  1. Love the post game quote by Sap. Here's the tweet link

    https://twitter.com/cvivlamoreajc/status/557315032132767745

@CVivlamoreAJC: Paul Millsap: It’s a little bigger than 27 out of 29. It’s a culture we are trying to build. It’s something about who we want to become.”

To get grown men who are multi-millionaires in a culture of celebrity and narcissism to buy into TEAM and SACRIFICE and WORK ETHIC...now that is a modern-day miracle.

I wish every business, family, church, team, and even government in America could manifest this virtue, nobility, and integrity. We would all win!!!!

Go Hawks! Shining the light of hope and being the example for ALL of us!!!!!

Never been prouder of a team!

  2. Leonard can improve his 3pt shooting and he probably already does everything else better than DMC. That said, it seems like he has some injury concerns and he's obviously going to command a much larger contract. He's also devoid of emotion and it kind of weirds me out. I still would definitely love to have him on our team, but that bridge is a long way off. I think the Spurs do everything in their power to keep him around anyway, which should be enough (he said with no knowledge of their salary cap situation). Many people already view him as the most important player on the team and Duncan will most likely get bored of the NBA one day.

Leonard is also 5 years younger. That is a BIG difference to me. Love the JYD and what he brings, however.

    Go Hawks!!!!

  3. Loved Steve Smith on NBA tv calling out Isiah Thomas. "He said I told you Zeke . You need to call and apologize. " I loved it.

Missed that. I get pretty disgusted with the mush heads on a lot of the shows. He was a stud guard in his playing days, but shut up, Zeke!!!

  4. I remember when listening to other team's broadcast meant listening to other broadcasters be homers for their team. Now, there's just an acknowledgement by those homers that THE HAWKS ARE JUST THAT FREAKING GOOD!!!! They sit there and humbly chatter about how great we are and how their team doesn't match up.

For a longtime fan, this is the season of redemption!!

    i agree!

I loved the Toronto commentators talk about the Hawks' "surgical precision"..."hard nosed playing" ..."they never take a possession off"...

Post game they said the Hawks are the model of a new NBA game. Taking the best from colleges and the best from the NBA.

    I am stunned!!!

Never in my lifetime did I imagine this. My wife is sick of me talking about it. I love it!

    Go Hawks!!!!

  5. lol awesome read. Loved the Korver vids as well.

I'm new here, long time Hawks fan and browser. Figured I'd say what's up. I'm 23. I try and watch around 80% of the Hawks games every season when I can. Ready for tonights against Philly

Welcome!!! The more the merrier. We are experiencing a season that we have all longed and yearned for! I don't want to wake up. Not now...not in the playoffs!!!

    Go Hawks!!!!!

  6. I don't understand how creating your own shot even remotely comes into the discussion of "best pure shooter". By the very definition of what the term is it means who can simply shoot the best. Not who can shoot better with a hand in their face or not. Korver is the best shooter in the NBA.

I agree totally and this is part of my point. But until randawg91 sets the definition to shooting (pure and simple), the debate will never end IMO. Either way it doesn't really matter. I am glad we have Korver. He is a huge asset to this team and system.

  7. randawg91,

Until you and your friend agree on a "pure shooter" definition, then you will be going around and around on the debate. If you define "pure shooter" as someone "creating his own shot" and then making them at a higher rate, then Korver will never win the debate. Historically we would not call that part of being a pure shooter. If you use the historic idea of "who would you want to take the shot (regardless of how the shooter got open)" then I would want Korver taking any shot other than in the paint.

Dribbling and crossing over and shooting is a skill for sure, but people should not act like running around like a maniac through 2-3 screens and then catching and shooting in less than a second and making it isn't. What Korver has done is historic!!!! I think Steve Kerr might have been the last person to put up the 50/50/90% in the NBA. If I am not mistaken, Kerr played much less and shot significantly fewer shots than Korver. Korver is doing this on a larger number of shots which makes it even more impressive and less "flukish" IMHO.

    Hope that approach can help.

    Go Hawks!!!!

  8. Yea, I don't think that's gonna happen on this team. If he was in Cleveland taking the amount of shots Kyrie Irving is putting up, then he would have a shot.

Interesting stat of the day: of all the players in the top 30 in scoring, no one takes less shots than Jeff Teague (12.4 a game).

and also no one plays less minutes a game

  9. I've noticed something... I'm been visiting a lot of other fan forums the last few weeks and many fans of other teams are dreading it when their team has to play the Hawks right now.

Same here. I have been visiting their game threads and enjoying the torture the Hawks have been inflicting on the other teams. Turn about is good stuff;)

    Go Hawks!!!!

    Just don't move!

  10. Like @curtmcgirt said, the NBA isn't in the business of exiting a top 8 market to go into a top 15 market (at best).

Add to that all the fees associated with moving the franchise (detailed in prior pages of this thread it'd cost upwards of $200 mil in addition to the cost of the franchise) and it becomes even less feasible to move.

Add to that the fact that a significant partner (Turner/TNT) is based here and the move appears even less likely.

Add to that the fact that the league can't force a sale. The sale will be orchestrated by existing ownership a portion of which (love him or hate him, mostly hate him) has a strong interest in keeping the team here and the move appears even less likely.

All in all, the report that the Seattle bid is coming isn't "news". They want a team so any chance they get to put a bid together they'll do it. Simmons is just ... being Simmons here.

(Disclaimer: This is all basically summarized in this thread. I'm not 'being a Simmons' and reporting all this stuff as if I knew it all.)

Thanks to both you and curtmcgirt for your answers. That eases my blood pressure a bit;)

  11. As for the Hawks, it's obvious that they won't leave, but I hope we get owners who realize how big a deal Ferry, Koonin, and Bud are right now and leave everything be. And don't get swayed to just change things for the sake of change.

Why is it obvious that the Hawks won't leave?

I am completely in agreement on your last two sentences above...Don't mess with the leadership of the team!!! It's the best team the Hawks have assembled in my lifetime!
