  1. Hmmmm.... not quite sure how that would work out, given that he was too expensive for us to keep in the first place, and all the more so now that we're aiming to keep Soto off the open market. Yeah, I think he's been injured quite a bit since he went to LAA.
  2. Keep? Invite them all as non-roster invitees except for the Franchise Icon, who, like your own franchise icon, should expect to mainly get whatever he asks (within reason, of course) just because he's who he is. But don't shut the door on the plausible return of Max. There's a way that that could work out to both sides' benefit. No kidding, some of us... and I do say "us"... see a lot of Nolan Ryan in Max... ie, in terms of his stamina and discipline and health routines, he's a unicorn who could be pitching productively into his 40s. Similar but different, there's some chance that Josh Harrison also gets an offer from Rizzo. Truly, our 2022 season probably won't be that competitive, but if it is, it will be because (a) Stras came back healthy and putting up 2019 Stras numbers (b) Corbin makes the 3.82 ERA he posted in the last month of 2022 (and June for that matter) the norm (c) One or both of MLB top-100 prospects Cade Cavalli and Josiah Gray emerge as legitimate middle of the order SPs (d) Rizzo signed Freddie Freeman to be our full-time 3B.
  3. My name is not Sol, nor is it Tucker. And I wouldn't have done this because I think you should let your enemies have their day in the sunshine undisturbed. And, moreover, I wouldn't have done this because it actually only calls attention to the fact that your enemy is having a parade, while you're, in effect, flying a kite or other such mechanism... they achieved something you didn't. Having said that... the adolescent prankster in me apparently hasn't completely been extinguished because, yeah, I still chuckled when I saw this just now... hehe...
  4. Pass. As a rule, I would never make a move this early in any given season. Takes about 25 games for a team to get settled. After that, I look at those next 5-10 games to assess SWOT. And. Paul George, even if available, doesn't move the needle for me. And... doesn't this belong in the Trades forum?
  5. Earworm surfaced per this thread, per lw3's decision to title it as he did... so I'm sharing mine with the rest of you...
  6. C'mon kg, gotta enjoy the humor of that flashback, no? I mean, yeah, turn that blind eye to the uniform of the opposing pitcher if you must... I get it... but setting that part aside, that's a fun tweet, and also a fun link even if you're not a fan of the 2019 and pending 2022 World Champions from the District.
  7. Astute observation that I'll put here, rather than muddying the WS celebration thread... I'm just classy like that.
  8. And it even gets better...... I just now saw this for the first time myself... https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/nationals/gerardo-parra-graces-internet-never-seen-video-stephen-strasburg-dancing
  9. Sorry... didn't mean to imply any snippiness or snarkiness in that... rather, just intending to affirm mostly agreement between what you said and what I said.
  10. Not so... just look... now that's whatcha call looooooooooooooooooooovvvvvve.
  11. Right. And that means you do agree with the Steve's assertion then (at least, the way I take it based on how he phrased it)... that Freddie will end up having to choose between hometown discount ("meet halfway") or moving to his second team.
  12. And/but that last sentence is so very key ordinarily and historically as far as I've ever observed. When your heart/emotion isn't in it, it's a whole lot easier to pass and be content with merely being "competitive." And it's so much more typical that corporate leadership just isn't going to have heart/emotion in it. Yes?
  13. (Exactly.) (...hehe... sometimes sarcasm speeds over the heads of even some of the brightest.)
  14. So, here's a thought from a friend o mine...
  15. Reflecting on this point, obviously, and wondering if the 2021 Braves are a one-off, or if having an ownership group that doesn't go get big-stage names at critical junctures is not the thing anymore that it's been in the past for pro sports champions. Once some of you get some coffee in you and sober up, I'd be interested to read your thoughts... but only after that, of course .
  16. Hard to figure why they would have come to that counterintuitive conclusion at the time. But yes, lots, and not including me, for sure.
  17. Have to say, I'm happy for Spud especially... and I'm not even kidding when I brutally say, any fan whose other teams... the Lions and our Hawks... have been so absent from their leagues' championship games for so very long... needs and maybe even deserves some uber-joy in his/her life. (Btw... keep the faith on Dan Campbell. I know, I know... Lions fans have been told that same thing with how many consecutive coaches now... but he could be this generation's Bill Cowher. Gutsy, relatable, smart. I thought he would be a head coach long before now.)
  18. Me, I don't think it's too much to expect... if they made it happen in Boston, it can happen in Atlanta.
  19. I didn't watch the game, but saw that highlight, and all I could think was Albert Pujols crushing a Brad Lidge pitch just like that years ago in a storied NLCS... back when men were men, and Astros were... well... men, too. (And when I was an Astros fan.)
  20. And Freddie, if you're reading this... make sure you take Rizzo's call this off-season.
