  1. This is all mental masturbation until we figure out where we will draft.  The top pick is Ayton.  Bagley will probably be #2.  The third pick could be one of 4-5 guys including Bamba, Doncic, JJJ, Young.  The lower we draft, the more our pick becomes dictated by what is left.

Please Sullinger was not a lottery talent...Probably not even a 1st round talent

    Based on what?

Arguing that Carter is not a lottery pick and that Sullinger was not a first round talent is silly.  The fact that Sullinger's career was shortened due to injuries says nothing about what level of talent he had as a prospect and where he was projected to go.  The "eye test" is also silly.  There are just a couple of guys each year who are eye-popping, but there are 14 lottery choices.  Most of them don't become NBA all-stars.  That's no knock on them, just a commentary on the rarity of NBA star talent.  Carter would be a lottery pick any year due to his size, skill, and production.  In years with thinner talent pools, he would be a top-5 pick.  Alex Len was a top-5 pick.  Absurd arguments here.

Correction.  They gutted a good roster, and they now have an awful roster thanks to Travis Schlenk.  And it will continue to be awful for years.

That was a ghastly, below average roster that was totally maxed out in player development and salary.  Ew.  It makes me shudder to think of it.  The stink of it still hangs over us with Bazemore’s obscene contract.

Yeah, because the Hawks are clearly on a championship path now.

We are one season closer to a championship than we were in 2017.  The first step was to gut that awful roster.  Done.

I'm glad you are a process person.  But you didn't move all in with pocket Aces, you folded with a King and a 10.   And you said, last time I had a King and a 10, I didn't win.   So, I might as well just not try.

That might be a good analogy if nobody had ever won with KT and the hand never improved after the flop

Except your opinion isn’t fact.  You just have a loser’s mentality.

KB.  I know you’re a smart guy.  We both went to med school the same year.  Remember?  You can’t possibly think I was saying my opinion is fact, can you?  Clearly I was showing that asserting something subjective as fact doesn’t advance the conversation.

Being in the playoffs > being in the lottery.

Being in the lottery > being 8th seed with a depressing, declining, dead end, capped out roster.

I can assert my opinion as fact just as easily

Then you will enjoy being the team that all the other teams wipe their feet on at the door with no hope of getting better for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, but that team gets to draft a potential star for their efforts, while the pimple on the butt gets to draft a role player to maybe offset the decline of their expensive, core to maybe, just maybe, win 42 games again and play fluffer to Lebron.

Let's talk about the absolutely right in your convictions.  IF tanking never takes us anywhere... not even back to the playoffs... what about it made it absolutely right to you?

Doing something different just to do something different?

Stephen Covey has a very good habit.  "Begin with the end in mind".   I challenged you who think that tanking is absolutely right to share with me your "endgame" and so far, I get.. strawman and vague comments and even attacks... it's interesting.

"If your ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step you take gets you to the wrong place faster."

That’s a great question.  If you moved all in with pocket aces before the flop and lost, was it the right move?  If you say no, you’re a results person.  If you say yes, you’re a process person.  I’m process person.  The correct process (read, decision) does not guarantee success.

Wow... so you are saying that this is just a exercise in futility.

Or is it.. that you have been program to criticize but have NO TRUE CONVICTIONS OF YOUR OWN?  DOES ANYBODY HERE BELIEVE THAT TANKING WILL LEAD US TO CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBRE?

    1) If squawkers read “so you’re saying,” they can bet whatever comes next is a strawman.

    2) What is with the escalating font sizes?

    3) I do have convictions—I believe tanking was absolutely the right move and I stand by that.  I will stand by it even if we strike out in the draft.

Well of course someone who supports the atrocities of tanking would say that my arguments are strawman building and goalpost moving, when the fact is, 5 years is the amount of time where you have this first draft pick in a cost controlled situation before you have to overpay to keep him.  So, if the strategy works, it should work within that cost controlled period of time.

We’ve been through this.  You equivocate (a third logical fallacy) by using different definitions of “worked” to critique tanking vs continuing with our bloated corpse of a roster we had in 2017.  Hey if I get to judge things on different scales l can prove anything I want.

And no one has proven me wrong yet.  Go figure.

I agree with diesel.  Those of you who support this atrocious strategy that only guarantees losing, put your balls in your hands and tell me that this path will guarantee that the Hawks are at a championship level within 4 years and the rebuild will be over after two.

Because I have no issues with with stating emphatically that the Hawks will not win for at least 5 years.

No one has proven you wrong by your own standards which are self-servingly designed by you to be impossible to prove wrong.  Your arguments have been mostly strawman building and goalpost moving.

He's not top 5. I dont care what KB says..Agree to disagree. JUst the other day KB said Draymond green was a better player than Anthony Davis. lol. So.......

The fact KB made one stupid comment doesn’t mean all his comments are wrong.  Nobody is right or wrong all the time.

I never said anything about us drafting a Giannis. THis year. KB twisted that shit around. lol

Whatever.  I’m just saying you’re selling him short.  He is as good as KB says, and he will probably get better.

  15. 12 minutes ago, buckyboy2 said:

lol. Let me know when he wins anything. Hell win a playoff series why dontcha? Im notnearly as high on Giannis as you are obviously. So a top 5 player in the league has his team sitting in the 8th seed in the weak East..Ok

We would be very lucky to draft Giannis in this draft.  This tank wouldn’t have been necessary if he’d fallen 2 more spots.  There have been lots of great players on mediocre teams.  One of them was Michael Jordan.  Giannis is 23.  When MJ was 23 he scored 37 ppg and his team went 40-42.  The conversation then was that a selfish player like MJ didn’t make his team better.  Lol.
