  1. Why is the AJC posting a tweet promoting the Cavs and Lebron when we just blew them out......?

Forget ESPN, It's extremely disappointing that we can't even get respect from our home newspaper.

Here is the descrip of the vid

"The Cleveland Cavaliers took on the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, and during the game, LeBron James decided to do some work with the ball in his hands. Watch LeBron drop Sefolosha to the floor wit"

  2. Yeah this sucked I totally jinxed it. I of course did not watch the game but figuring we lost when we were down in the final minute and then seeing Korver hit the 3 with 3 seconds left I screamed holy crap the streak is going to continue. And then Harris happened. I haven't seen the shot so I hope it was some crazy improbable shot like Lance's was earlier in the year and not a lack of good D.

I shouldn't have said shit until the game was over. Sorry guys.

The moment we lost I screamed "DAMNIT DOLFAN!!!!!!!"  I knew you had something to do with it. russian_roulette.gif

  3. Basketball has 2 sides to it. He's excelling at the area we brought him in to excel at. If he a lot more bothered if his defense sucked and his offense was good. His shot will come around but we can live without it. We desperately need his D.

I agree he's huge on defense, but it's almost to the point where he is a liability on offense.  He misses layups, airballs 3s, and fumbles every time he puts the ball on the floor.  He does make some nice passes, but other than that he has been struggling too much to ignore.

    I expected the suffocating defense, I didnt expect a 12% 3p%

  4. The only thing I can think of is Thabo's deal and that's peanuts compared to other really bad deals. We don't have any truly bad deals.

Although Thabo has been pretty bad on offense (to say the least), he has made some huge plays on defense.  It's easy to see how much he flusters the guy he's guarding.

I definitely agree he's probably the most disappointing player on our squad though.

  5. Well that's gotta upset a couple people around here...

When the shots stop falling, Paul Millsap starts grinding.  That's what I love about him.

Horford just isn't there yet.  I think the most obvious difference tonight is that Paul shot 10 free throws while Horford shot none.  Rather than try and force the issue in the paint like Millsap, Horford just keeps shooting that jumper hoping it will fall.

Every great team needs a Millsap type for when the game slows down.

We have a lot of guys on here who think they understand the Hawks personnel better than our potential coach of the year.  If Pero didn't contribute on a nightly basis, why would Bud put him on the floor?

Also, why are there advanced stats and film analysis that clearly show how valuable Pero is to this team that plenty seem to ignore?

  7. I feel like  JJ would be a tremendous match for our team right now at the 3.  He is fairly good at catch-and-shoot, can work smaller players in the post, and plays decent defense.  We also don't really have a closer right now.  I would rather see ISO Joe on a final possession than some of the terrible plays that coach Bud has been drawing up.

The big question is whether he would buy into the offense.

    BUUUUUT not for 23 million!

  8. I didn't say trade Millsap. I said there isn't a center available for a Millsap trade to take place hence will keep him undoubtedly.

Millsap is your perfect fit. Horford is my perfect fit. Sap doesn't play defense anywhere near as good as Horford in my opinion. Horford is a more efficient offensive player. Horf is worth the max and Sap isn't worth more than 10-13 mil on the open market. Just reality.

So this is a one star thread for Sap supporters. Might as well be a five star thread for Hawks supporters.

In your opinion is right.  Millsap's defense this year has been very solid to say the least..

Trillsap leads the league in steals, is ranked 11th in the league in defensive rating (right behind tony allen), 12th in the league in DWS, and 11th in the league in defensive +/-.

While Horford's raw offensive numbers look good, Paul is the guy who scores when the defense tightens the thumb screws and shots stop falling.  The team will put the ball in Millsaps hands in the post, the high block, or the baseline and let him go to work.  Until the game against Pacers, Horford looked timid in the post both on offense and defense.

I hope Horford continues to improve, but for now, a very strong case can be made that Paul is the best player on our team, especially when you account for durability.  Nobody could make that argument for Horford.

  9. What is CMB's fascination with Pero? The guy is okay...sometimes, but I feel like there are some games where he isn't bringing that much to the table & CMB should be exploring his bench a little more.

    Chris Vivlamore, AJC

Alex, you echo the sentiments of a lot of people. I can just tell you that CMB loves the stretch 5 play that Pero brings. He brings the opposing center away from the basket. The threat of the 3-pointer (even though he hasn't shot it well starting the last year's playoffs) is a weapon. I also understand Antić may be dealing with an injury - perhaps to his ankle or leg. That is worth watching.

I wonder if that was why Brand replaced his minutes in the game against the Hornets.

  10.

love both Millsap and Horford, but essentially they are very similar and the Hawks have played several years now without a true starting 5. Do you sense the current leadership wants to eventually add someone you can throw the ball to down low for a bucket, or at least a defensive post anchor with ball skills a la Noah? I'd hate to see either Horford or Millsap, but it seems like the Hawks have been missing that true 5 for quite some time. I like Muscala but he seems to need more seasoning

    Chris Vivlamore, AJC

Right on Muscala. More seasoning. I beleive that eventually the Hawks will get that true center - whether he is on the roster now or not. It's a needed dimension. I can tell you that publically, CMB likes having the similar - and at times different - games of Horford and Millsap. With Millsap going to free agency next summer, that will make a big impact on the Hawks' plans.

  11. My eye test disagrees with me all the time.  We argue for a while and then go grab a beer and watch the Hawks.

I'm glad you and your eye test know how to keep it civil.  Last time I got in a fight with my eye test, I got a domestic violence charge.  Now I can't be within 20 yards of my eye test because it got a restraining order!

  12. He's impressive. How he gets this undersized crew to work and developing damn near everyone is amazing. Sap is better now than when he became a Hawk. Everyone has improved but Elton but he's old so he doesn't count.

You bring up a great point.  Someone as old as Sap and who already has that diverse of a skillset is tough to develop.  It really takes a hard-working, perfectionist coaching staff to continue to diversify and improve the game of guys like him.

  13. No the f* he can't. Most of Al offense come off of movement. It always will come off of movement. Saying otherwise is retarded. His speed and agility is just fine. His numbers since Sap's arrival has been superior at PF v. C. With Smoove and Zaza, Al was more productive since Josh was good at what Horf is weak at but Sap is redundant. They don't play well together. I am sick and tired of you foolish Hawk fans. So the f* what, he doesn't create his own offense. He doesn't need too if the offense is going right. Right now, Al issue is DEFENSE. Usually, it's his strong point with his movement but his movement isn't crisp right now and his D has been bad. With that said, healthy Al is a much better PF than a C. Hell, 80% Al is a much better PF than C. His PnP, PnR, and his mid range is always near elite. His issue is his short range which is usually elite is just solid this yr and his rebounding has been average to solid, not the very good we are used to. Sap and Horf don't fit. I watched today's game and came away not impressed with either. The lack of rim protector makes Jeremy Lin look like the beast.

Since when have the NBA's PF been good defenders. Most are ish on defense like Millsap. You guys are getting on my damn nerves. If we are going to get on Horf, let's be accurate.

    Back with numbers please.

  14. It's not my fault...lol...I have conspiracy theories and a bit of paranoia...like last night at the movies I thought somebody was throwing popcorn at me from five rows back...I was looking back like a crazy person every 5 minutes...in the end...no popcorn was thrown... But keep your eye on Thabo...he better not pull some 1985 Macho man Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan predetermined stuff tonight.

    GO HAWKS!!!!!

    Now you got me paranoid!

Freakin Thabo!!  I knew you were too good to be true!
