Again...you have to do that with PURPOSE AND INTENTION to have him shoot in scoring position.  It requires teammates to not only get him the ball when he gets open, but it also involves setting screens and cross screens to get him open.  It has to be in the actual playback with everyone working together, not just have him running to run.

We have seen some of these actions under Quin to know it can work, just not enough. But again in involves everyone knowing the assignment and actually running the play with timing and precision.

just to be clear, Trae is part of "everyone" right?

He is the PG.  Folks act like averaging 11 assists is simple yet almost no one else in the league does it.

This is his game.  I understand some people don't like it but not letting him be the primary facilitator is a mistake.  It's the one thing we know works.  What doesn't work is having him take turns with another guy who dribbles for 20 seconds but isn't nearly as a good a passer.

I agree that my turn your turn offense doesn't work.  But what would work is Trae giving up the ball earlier and working to get open for a CnS opportunity.  Also, moving the ball more keeps everyone else involved even if its just to touch the ball every once in a while.  But Trae has been steadfast in his refusal to do that so here we are.

...and I like him long term as a prospect.  I'm 100% on board with using the 10th pick on Cody Williams if he drops to that pick, which is a lot more likely now than it was 2 months ago.  I'm also high on Ron Holland.  However, I don't see Cody as a player who will make an impact at all his rookie year.  He's going to be a College Park guy who plays sparingly, but I do agree that he can be very good with proper development.  I have no issue with wanting him.

I don't see him or Holland as players we just absolutely have to have though.  That's the thing with this draft.  I personally don't see anyone that we just absolutely have to have.  I see guys who could potentially be long term pieces after developing properly in Hawks University.  Part of developing properly is that you do not just lose games intentionally.

I don't see a single player in this draft that I feel would start or play major minutes for the Hawks this year.  Even if we got the #1 pick and drafted Sarr, I doubt he does much as a rookie.

Just as I would have no issue with Williams/Holland at 10, I'd also have no issue with someone like Tristan Da Silva at 15 or even getting him at 15 and following that up with the best defender in the draft Ryan Dunn if that King's pick conveys.

If we ended up with Da Silva at 15 and CDbub is there at #10 that will be a total disaster.

Agree that CDub is a project and won't be ready to contribute much at first, but he has the best genes in the draft and a better starting frame than his big brother.    Might have tghe most upside of any player in the draft.

Thing is, win tonight and lose the next game, and we still pick 10th.  If we win and get in, we pick 15th.  Could potentially have 15th and 16th picks.

why chance it?  Get that loss tonight and be done with it, start prepping for the draft.  Could be a massive diference between 10 and 15.

I'd rather win and get into an extended playoff series than solidify a top 10 pick in this draft.  I think the Hawks not converting Vit to a rest of season deal though significantly impairs our ability to beat Chicago.

if that's the difference between being able to draft CDub and not being able to draft CDub then sign me up for a 20 point loss tomorrow and quick exit to the lottery.

He doesn't start but yeah I forgot about him. Yeah, they aren't drafting a PG when they drafted one last year.

They have a drive and kick scheme. I don't see the fit. They like to play 5 out, A LOT. They do need size but you can find size in Europe for how they play

not just drive and kick.  They also play drive and cut like they're still living in the 90s.   That's why they need the middle open, so there is room for the cutters to flash.

    Cason Wallace.

OKC is also one of the faster paced offenses in the NBA.  Bad fit for the slow Edey.

Wallace is NOT a point guard.  He's a shooting guard.   The 3 PGs on OKC are SGA, JDub and Giddey.

Heck, Chet initiates more offense than Wallace.

SGA is not a PG anymore, who's the 3rd one?

Here's what I've learned watching 60+ Thunder games this year.  SGA isn't the PG on that team, he's the 2.    PG is JDub.  Giddey also runs the point.  SGA runs it as well.   JDub is the best PnR initiator on the team.

So they have 3 PGs in the SL.    And when any of them rest there is always at least one on the court to run the point.
