  1. I would like to have him cheap..but this season you probably cant hope for more than 15 min per game out of him...always felt bad for him, seemed to be a good kid and willing to work...he is 25 and has plenty of years to try to get back in the league.
  2. I just dont get why so many people here hate on Marvin...he contributes, his game has shown growth both on the defensive side of the ball and developing his 3 point shot...he is our most consistent volume free throw shooter and shoots a good percentage on them...id love to see him develop into a teyshawn prince type player...someone to defend the best swing man of the opposition and contribute offensively in spots...not everyone needs to be a 20pt scorer...Crawford's value is that he can allow Joe to play less min and a scoring spark off the bench...hopefully less min will result in Joe being less beat up and starting to attack the rim a bit more...he has far to few free throw attempts and we all no he can get to the rim...love to see him doing more of that than heaving jumpers.
  3. I think it really depends on what he wants to resign...personally I'm not sure he really is a marque guy...he does a nice job but hes not playing up to his potential IMO...I'd like to see him attack the rim, get more free throw attempts and not disappear in the 4'th quarter of playoff games...the last two years Smith, flawed though he may be, has been the man stepping up and winning playoff games...if he is asking for a reasonable deal for the right number of years resign him but I'm hoping one of our other young players develops into the focal point of the team and Joe can be our #2 player.
  4. I have to agree that Crawford offers us more than flip because i think we will be able to pull Joe off the court and keep him much fresher than last year...we would never pull Joe off unless he was so gassed he was useless....hopefully having Crawford on the bench will help Joe play less MPG and not be so broken down that he cant drive to the basket...if Crawford allows Joe to get to the rim more by keeping him fresh and brings Joe's FTA per game up on par with other all stars its an upgrade right there...also he gives us an undeniable guy off the bench to run the offense through...hopefully he recognize if hes out there with the starters he doesnt have to be a volume shooter...he has always been the 1 or 2 option on bad teams so as smart as he seems he should recognize the change in those roles.
  5. They passed on anthony because they didnt want to upset the team they had there by bringing in a player that messed with what they had...they never had any intention of playing him but didnt get any offers for the pick that interested them...i would be stunned to hear that any pistons fan thought prince was overpaid he has been the glue that has held that team together...hes one of the top 4 or 5 perimeter defenders in the NBA and doesnt turn the ball over and scores high percentage baskets...on the topic of marvin i think he is absolutely worth 8 million per as a player who is constantly improving and is our most coachable player...like prince he takes care of the ball...he gets to the line and shoots a good percentage, has added an outside jumper and is still very young...we drafted him because of the player he could become so why when he is improving every year would we let him go and have someone else profit from the time we have spent developing him?? i dont know if he is every going to be an all star but if he continues to improve he can be a lock down starter for years to come.
  6. I think Marvin is coming along nicely...like to see some killer instinct from him but the truth is that we most likely will have to pay that amount of money for a less than proven player thats his age anyway...thats what you get at that price point and i would rather have a young guy that we have brought up ourselves and already has a chemistry and role on the team...additionally he is a very coachable kid and hasnt gotten into any off the court trouble...why not reward him??
  7. I think that the big think as chilz pointed out is that none of those big name FA are coming to atlanta...we are a young team on the rise but with our ownership no big name in their prime is going to come here and no vet is going to come here when there are opportunities with teams that are much closer...if we get to the finals in the east then one of those vets might consider coming here and taking a run at things but right now we have more needs than one guy in the twilight of his career can offer.
  8. I'm fine with moving smith provided it either allows us to get hortford playing the 4 where I think he would flourish or provides us with a starting PG because unless Bibby gives us a discount hes going to be way overpaid next season...let someone else overpay him...my fear is that we have topped out with the talent we have and the coach we have...some change has to be made and our areas of need are at the 1 and 5...if we have to move Smith or Johnson to address that need we have got other talent at their positions to ease the blow.
