I did not like Dennis' game. Horrible shot selection. Your PG has to learn how to play within the rhythm of the game and I witnessed too many times where Dennis (aka Lil Josh Smith) would kill flow/momentum by taking a dumb 3. I also became concerned with his poor fashion sense I feel jewelry should only worn by a women; Class and weeding rings are borderline acceptable for a man.
Also, why not play Melo? Seems the plan is lottery or bust so why not give fans a little star power to go with all the losing?
-
What does it say about Melo that the Hawks are going to pay him not to play? And what should we interpret about the Hawks plans for the coming season that they would rather lose than win a few more games with Melo.

I don't think he will be a star player at this level. He can be a productive player. Him trying to prove he belongs is causing him to be an extremely inefficient player in summer league. there is a good chance his inefficiency will only get worse once the season starts. I. feel bad for Lloyd Pierce. Seems he will have a headcase in at PG no matter the lineup.

Scoring is overrated. When I think about HOF players my mind immediately goes to great passers. Great scorers is directly below great screen setters.

Travis Schlenk is BK Part 2, in the worst possible sense. Basically, he thinks he’s smarter than the rest of the league and ends up drafting based on his personal obsession rather than intelligent analysis.
With BK, it was unskilled 6’8 forwards (including Sheldon Williams). With Schlenk, it’s apparently unathletic shooters who play no D and wouldn’t have been picked within 5-10 spots of where Schlenk took them by any other team.
We had Doncic. We could have had JJJ, too, or even Bamba. But no...we took the No. 3 pick and threw it in the garbage by drafting an unathetic 6’1 chucker who plays no D, airballs 3’s early in the shotclock, and likely would have been available at 12.
Oh, wait...almost forgot we also got that pick from the Mavs...except we know for a FACT it won’t be in the top 5. And even if it was, it’s likely a weaker draft—and I no longer trust Schlenk to identify talent—so extra picks to throw in the garage offer me no solace.
Get rid of Schlenk now before he picks again! (And no, this isn’t an over reaction to one summer league game...I felt even worse about this pick on draft night the moment they announced that trade.)
At least Trae can pass if he puts his mind to it, but he’d rather jack up terrible 3’s. Why turn the No. 3 pick into this guy? I’d be more surprised if he made two all-star teams in his career than I would be if you told me he’d be coming off the bench for the rest of his career after his rookie contract. We’ve been down this road before....
Bravo! I applaud you for having the guts to openly say what many are thinking but are afraid to say. I hope the kid works out but the eye test is telling me it will not. Schlenk is playing the emulation game. I can not think of one time where this worked in sports.

Hawks path to the Finals just got exponentially easier

Trae Young is a bench player in the NBA. I hope I'm wrong. His slow feet and lack of athleticism does not give me hope. I hear the Curry 2.0 stuff but I don't get it. My best comp is Jimmer Fredette.
-
It's deja vu all over again. I know we have some old heads still around. I can't help but to think that the Hawks are back in copycat mode. At some I hope the Hawks get the guts to lead rather than chase.

I said Dennis was not a starting PG in an earlier post. I overreacted. The kid is a bit undisciplined at times but the kid has heart. I can tell he wants to be a better player and that goes a long way with me.

What exactly is so great about him though? I see a guy that does not have a high BBIQ for a point guard, and is not a natural shooter. The Lakers were daring him to shoot tonight, and when he drove to the basket they were ready to block his shot. If anybody here thinks he is suddenly going to become a Steve Nash/Chris Paul type maestro, prepare to be disappointed.
this post sums up my thoughts exactly. Schröder is a player you bring off the bench. Hope bud wakes up and bring in a legit PG to run this team.

C'mon guys. All of this is moot unless the league changes the hack-a-Howard nonsense.
-
So where will the tight-game 4th quarter offense come from since our "superstar" player will most likely be on the bench.

The Hawks have never been able to keep LeBron under control and I don't see it happening any time soon.

So 65% says the Hawks can't win a title this season. It's clear that many here are still shook from that dreadful Cavs series.

I know it's popular but still makes me nervous. I wish they took paypal.
Sometimes their streams can be a bit slow. I have 25 Mbps internet and it still buffers and lags.
