You do realize that new Orleans won the lottery with a better record than us right?

They won it because it was the leagues way of rewarding them for playing nice and sending Davis to the Lakers.  Lottery has been tainted for since forever.  League as a whole is dirty as heck.

I just don't understand how all the breaks seem to always end in the Lakers favor when we struggle just to get one break in a decades time. It is unreal how their fortunes is always so damn perfect.

The days leading up to the trade the Lakers were one of the top three or four teams who had best odds to win the title.  There is no chance Vegas didn’t know this was coming.

    Haha burn.

You can also argue it the other way too like I have a few times. Very few teams are able to keep trending as steady, good teams. With most sports, it goes in cycles. Periods of good, then a downslide, then an upturn, period of good, then another slide.

Wasn’t trying to burn anyone.  I didn’t want to read through this entire thread, but from reading a bit of it, it looks as if you aren’t on the tank wagon?  You are right.  More often than not teams go up and down just as the seasons turn.  I think 85% of most sports league are cyclical and a small handful are perennial contenders.

Like I have said previously.  Regression to the mean happens over time.  Philly regressed to the mean because at some point, you are going to trend towards average.  That's what Philly is right now.  An average basketball team, so what did all that tanking get them?

A better outlook than 75% of the conference?

Young needs to stop the 40 foot shots. He is getting so much attention that it is hard to judge him fairly because he has pressure to try and be the man all the time. Getting him another guy in the draft coming up should help.

He has pressure on him that result in him taking terrible shots?  That’s a pretty big excuse for him shooting poorly from deep.

Although early Denver and Boston are showing that attention to detail on the defensive end can still hold opponents under 100.  GS, Memphis, and Indiana in the next tier with respectable numbers.  Luke Walton “didn’t save his money” and called out the ridiculousness of today’s foul officiating and had a great point.  I have to question my fandom of the NBA on every three point flop call.

I think most basketball fans would agree the game ridiculous right now.  Most people who like basketball (NBA) are probably just fans of offense and points.  Big difference between basketball fans and NBA fans.

Damn, JJJ only shooting 22% on 3s. That’s putrid. Young shooting 39.3% from deep, btw. BOOM! ?

One is a near 7 footer and the other is 105 LB midget who actually plays a position on the floor that requires him to shoot threes.  It’s a waste to compare three point shooting numbers.

Agreed on this. He’s got some drives that are strong and some playground moves that are hard to stop. He’s a pitbull. Anyone know about his desire and willingness to put in the work?

He worked hard last off season before his Sophomore campaign.  Honing his dribble which was clear during his last college season and really working on his shot especially from three.  I never really saw a lot of things offensively that he did at MSU that really made me think he had an arsenal of offensive skills.  There were glimpses at times, but or less he got by on athletic ability.  I think now as a pro he will need to figure out something what he can rely on to get buckets though.  That will come eventually, by trying to find it at this level is going to take time.

  9. JJJ had good numbers for Memphis. He played 25 minutes in a blowout loss.  Saw him make a couple nice moves and attack the basket.  Miles Bridges wasn’t involved for Charlotte at all.  Offensively he isn’t skilled, but I think what will hopefully get him some consistent play is defense.  Will need to figure out how to defend the different players he might see on a given night.

Ayton was great and Luca was pretty solid too.  Sexton wasn’t anything special.  Bagley didn’t do anything to exciting.

Spud is a good guy now?

They got a name for people like you "recidivism"..  Repeat Offender!

I may not be a longtime veteran of these parts, but Spud has always been a good guy in my opinion.  I would put him, @kg01 and @JayBirdHawk on my Mount Squakmore.
