with my Hawks.
I get they’ve been struggling this season but if I see one more post about Trae or DJ in a potential trade I am going to scream.
We finally get our superstar out of the draft after having god awful luck and are now going to blow it up ?
So what’s the deal guys ?
