  1. Welcome to the Squawk! I can tell you are new around here because a veteran squawker always seizes any opportunity to tie in Marvin Williams and his draft status. With the topic involving UNC basketball you missed a golden opportunity there.

Better luck next time -- stay with it and you'll soon find your way.

He could at least mention that Woody's team had better record, JT needs more playing time and we should trade JSmoove because this team needs a star caliber PG and center.

  2. Played well against the Raptors and Clippers? Against the Raptors, he muscled his way to a pile of jumpers. He shot ZERO free throws and had one offensive rebound.

So 11 boards is not good effort when only one of them is offensive? It is part of team strategy not to crash offensive boards but focus on transition defensive.

Smoove had also 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks. Scored 18 points on 9 of 14 from the field, but it's not good 'cause he shot jumpers?

Against the Clips he had 10 points, again no free throws and was 5-13 from the field.

True, but he had 5 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals while commiting only 1 foul. Also defended Griffin very well.

He has developed an allergy to paint and or/contact.

While I agree that he spends more time on the perimeter than last year your statement is a bold exaggeration and your post is typical example of hate from many of fans because of Josh bad shot selection and whining to the refs. But take a look at bigger picture, shooting is not everything that counts.

  3. How come Jamal drops 34 points and no word about it in this thread?

What about JJ one assist and one rebound away from triple double?

Griffin had to work hard for his 19 points in this one and love it.

  4. Guess what...it is working as we are winning. We have an excellent passing team and if you checked we have 5 guys averaging more then 3.4 assists. That is unheard of. Bibby does not need to do all of the distributing.

I don't deny it. I was just writing about Teague and Bibby comparison in regards to turnovers.

  5. Bibby has a 3.0 A to TO ratio while Teague has a 2.0 so no it's not better and that's not good enough to be the starting PG. Bibby isn't the perfect PG for the Hawks but he's the best one we have on the roster right now.

This stat is VERY misleading. All Bibbs do is bringing the ball up court and then wait to take shot. The fact that he has any turnovers is surprising. Teague on the other hand is asked to be as aggressive as he can be, which have to lead to more TOs. At least he makes some plays for others.

I think Mike should be starting but get less minutes.

  6. Raps are a horrible team right now. They shouldn't be able to get close in the second half, win's a win though.

Josh would have get foul call on that dunk (he was pushed by Calderon) if he haven't had been whining to the refs the whole damn game.

Joe with another big game, Al's been quiet lately, Bibb's shot is off, Jamal turned into spot up shooter, Mo was hot, Jeff had like 4 turnovers in 15 mins but also several good plays, Zaza moved well without the ball but wasn't rebounding well, the ball moved well.

Iso Jamal at the end of a quarter hasn't been working for some time.

  7. When you are using the "big" lineup selectively against opposing lineups that are better inside than they are outside, you will expect that those lineups will not to shoot as well from the perimeter. When the writer is emphasizing that a lineup is being used in limited and strategic fashion, I think it is a mistake to take those results and generalize them as your comment suggests ("opponents don't shoot as well from the perimeter") unless you disagree with the assumption that the lineup is only being used in limited and strategic circumstances.

First team that I thought of, we play big against and can shoot threes is Magic. Although they might not be that good this year from outside, I wouldn't take your statement for granted.

  8. I hear you all but what Drew should do? It's not like he someone else to sub in. It was b2b game and he can't have starters all the time on the court.

The only problem I have with him when it comes to substitutions is not giving Teague consitent minutes. He's not good enough on D? C'mon, Bibby or Jamal is? Develop him and eventually dump if he, given real opportunity, doesn't produce.

The other thing though is not going enough with Horford at offensive end. Guy's shooting 57% from the field, you gotta make him go to guy.

  9. I wanted to bash LD a little for this defeat but truly there's not much he can't do with this roster other than risking his head coach career by betting on young guards who, while talented, commit lots of turnovers and doesn't shoot too well.

Everyone is talking about Smoove but what about JJ, a supposed leader and de facto playmaker. That was kind of game I'd expect him to stand up and put 25+ points even on low percentage as Rose did a couple days ago vs Dallas.

  10. I like what I've seen from Jeff in his limited minutes. He shoots better than last year although his shot looks bad it falls at decent rate, he's 83% from FT line. He can finish around the basket with floater, lay up (he blew some lay ups last season, not in this) or energetic dunk. I agree that his passing skills are suspicious and it's not even about court vision but his passes are simply deflected or stolen way too often. I believe it's a confidence thing more than anything else. He often gives up a ball but it's LD, not him, calling a particular play.

On defense he tends to be overaggressive and he needs to work on that but usually he stays with his man and blocks shots very well for PG. I'd expect more steals from the guy with his quickness, he tries to guard his man off the ball too closely at times.
