I don't believe anyone thinks Trae was our shadow GM who called all the shots.  I do think there is a potential for a nuanced conversation on Trae's influence.  Something more than zero impact on several of our moves.

Yes, you get all the channels for free.

It doesn’t have DVR like a normal box but it does have recorded play back for some of the main channels you can go back and watch. I think it may stay on there for about a week or so.  That includes the NBA league pass, NFL and the other pro sports league passes.

I haven’t tried the apps as I have my Netflix downloaded as an app on my smart TV. I would think you would be able to download on there as long as it is on the google apps. Truth be told the movie app they have will probably have everything Netflix has plus newly released movies.

I was skeptical when I was first told about but it’s one of the best investments I made. Just one season of either NFL, NBA, or MLB package makes it worth it for me. I don’t ever miss a game or movie I want to watch.

if you go out of town you just take the box with you and connect it to a TV and WiFi and you can use it that way too.

Can you watch every NFL game during the season?

If Ressler has made Trae de facto general manager then we deserve whatever fate befalls us. You have to set boundaries. Players can't be involved in personnel decisions. Period. Yes LeBron did make decisions in his prime. That was a transcendent generational star with immense, unprecedented leverage. Hear Trae out, let him have a voice, humor him if need be. But under no circumstances should players be making personnel decisions.

This is kinda going off topic but I'm gonna say it anyway.  I would listen to Trae Young before I would listen to Lebron James nonplaying ass.  Folks know how I feel about Trae.  I never said Trae can't play.  He can play.  I just don't like how he plays.  Thats different. Trae has skills you can see.  Lebron just bowls you over and if he doesn't score the refs put him on the free throw line.  The reason the NBA Allstar weekend is garbage now is because Lebron got away with not being in the dunk contest.  He didn't wanna participate because he would have had to show some creativity which he does NOT have and he knows it.

Lebron James has been the biggest con in sports history.  Only folks who can't think for themselves and let the programming tell them that Lebron is the goat believe that crap.  Comparing him to Michael Jordan?  Heck, Lebron never was the best in HIS generation of basketball.  Rant over.

"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.....Your Atlanta Hawks!

With the Atlanta Hawks, everything is on the table.  How would folks feel if they push back against the NBA and the luxury tax by off loading Trae, trading the first pick of the draft, and doing a "soft" rebuild around cheap contracts.  Remember, at the end of the day Travis Schlenk's vision didn't mesh with the Hawks bean counters (off loading Huerter, Gallinari, etc.).

Whether I like Trae or not the Hawks wanted to build around only him and surround him with cheap contracts.  Murray (and Capela) was the exception and since it didn't work, Trae wants out. It was more than Trae and Schlenk not being on the same page. Everything is on the table with the Hawks.  The message is its not a foregone conclusion that they trade Trae and draft Sarr.  The double talk from Fields is want got me wondering exactly what they are gonna do.  The NBA wouldn't like it and would most likely do a dry search for new ownership in Atlanta.

Different scenarios though. Nique was traded without his knowledge vs. Trae requesting a trade.
Or are you in favor of mortgaging the future for appeasing the star to keep him around a little longer?

Thats my feeling also (Trae wants to be traded).  Sarr is compensation to insure the Hawks are a marketable team.

Agreed.  The last time we traded a star player it was a bit of a disaster and destroyed the most promising season in Nique’s entire run with the team.  Trading him for a lesser talent to avoid paying him was a huge PR and basketball mistake.  Better to hang on to your star a bit too long than to trade him away too early.  Make the most of it.

Its ironic that Lenny Wilkins felt that Wilkins was a scorer that you couldn't build a championship around.  Back then very few players in the league had the ability to overrule a head coach.  Its not the same today.  The tea leaves say Trae WANTS to be traded and I believe Quin is on board with it.  The NBA gifted the Hawks Sarr to insure the PR folks still have something to market.  Just my opinion.

More double talk from the Hawks.  Prediction:  They trade the first pick so that they don't have to pay the market rate for the first pick.  They then trade DJM and Murray for a bucket of wings and potato chips.  They are not gonna go into the luxury tax.  Their wins to player cost ratio is 101 percent.  That looks good to the investors.

Typo. They will trade Murray and Capela to save money.

Have any of the current Hawks commented on the lottery?  I don't think I've seen anything from anyone whether it is Trae, DJM, or Seth Lundry.

And draw the wrath of Trae?  He ain't out the building...yet

Based on what we've seen, it feels like trading Trae has been a very real option they were considering even before we landed the number one pick.

When the Hawks "won" the lottery, I immediately attempted to piece together what this means.  The NBA is a business.  Read into that what you want.  The NBA always makes sure the home market has a "star" to market.

The Hawks are right there despite all of the mismanagement of assets. Landry isn't going to blow this team up knowing he will get scapegoated if/when things don't pan out.

"if/when"...?   It already ain't panned out.  Thats WHY they were in the lottery.

The fact that Mark Bradley is advocating for something (anything at all) is all the proof I need that my opposite position is correct.  Between him, Jeff Schultz, and Terrance Moore, the AJC back in the day had the market cornered on hilariously bad sports takes.

Growth is willing to change even when you don't agree with change.

This is it right here KG.  We have the #1 pick in the draft and I honestly, we need to make the pick...if for nothing but optics alone.  I believe Sarr is the pick.  Worst case scenario is he absolutely busts and we don't trade him before the potential expires.  No one will blame us for it.  We don't blame teams for making the right pick, even if that pick doesn't pan out.  The heat comes when the right pick is staring you in the face and you gamble.

The Hawks have TWO starting point guards. This isn't even hard.  Trading either Trae or Murray and adding Sarr is not blowing it up or starting over (for anyone who says that).  Some teams don't even have a starting point guard (Pelicans).  The Hawks are in a very good and unexpected position right now.  They play their cards right and they can immediately jump into the conversation in the East.

  16. The main thing I gather is the Hawks have OPTIONS.  Trae has trade value:

Bradley’s Buzz: Winning lottery hands Hawks a way to trade Trae Young

"The Hawks need a guard who isn’t Trae Young. They should trade him for something – future draft slots would be most welcome – and use this draft to find Murray a new partner. Or they can take a big man – Clint Capela also needs a new home – and bump Bogdan Bogdanovic back to the first five. Before Sunday, the Hawks mostly faced bad choices. Now they have real options."
