these are the kind of scenarios the cavs are facing once everyone gets paid and contracts are finalized. NO ONE is going to stop dan gilbert from spending that kind of money if he is willing, especially since luxury tax money gets redistributed around the league.
-
Please tell me this is a joke? So the league is just gonna let some BS trade like this happen just like they did with Pau Gasoline becoming a Laker and getting 2 championships huh..this is crap. Adam Silver, you are a puppet of David Stern...ridiculous
its not like they are getting these guys for free, the owner is paying the ultimate price of a 100 mil+ luxury tax, which few owners in the league would do.
edit: actually I dont think any other owner besides the nets owner would even entertain the idea of taking on that much salary.

LMA please, he is a scorer that you can basically give the ball to and guarantee to give you 20 a night. You need that kind of scorer if you want to do well in the latter rounds of the playoffs.
Paul is quicker than most 4's in today's game, so he uses that to his advantage to blow by them to score in the paint. He also has better ball handling skills, and he's also the better passer. Add to the fact that just like Aldridge, He can stretch the floor and even hit 3 point shots. Aldridge is obviously the better scorer, but Millsap is more versatile than him on offense.
millsap is more versatile scorer but he is pretty mediocre at every facet of scoring.

Interesting...
Obviously Horford will get reupped with a huge contract next offseason. But we'll have a lot of flexibility once again in 2 years.
well to be honest just about everyone will have flexibility and cap space in the next couple of years when the cap sky rockets.

I swear yall are f***ing nuts.. look at the these highlights.. look at the new found craftiness..
take away the highlights and you get this

still not happy about the THJ trade, but having legit size and depth at C when it was basically ignored/ bandaged with vet mins during the whole ASG tenure is a welcomed change.
-
It occurs to me to throw this out there... the trade isn't technically done... other teams still in the mix for Aldridge... so, if SA isn't successful, can't they just pull back and say "Sorry, but we're backing out.".... ?
nothing will happen, they could of waited until after aldridge committed to them b4 trading away spiltter. They are the ones that chose to gamble. If they reneged, they would look extremely incompetent and hurt their credibility around the league.

its going to feel so weird seeing a 7 footer let alone a 7 ft 3er, in a hawks uniform.
-
PG: Jeff Teague / Dennis Schröder / Shelvin Mack
SG: Monta Ellis / Tim Hardaway Jr. / Kent Bazemore
SF: Kyle Korver / Thabo Sefolosha
PF: Paul Millsap / Mike Scott or Mike Muscalla
C: Al Horford / Tiago Splitter / Walter Tavares
LOL, we are going to make alot of role players rich if thats going to be our line up for the year.
-
bud's love fest with monta ellis is extremely annoying. He was probably the 1 that was lobbying for him when the spurs were "supposedly" interested in him a few years ago.

Ummm. Last I checked Gay was a Grizz

so DMC took 15mil to play PF?

if we pay millsap 20 mil per we will have an expensive frontcourt with no starting wing player. Trading for spiltter threw a wrench into everything.
-
not drafting a Wing perimeter defender and trading for tim hardaway looks even worst now and I didnt think that was even possible!

1 hour ago - via Miami Herald
Along the way to free agency, Wade dropped some big hints that he isn’t happy with the Heat, which would have preferred for Wade to opt into his contract. He was set to make $16.1 million for next season. Wade now will seek a multiple-year deal with the Heat while also potentially exploring his options elsewhere. Two suitors might be the Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks.
Free Agency, Dwyane Wade, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat,Milwaukee Bucks
I understand to a point why Wade is upset seeing the mega deal that Bosh got.
But they all decided to take less money to win a ring. They got not one but 2 rings now they are complaining about the money they gave up.
That was the deal money for Rings.
but he also opted out and gave up money last offseason so the heat could get someone like luol deng.

I will say, I didn't mind us playing Paul on Lebron at all. I just don't think that means he needs to be chasing around a guy like Korver or Batum or Hayward, etc.
I agree, asking a 30 year old millsap to chase shooting SFs around screens and having him run shooters off the 3 point line full time seems like a bad idea considering that he has never done that before in his career and hes on the wrong side of 30.
its different when you are asking him to play LBJ who was terrible from the perimeter in the playoffs and was isoing/posting up all game. Even boris diaw was able to get away with guarding him in the finals.
-
Millsap main strengths is being a highly versatile PF who can blow by slow, stiff PFs, take his big man assignment out to the 3 point line, and score around the basket.
AT SF you take away his dribble game, he will have less opportunities to get off his jumpshot, he will have less room to operate around the basket, and he is not providing that extra spacing to our offense.
The reason why millsap is so valuable is because he brings that unique skillset to the PF position. At SF you arent getting that All star skill set at the big man position, you are getting a mediocre SF who isnt going to be worth the 15 mill+ that he is going to be paid.
Asking millsap to be SF is similiar to asking a player like draymond green to be a SF. He probably can be decent at SF but arent going to get that full DPOY runner up value that you are going to get from him when you play him at PF/C.

THJ probably could of been had for some 2nds, everyone was surprised they even got a 1st for him.Tweet Added - Refresh Page to see it live!

LOL great asset management

We spent the 19th pick on a guy that does not improve the roster in the slightest.
Thats honestly the simplest analysis I can give.
he doesnt provide ANY new skill set to this roster and he will never be a heavy min player on a winning team because he shown has no ability to defend anyone at a NBA level and his offense doesnt offset that since hes a inefficient volume scorer.
-
Mack will be gone.....Korver is 34 and currently in a walking boot, Thabo missed the playoffs all together. So what you're saying is we dont need a young SG that can score and be groomed by the coach of the year.....
Wake up Hawks FAN!
we need a multi dimensional SG who can defend, create his own shot, and play-make so some of the playmaking responsibilities isnt all on teague. If he cant do that at the very least he needs to be a 3 and D guy since this roster lacks two way players.
THJ does none of that.
-
I was so excited when Oubre and Portis were on the board for us. Thrilled when we took Oubre then disappointed when we traded him but still hopeful and then this? We could have had him and Glenn Rice Jr for peanuts a couple years back and now we use a 1st on a guy the Knicks likely had no plans for. Man I'm sick over this one and nothing we do in FA will change the fact that we pissed away ANOTHER 1st round pick. Any chance we can trade Schröder for FA Monta Ellis now? Gotta make sure we don't have any young players with potential on the roster. {/sarcasm}
bud is slowly becoming doc the gm east smh
-
Are u nuts?! Tim Jr is a legit 6'6 can drive and shoot and is only 24 years old..He is ready to start for Korver right now! Good job coach Bud!
NO way he is a starting SG. He is AWFUL defensively arguably the worst at his position, he rarely passes the ball, and hes is a streaky shooter.
Hes nothing much than a gunner off the bench.
-
Lmao really??? THJ is a 1 dimensional chucker. hes an AWFUL defender, doesnt rebound, and doesnt move the ball at all.

blame flip sanders for bailing brooklyn out by giving them thaddeus young (who he gave up a miami 1st rounder for b4 the season started) for KG on his last legs because he wanted a BS reunion which lasted about 5 games.
