OKC has the flexibility to do whatever they want. They could even draft a PG if they think Giddey isn't what they want anymore. They are loaded with ammo.

OKC needs size, but also doesn't want to give up it's style of play and clog the middle.  Tough to balance the two.

No way they draft a PG.  They already have 3 of them in the starting lineup.

You've seen enough to know he will be out there the moment they allow him to step back on the court.  Whatever his faults, he is a gamer and a competitor.

no doubt about it.  Pound for pound he's the toughest person in the NBA.     I'm concerned with the team holding him back for whatever reason.   Although at this point in the season with the place in the standings already determined I can't imagine what that reason would be.

  3. My favorite part of the game was when UConn brought in their athletic undersized center and Purdue went to drop coverage on the PnR.  UConn ran two straigt PnRs and got uncontested ally oop dunks for their big because Edey is so slow he couldn't even defend the rim in drop coverage.

LOL even my wife made a comment about how he would get killed at the next level after witnessing that display.

Anyone wanting to waste a draft pick on him after that display is out to lunch.

I know Trae wants to play and help his team, but there's no need to rush back.  Let that hand get completely healthy.  No need to take unnecessary risk with this season.  And if he does play again this season, when they lose, the takes are going to be horrendous.  But, then again, they already are.

Jesus Christ its a pinkie on his non shooting hand.   There's no risk at this point.    He needs to get some games in if he's going to be ready for the Hawks Super Bowl a/k/a the Play In Tourney.

That should be a really good game.  I’m excited to watch it and the variety and strength of opinions on this thread do make it more interesting still.

I don’t disagree that you take the most impactful player on the board unless they are almost certain to be there with your next pick.  That said, I would feel a lot better about taking Edey with the Sacramento pick if we are going to do it just because I feel like there will be some intriguing options at 10 that won’t be there under any circumstances closer to 20.  Edey seems like the hardest player to predict in terms of draft slot that I can remember in some time.

hopefully it's a good game.  Purdue didn't have much trouble with them when they played a few months ago.

    10. Atlanta Hawks: Cody Williams

Previous Mock Draft Spot: No. 5

    Team: Colorado

    Position: SF/PF

    Size: 6'9", 190 lbs

    Age/Year: 19, Freshman

    Nationality: American

    Pro Comparison: Jaden McDaniels

Cody Williams finished the year on a high note in a loss to Marquette, looking more aggressive with drives, hitting a three and delivering some impressive defensive sequences.

He's still clearly on the raw side, lacking polish off the dribble, showing no real pull-up game and averaging just 1.7 three-point attempts per game. But he'll remain a top-10 candidate, with the likelihood that one team covets a big, two-way wing archetype and can afford to wait on his creation and shot developing.

Even if the team that drafts him doesn't have time to wait, Williams would still have something to offer as a 6'9" driver, off-ball play-finisher and wing stopper who generally plays the right way.

    21. Atlanta Hawks (via Kings): Yves Missi

Previous mock draft spot: No. 21

    School: Baylor

    Nationality: Cameroon

    Position: C

    Size: 7'0", 235 lbs

    Age: 19

    Pro comparison: Mark Williams

A quiet game in a loss to Clemson capped off a productive season of 63 dunks, interior defense and occasional face-up drives. Teams interested in adding another easy-basket target and shot-blocker will have to assess Missi versus Zach Edey, who's far more productive and skilled, but also older and less athletic/mobile.

Missi's 61.6 free-throw percentage and 13 total assists are worth thinking about, but given his tools, foot speed, coordination and leaping, it's also easy to picture his finishing, switchability and rim protection carrying over.

I think that's the worst mock I've seen yet.  if they get 2 picks right I'll be shocked.

Why?  What would anyone have to ask that doesn't apply to literally every other player in every other sport?

This isn't an 'NBA' problem, it's an 'all sports' problem.

This is an illustration of why sports can't be in bed with betting.  There's no way this isn't happening in all sports now.  It's too easy to do it and get away with it.

    WackAdam strikes again.

It's happening in baseball.  Only difference is Porter wasn't smart enough to have a fall guy like the Japanese guy did.

    How?

As a drop defender, he's protects the paint, the rim, he's an elite box out and defensive rebounding package not to mention, tremendous mental acuity. These are three of the five most important things teams look for in a center.

That baseline means at the very least, he's going to be a solid drop defender. Not as good as any of our current 5s or even as good as Hawks Dedmon but better than Damian Jones and Alex Len.

It's hilarious how off the wall Edey takes are from those who don't like him.

You would think he's Tacko Fall when they mention him

    How?

Can't guard in space and will get eaten up in the PnR.    This isn't rocket science.

One of the things I've said on another site is there is this assumption he will grow because look at his brother but he doesn't have the same frame as his brother. His frame is more like Brandon Miller. Jaden frame is a bigger McCollum. That's why his boom potential as off the charts.

I think this might be the Marquis to Jeff Teague situation.

I never saw his brother at the same age so don't know for sure, but CDub definitely appears to be much lankier.  It all comes down to him putting in the work.  As long as he follows his big brother's lead, it shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't hesitate to grab him if he dropped to ATL.  I would consider him with a top 3 pick in this draft.

If he doesn't physically grow, his bust potential is off the charts. He just isn't athletic enough as 2 and is way too small for a 3. That said, he's high risk.

if he doesn't grow then yes.   However, just look at his brother.  He's gonna grow and get a lot better, almost guaranteed.  Once he puts on weight he's got great size for the wing.   I'm willing to bet on the Williams family genes based on how good JDub has turned out to be.  CDub was better than JDub at the same age and he's got a bigger frame.

Given his lineage I would not put him in the high risk category.
