    Flipper?

Just as a fan, without looking at %, money, pt, and roster spots available, I would love to have Flip back. I really enjoyed watching him help the Hawks last year. He is a grown man, and as long as pride doesn't get in his way, and get his feelings hurt, he could still help the Hawks with reduced minutes.
  2. How many of you really believe he says that in the locker room? He said what he had to say to some reporter, but in the locker room he is telling his team that they are better than whoever they are playing, doesn't matter if it is Cleveland, LA, Boston, or Orlando. He is telling them they deserve to win and to go take victory. Do players on this team respect Woodson? Absolutly. Joe Johnson does. Mike Bibby does. Zaza does. I would even bet Josh Smith does. Josh was a kid when he got here and naturally rebels against the coach because he is like a father. The players said many times last year, even after losing a game, that the game plan was right, and they were unable to execute. Woody has obviously done his share of losing, but he has done what he can with the teams he has been given every year. He is still growing as a coach. The players are still growing as players. I can't wait to see how far we can go this year, the next year, and so on.
  3. I was pointing out what others said about Marvin. I do agree with some things, mainly his aggression, but I truly believe Marvin will be a beast in the leage (especially if he went to another club and was the first or second option). I want Marvin in my team for the next 10 years.
  4. I see why people call him clumsy, he can't finish, doesn't get to the line enough, and every other negative we can throw at him. Last year Marvin was a 14 ppg player. That was a 22 and 23 year old player still learning the game. I do not want to sign the Marvin of last year. I do, however, absolutly without a shadow of a doubt, want to sign the Marvin of the next five years. Without looking at the "numbers", only by watching every game, how can you not see his potential. He is a team player, a positive impact on the court, always clapping, and trying to keep everyones spirits high when things are not looking so good. He can shoot, defend, rebound. All he needs is the chance to put a game on his shoulders, and be the man. As he gets better, 17 pgg this year, 19 ppg next year, followed by three years of 21+, the leage better watch out. He will be a top sf in the NBA.
  5. When i said three years, I am talking about each player in their given system. Chris paul is in a system specifically made for him to put up his numbers. I am saying I believe our team as constructed with Marvin, will be a better team than Chris Paul's.
  6. Let's give it three more years before we call drafting Marvin a mistake. He is a talented, hard working team player. His numbers do not indicate what type of player he is. I also can see why everyone wanted Chris Paul, but Billy had a job to do, and had his own timeline to build the team he envisioned. He had a plan and stuck to it. If Sheldon turned out to be Ben Wallace, he could have really been onto something. We all know it has not turned out the right way yet, but we are still on the way. If we had taken Paul, there would be no Horford. What if David Andersen comes over this year, and puts together a great season for us? What if our Atlanta Hawks win 55 games this year and advance to the ECF with all our starters from the Billy Knight era. Let's see what Paul and Williams do the next three years before we pass judgement. I am a firm believer that Marvin can be a 20/8/3 while playing great man on man and team defense. I believe after Joe leaves, this will be Marvin's team.
  7. I think woody has done a great job, and deserves to be the coach of this team. The 20 point losses on the road suck, but that happens everyday in the NBA. The one thing that I really love about this team, is when i think about my son, i would want him to be a professional (like JJ), and want him to play for a coach like Woodson (tough coach who i believe really cares about the players on this team).
  8. I COMPLETELY AGREE IT WAS NOT A VERY HARD FOUL, BUT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A FLAGRANT DUE TO HIS INTENTIONS OF MAKING SURE HE PUT MO ON THE GROUND. IT WAS PHYSICAL PLAYOFF BASKETBALL REMINISCENT OF THE 80'S, BUT HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING, AND DID IT IN A WAY THAT LOOKED LIKE HE WAS GOING FOR THE BALL. HE GOT HIS FEELINGS HURT, AND RETALIATED!
  9. How could you be ashamed of this team. How many of our players quit? Who laid down? Who gave up? I believe the refs are scared to call fouls on Boston. The first quarter, and the final couple of minutes all went bostons way. Joe missed a free throw, but i bet he will be shooting a hundred free throws today. They are professionals, and played as hard as they could.
  10. PP looked like the grinch in the picture with Marvin!
  11. I was very proud of Marvin Williams against Boston. He was down low a lot and was not backing down from KG at all. I know he has a bad rap due to his draft status, but I enjoyed watching Marvin Williams play basketball Wednesday night.
  12. I just wanted to say Thank You to Dolfan and all of the Hawksquawk members. I have been following you guys for about two years, and check in daily to see what the next topic is. I am 27 and have been a Hawks fan for about 17 years. I took a break during the JR Rider era, but have been around since Spud and Nique, lived through Koncak, A Henderson, with my favorite time during the Mookie and Smitty era (Mookie is my favorite Hawk of all time). I enjoy the debates and conversations about our Atlanta Hawks and the rest of the NBA. So thank you Diesel, mrhonline, hotlanta, djlaysitup, ahf, exodus, and everyone else that give your time, insight, and dedication to OUR ATLANTA HAWKS!!!!! ps- I can't stand Paul Pierce
