  1. Worst come to worst you could sign Howard for a minimum deal then offer Mo Evans and Zaza to cleveland and sign Shaq for the sum of their contracts .That way the effect on the cap is minimal and we don't lose Marvin (Seems management hasn't given up on him yet). Howard would at least give you what Evans did as a back up and if motivated may even out play Marvin and put a fire in him to b e more aggressive.I like Zaza but honestly he is not better then Shaq if healthy even old Shaq. Then sign a young junk center of the pile who can rebound and defend like maybe Kwame for injury insurance and we will be better up front.
  2. I like Marvin but he has not lived up to where he is drafted. That usually causes a guy to get bashed. Even though i wouldn't do it ,Comes with the territory. If shelden was still here there would be a thread bashing him every five minutes. Untill Marvin lives up to the expectations(hopefully this year he will become James Worthy ) he will be bashed. But no this is not a Bash marvin thread.
  3. They really are about the same with Gortat having better hops and hence better shot blocking skills. Zaza is not a bad defender he just cant jump so guys who can (like Dwight ) eat his lunch. Both rebound adequately but neither is really a post presence on offense consistently. If we could get Gortat it would be an upgrade but only slightly. Gortat has the edge in athleticism but it would only be helpful if we could get him for ZAza and Maybe a second round cause it isn't really that much of a difference.
  4. Pape= project give him time .Jeff making nice passes jordan Greenlight to shoot getting comfortable. Aminu is not bad but still pretty raw.
  5. Didn't vote cause not sure if what I want(paul) is even possible. Biedrins seems most likely followed by shaq if Sheed Unretires.
  6. Yes we are over the cap however our reputation as a city that does not support it's basketball team is partly responsible. Contrary to national opinion Atlanta fans are inclined to route for their teams( if they are real contenders for something big ). Since Blank took over the falcons they have been selling out the dome. When the braves started the run of division titles this city went crazy for them. It wasn't untill it became clear that 1 world series win was as good as it would get that attendance started to slide. Atlanta fans want to be entertained we want excitement and not just that, team we know can win. The reason the hawks haven't gotten the best these fans have to offer is because fans are aware if a team is legit .hen a team that can bring a title is here they get support. The problem is we havent had owners with a sense of what it takes to win. Maybe that is changing. If when it does the true fanaticism of Atlanta Fans will show. There are the die hard fans like most people on this board(myself included). But most are band wagon jumpers waiting for a good ride to come along. If ASG is comitted to winning and put together a team worth rooting for this city will root like theres no tomorrow. Good owners bring good players that can contend and fans will follow that. Players don't come cause of fans they come to get paid and to win. Sorry kinda turned into a rant
  7. He is hood to death but not really a thug. Just a ghetto millionare. Gotta love his honesty though
  8. That was the worst postgame interview i've ever seen anywhere in my life. It was as if he just got lit in the locker room before he came out. He just kept getting crazier and crazier. I respect that he is man enough to know he needs a psychiatrist though. But it makes you wonder how can someone that nuts be able to perform at such a high level. I mean there have been may athletes who lack brains but how many that are that insane.
  9. I cheated. OOOOOOOhhhh did not know he was that old 31.
  10. On the subject of new york I fully expect some one will follow the dollars to new york .However i Don't believe it will be quite as big a rush to the knicks as the have been hoping for. They suck, They've sucked for a while and they will probably suck a bit longer. The nets though could really be a destination they have a young Pg who has been sucessfull as a player and a talented big man as well as a new coach with a winning record. While D'antoni is a good coach he has never really been a defensive coach and the knicks need a lot more than any of the teams out there with cap space.
  11. If things are as dire as they seem as far as resigning Joe. I would like to think a good Gm would have some creative ways to replace him we have assets that we can use to strengthen our team if i'm not mistaken the bucks were potential suitors for Childress last year I see no reason he wouldn't still be even if only as depth. If Salmons wants to leave (has not been confirmed ) and joe doesn't want to stay then you find a shrewd solution that at least appears mutually benificial to the player and a better alternative to the team than losing the player outright. Salmons is a comparable scorer to Joe if not as varied in overall talent. If the free agent market turns out to be as crowded as it appears it will be he could stay put or we could put together the right package to lure him away.
  12. Not sure what he would cost but it seems that a reasonable replacement would be Jon Salmons if he opts out as expected. Don't know what he makes but he nearly matched Joe point for point every time we played the bucks . Plus maybe he would be more likely to buy into LD'S system . He has been bounced around a bit so his value may not be nearly what he thinks it is. Maybe he could be had if we were some how able to clear a bit of space (Sign and trade chill for trade exception). If he isn't in demand with so many other big names on the market he ends up as an afterthought and we get him on the cheap. We get a young guy who could be our number one option along with Crawford and he finally finds a permanent home win win .Plus maybe we can do it with out further damage to future cap space.
  13. Low shooting% not good but the scariest thing is how bad we are being beaten by post scorers like Howard and Aldridge. Not sure who was on them but other teams will take advantage if we aren't running got to negate that in the regular season.
