Plus freakin' one for campster once again.
How can anyone think Hinrich is not an upgrade over Bibby is beyond me.
-
I guess you close your eyes when Jamal's in the game?
Very good point.
-
I hope he'll play PG even when Jamal is on the court.
-
Bibby had been playing well (taking into account his obvious limitations) but Drew for some reason decided to play him more minutes than Mike could take.
-
In last several games the ball movement was almost nonexistent. Hawks as a team haven't shot well and gone inside even less than usually.
-
Sources said that D-will had no idea about the trade and it is not happy about it.....
Not surprised if true. AJ is a control freak, DWill won't like him.
-
That game was so ... lukewarm. Derek freakin' Fisher scores first 6 points and sets the tone for the game. It felt like it's over at the half of first quarter.
Josh really was off the rhythm early and then game was already lost. Guards shot collectively bad, and rebounding was non existing.
One good thing was solid bench play vs their bench (excluding our bigs). Teague made some nice passes but Powell missed several wide open jumpers he usually makes (but haven't played for so long that I'm not surprised).
-
Bibby - yes, but should play less.
JJ - no strong opinion, after coming back strong from injury he's sort of invisible lately. I want my January JJ back!
Marvin - yes, coming off the bench he's solid forward sub. Just keep him where he belongs
Smoove - yes, sometimes takes bad shots, but overall plays very well.
Horford - yes, but... He should score more (not exactly his fault) and rebound a little bit more.
Coaching - no strong opinion. He had tough start, made good adjustments, played Teague consistently, did decent job when JJ was out. Now young guys don't get PT, Hawks had some epic colapses, Bibby is tired, bench sucks more than ever, Jamal including. He needs to adjust again.
Management - no.
-
Mike had the best game of the season - he made 4 lay ups (!), stole ball a couple of times and dished out some nice assists.
Despite that Josh has to be Hawk of the game for playing great on both sides of the court after bad start. Pistons couldn't buy a bucket inside and when threes stopped to fall they had hard time to get anything going.
JJ has been playing bad in loses vs Phili and Bobcats and last game wasn't the best one neither. If Josh has stretch like that, he's sent away to the moon by fans. He has one bad game offensively and he's bashed like he's the worst player on the team. What they both have in common is being good defenders. Jamal, on the other hand, is not. And after going for 34 points he averages 5 points in 4 last games. Somehow not a single thread bashing Jamal has appeared on HS.
-
That's kind of game Hawks usually choke in. Al's not 100% - he was getting more rest than usual against Pistons and struggled from outside.
-
Yes, Josh isn't perfect and has some flaws, but so do other Hawks. Why is he bashed more than anyone else?
Why none of Josh critics tried to guess what numbers posted by HawkNJersey mean?
My guess - these are points scored by Josh and Joe in recent blow outs. Am I right?

Nash to Knicks doesn't make sense, Felton is a border line all-star, Fields is a stud and they're not in "win now" mode yet.
Mayo to Bulls - spot on.
-
I think steals are a very overrated defensive stat. It usually means the player gambles in the passing lane. You might get steals but you also leave your man open when you miss.
That's oversimplification. Stealing by getting in passing lanes is only one the methods and even then, when fails, it doesn't have to lead to advantageous situation for opposing team (although often does).
Steals are of the way to avoid losing a basket and often lead to fast break points which are the easiest way to score. You can't overrate that.
-
I'm with you, DJ. When JJ has bad shooting night he "at least does other thing well, makes his teammates better etc", when Smoove doesn't shoot well, he's eaten alive.
BTW, how the heck he managed to get 7 assists in that game?
-
Dense as a rock !
Either I somehow missed the point or failed to express what I mean comprehensively. Hawks are 12 - 5 in games decided by 6 points or less. So only 5 of those games are included in average lethalweapon has presented.
On the side note these are only 17 of 52 played games so apparently Hawks don't like when game is undecided to the last moment.
-
He's also a decent big, better than anyone we have on our bench.
Nice gesture from a fellow former Hawk.
-
This looks only at the losses, not the victories.

Yes, I know. Hawks win most of close game, so their loses are usually by significant to large margin.
-
If it's Hawks the reason must be they usually win close games :thumbsdownsmileyanim:

Wolves?

Zaza shouldn't start. His energy seems to be at higher level when he comes from the bench. He can't stop penetration. Twin is way much better defender.
Bibby gets bashing, but Jamal is not much better, esp. considering his physical make up.
-
I don't think Smitty was going to stop Dwight. I'd give Smitty/mookie/deke a good chance though.
In Woody's defensive system you'd see Deke chasing Nelson and Mookie trying to defend Dwight in the post.

Hoopinion has this interesting article on that matter: Production is in the eye of beholder

Just because a lot of Hawks fans are pro trade Josh Smith doesn't mean they don't have any respect for the guy's game or what he has done for this franchise.
That's good point. I was aiming at posters going way beyond 'Smith is a good player but he's not the best fit for the team' theme. And honestly, Josh gets little credit and a lots of criticism of late.
But if Josh's inconsistency and sometimes childish behavior on the court don't concern you, then maybe those fans are not being objective and are the ones not looking at what's best for the team.
There's not such a thing like objective human being, objective opinion and such.

Here's a mix:
Looks like athletic guy that likes to attack offensive glass and can block a shot.
