  1. my only explanation would be that the official who made the call was standing out of bounds behind jones and couldnt really see the play/foul. that said, i agree with the poster who says that he got caught up in the moment. the Hawks were reeling and appeared to be losing all composure so he went with his gut instinct that told him Bibby prolly fouled the guy.

    i too am upset that even after the replays showed bibby didnt touch him, i have yet to hear any announcer on any station point it out. everybody see.s to riding jones's jock for his two 4-point plays.

    did anybody else notice how later in the game, bibby shot a 3 and was knocked down by jones way after without a foul called. i agree that there were some inconsistancies by the refs

    fortunately our hawks played like men and handled their business. The league really wanted the heat to win that one it seems

  2. Im not homo-phobic or anything, but did any one else sense the rainbow when he was getting interviewed before halftime?

    Did anybody notice the neck-jerking and attitude and high-pitch lisp he was speaking with.

    He already looked the part in my eyes, but he definately just got put down on the SUS list.

    Dont be surprised to read a book by him one day about being gay and a pro-athlete.

  3. Down 2-1 on the road

    Marvin Williams out again

    Two starters benched early because of foul trouble

    Refs blowing whistles left and right

    Josh Smith with terrible shot selections

    TWO 4-point plays AGAINST us ( the bibby one was absolute B.S of a call)

    Gave up a 20-point lead

    Yet we still found a way to win.......on the road......in the playoffs......against D-Wade

    Relish and enjoy it. this game was very ugly, but we just swung the series back in our favor

    GO HAWKS!

  4. I was looking the playoff brackets on NBA.com and they had Us, Cleveland, Miami and Detroit and on one side of the bracket, and BOS, ORL, CHI, PHI on the other side. So is it locked in stone that even if the Cavs win their series and we win ours, that we will play against each other in the 2nd round, even if Boston or Orlando dont win their series? or is it like in college where the highest remaining seed always plays the lowest remaining seed regardless of bracket?

    Ex:

    Round 1

    Cavs wins series

    Hawks win

    Chicago wins

    Orlando wins

    Round2

    IF it is by bracket:

    1. Cavs vs 4. Hawks

    3. Orlando vs 7. Bulls

    OR

    if it is by seed it would be:

    1.Cavs vs. 7.Bulls

    3.Orlando vs 4. Hawks

    anybody know for sure?

  5. If we dont go pg at 19, i would love to pick up Toney DOuglas in the 2nd. dude can score at will. he has been compared to a posiible mo williams, tj ford or tinsley. he is also a very good defemder which is something we need.

    he woudnt be our primary distributor but we all know thats not what woodson wants from his pg anyways.

    he'd basically be a younger, quicker, and10x's better defending Bibby imo.

  6. Sheed is a far better shooter than Smith. Smith has taken twice as many 3s as Sheed did during his first 5 seasons. Sheed's big problem for years has been hanging out at the 3 pt line instead of being in the post where he belongs and is much more successful.

    Sheed's career average of 6.9 rebounds per game is similar to Smith's 7.3 rebounds per game this year. Hard to get rebounds at the 3 pt line.

    Sheed is also a 6'11 PF/C. Smoove is a 6'9 PF/SF. So the fact that he has taken more 3's than him but still averages more rebounds only makes Smoove look that much better.

    People need to stop making Smith out as if he is a true PF. Thats never been the case. Even at 6'9 he is UNDERSIZED for the position yet his athleticism helps him. He is not a banger, never has been. We are trying to turn a HS wing player into an NBA PF and its worked so far. Thing is, he still has some wing skills. His jumpers isnt gorgeous, he does brick sometimes, but when they fall, its all the much sweeter.

    The only thing he needs to improve on is making smarter decisions in his OVERALL game, not just shooting 3's. That only comes with good ole experience. TRIAL and ERROR.

    By the way everyone...... we won the last 2 games, were 11 games over .500. Be happy for cryin out loud

  7. Like some have already pointed out, i think that the difference is that when one of the the starting 5 is out, it forces woody to use our bench more. Whenever Solo and Acie get playing time, they bring needed dimensions to the game, particularly hustle and more commitment to defense.

    Did anyone besides me notice how when Acie was in the game, he ALWAYS fought through the screen to stayed manned up on CP3, whereas when bibby/flip/joe were gaurding him, they did the same switch routine which ended in mismatches. fortunately tonite the mismatches did not hurt us much, except for when bibby was on rasual butler early in the game.

    I dont know if it was by design but Acie really gaurded CP3 well and I loved that he never gave up on getting back in front of him man to man

  8. Joe Johnson: All star, one of the best all around skillsets in the league

    Mike Bibby: Very talented shooter, floor leader, vet, FEARLESS

    Marvin Williams: San his passing, is a great all around player with his pure shot rivaling JJ's

    Josh Smith: This time last year, he was on his way to being a young superstar with freakish exciting athleticism

    Al Horford: Great rebounder with a good jumper for a player his size, underrated passer from the post, WINNER

    Flip Murray: Fearless and agressive scorer, good smarts for the game, plays fast

    Mo Evans: Money from the corners, plays hard on both ends even if his shot isnt falling

    ZaZa Pachulia: May look clumsey but always finds away to chip in the game, great rebounder, wont back down from anyone

    Solomon Jones: Athlete who is still improvong, plays aggressive defense, plays hard

    Acie Law: Great skillset on the wrong team

    Mario West: Can instantly change the tempo of the game on both ends, inspires teamates, Always gives 100%

    We have a talented team, esp. within the starting 5 and 6th man Murray. The thing is everyone will never be on at the same time, but every night at least 2 players will burn you giving us a chance to win. If we have a 3rd player making an impact we almost always win. I think the lack of consistency is a result of not knowing who will be the main guy next to Joe or Bibby each night. We know it could be any two other players but we dont ever know which one, and neither do the players. If they can play hard for 48 mins tho they can beat anyone and thats the prolem with our team... playing hard for 48 mins. Sometimes they become too passive on Offense or Defense because they either knowingly or sub-consciously defer to the OTHER guy too much not knowing who the supporting playmakers will be. 5 very talented players cant all stand out at the same time. Weve seen from Horf, Marv and Smith (last year) that they all can be great one day, but Marv and Horf tend to defer despite have better overall games than Smith, who (to our dismay) seems to think he is better than he is.

    I think their roles should be:

    Joe: Distribute ball during game, only take available shots, make plays happen for other players, take over in crunch time

    Bibby: Stay behind arc, share ballhandling with Joe, shoot every open three, drive and kick when lane is available

    Williams: Move more without the ball, spot up and call for ball for open J's, drive at the end of the clock to go to FT

    Smith: Stay in post, set some screens, rebound, take over in the fast break

    Horford: run the offense through Horford, he will make the right pass out of the post or take good shot if its there

    Murray: Run, drive, get to the rim, make defense collapse, find teamates more, stay aggresive taking open shots

    Evans: Live in the corner, its home, run the baseline from corner to corner til you are open

    Zaza: Clean up the glass, shoot open post shots

  9. We dreaded this road trip all season long, but now its finally behind us. As we look ahead we still have tough games remaining but we have alot of winnable ones as well.

    with the 7 game homestand on the horizon after the next few, be prepared for wins to come in bunches. before you know it, we will have forgotten this little trip.

    Go Hawks!!!!

  10. I really hated when he stopped getting PT last season, it seams like everytime he is on the court he brings energy that can rub off on whoever is on the court. He chases loose balls nobody wants to chase, he runs the floor hard on both ends, he contest every shot he can, even if it isnt his man shooting. Why doesnt Woody relize that when we need a lift (which is far too often) West is up to the challenge.

    Im listening o the Nuggets feed and they are raving about his play. The little things he brings to the game really make a noticable difference from all perspectives.

  11. @ Lakers-L

    @Sacramento-W

    @Portland-L (will surprise us with their balanced scoring attack)

    @Utah-L (great home team)

    @Denver-L (they get payback at home)

    Miami-W

    Cleveland-L (lebrons hits a game winner in last seconds)

    @Washington-W

    @Knicks-W

    @Charlotte-W

    Detroit-W

    New Orleans-W (we won on road, gotta think we can do it at home)

    Utah-W

    Indiana-W

    Portland-W (we get payback)

    Sacramento-W

    Dallas-W (will be a tough game, matchups will give us fits)

    @Cleveland-L

    Minnesota-W

    San Antonio-L (very winnable but their guards kill us w/ dribble penatration)

    Boston-W (gotta believe we can get atleast one against them)

    Lakers-L (close early, but kobe puts out of reach late)

    @Philly-W

    @Boston-L

    Orlando-L (they win last match against us but we get payback in playoffs)

    @Toronto-W

    @Milwaukee-W (will be out of contention after all their injuries)

    Indiana-W

    Miami-W (L if we already secured seed and dont play as hard)

    @Memphis-W (reserves play mostly but Grizz suck so bad anyway)

    Overall: 20-10, I think we get 50 wins as the team comes out with a new attitude after the break. we will struggle with the early west coast trip but will reel off a 10 game win streak against weak teams on road followed by 7 game homestand. wins later on may change though depending on if we have any competition for the 4th seed. we could possibly hand in the last few games against some scrappy teams. Overall i think our team will show us they have a lot of fight in them that they havent been showing since before the new year.

    season will break down as:

    20-10 great start/ came out with purpose

    11-11 average middle/ struggle to keep up intensity night in and night out

    20-10 great final push/ head into playoffs hot

    total: 51-31 solid #4 seed
