I like Sling a lot. I have been living comfortably using only Sling, the Bally app and basic network tv with digital antenna. Obviously still have a Netflix, and then share a password for Amazon/Hulu/Disney+ etc, so those are free.
I will be deleting Bally until basketball starts back.

I’m beginning to think none of us actually know how to fix the Hawks.

Bogi
Bogi, CC
Every stat possible shows that we are better with Bogi on the court and that our best basketball is played when CC plays his best. How often he can reach his best remains to be seen, but his production correlates to wins.

Anyone else wonder if we could send our guards down to the Skyhawks to receive some defensive incubation?

I wouldn't say it provides nothing but it's not like a sum gain against Murray. Maybe on defense because he's actually a SG/SF unlike Murray but Murray gives us a high end backup PG too. Without Murray, we need a backup PG better than Forrest
Kobe isn’t quite ready but Im sure he is here as a future PG option. At least defensively for sure.

Sports talk radio was discussing the idea that it might be best to trade BOTH of Trae and DJ and just start a rebuild centered around JJ moving forward.
I do not hate this. I also think it may make sense to keep DJ since his contract is such a value deal.
Either way, we need to revisit this entire situation. We are too guard heavy and dependent on making tough outside shots. We need to get rid of ball dominant players who aren’t effective driving the basketball or posting up.
Our best basketball came when our role players got the most minutes. We need more of that. Guys who can star in their role.

This draft is too deep in talented bigs WITH SIZE for us to walk away with more undersized guards, wing and forwards.

Gueye is going to be a really good player for us. I'd be interested to see if he gets a role for us in the postseason considering Jalen will be out and Vit is unavailable. Quin may opt for Wes Matthews experience instead, but there is something about MoGueye's game that is both effective and electrifying all at the same time.

Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton is the only player from the non-medalist 2023 FIBA World Cup team that was selected.
So we are just going to erase this from Anthony Edwards resume?

Coaching. You should know better than anyone what habits Quin and his staff can instill -- Murray's diet went from 23% of his attempts from 3 to 38% under Quin.
Facts. Murray was not a floor spacer either until he (a) was forced to play off ball, and (b) increased his shot diet under Quin.

I hated Culver. He was the golden boy here though, KB swore by Culver being a star. I wrote on RealGM that he was an obvious bust. Same for Johnny Davis. I never liked players who's NBA comp was 20 pounds bigger than they were. Hard to play bully ball as a 6'6 guard at 195 in the NBA. At that size, you gotta be a dynamic, generational athlete.
Size matters. The NBA is a game of measurements (inches) as well as a game of BBIQ and angles.
I can respect that. I pay very close attention to that as well which is why Steph was always a bad Trae comp. (2) different builds that allows one to play the game a different way.

Knowing us, yes, and then we will be trying to trade him in 2-3 years like we do everyone we extend.

Remember when everyone was gushing over Jarrett Culver.
Good times

I hate that we can’t deactivate players who are unavailable for extended absences via injury.
Like, we still have to carry Bey, OO, and JJ who wont play but have to cut Forrest or Vit who can play.
I wish there was a DL to place active players on and keep available bodies on active roster.

I truthfully don’t even care anymore what people say against him. He’s proven that he is a consistently productive player. He has the stigma against him regarding winning or being selfish, cool, no other way to shut it down than to win. Been the same story his whole career.
If we win, he wins, and the “we” is all I care about at the end of the day.

An overall better player than Smart that really fits what they have. Boston will continue to be a force in the East. Good for them.

I thinks Burns is going to out leverage Edey today and really bother him. I think Edey has another volume stats game potentially but he looks really bad in his matchup overall.

We have @Dallas, @Denver, Miami, Charlotte, @Minny, @Indy
Objectively speaking, we have the tougher final 6. The top 2 teams in the West, both trying to win and clinch #1. Dallas still jockeying for homecourt advantage. Then Miami and Indy still playing to win and avoid the play in.
If we pass Chicago, it will be because we truly earned it. It won’t be easy.

I hear ya.
Im just glad DJ’s at his natural position so we don’t have to watch PG’s kill us anymore. It’s like a guaranteed 50 piece anytime Trae’s out there. Amirite?!- 4
Hawks looking to trade
in Homecourt
Posted
Not sure where to put this since the insider thread really is the “how do we fix the Hawks” thread, but I am a purist.
So, regarding Trae and improving the team/another star, etc… Rowland had a good segment talking about the Suns and KD. Not a real rumor yet but a proposed idea similar to the Trae to the Lakers/Spurs ones floating around.
Of everything I have seen and heard, this is the most viable considering the status of both teams and their failed expectations vs limited ability to improve as well as their individual needs.
Brad Beal is the obvious odd man out in Pheonix however he has the hardest contract to move considering the dollar amount and no trade clause. Booker is younger and the face of the franchise. If the Suns want to make a move, KD may be their only option.
Why the Hawks make sense? Suns need a point guard. We have (2). Suns could use more depth across their roster and we have a couple of 20 mil contract players that are needed to match salaries and could be appetizing for them. Suns have minimal draft assets to improve their team. They are more desperate than we are.
What’s in it for the Hawks? Get an all-NBA level player to appease Trae. End story. But KD could play alongside JJ. We would likely send out Capela or Dre. Capela makes sense for Suns because he is an expiring contract that comes off the books.
A lineup of Trae, SG, KD, JJ, OO would be a juggernaut offensively. You could find a defensive only SG to start in that lineup. DJ+Capela and filler matches salary. They may ask for a prospect with upside. We wont give them JJ but they could have anyone else.
If we are wanting to both improve and “add talent to make Trae happy” this would be a perfect fit.
Even if they wanted Trae instead I might still do it because I think DJ Bogi KD JJ OO is a great lineup in the East.
Cons: Suns would ask for much more in return, duh. KD is old and only has (2) years on his deal meaning that is our window with him. Im okay with that because we can move on from a 50 mil contract about the same time that Trae will be up for a new deal. We could decide to reset everything at that point.
