I really find the 'pick back strategy' stupid. SAS has no real incentive to do that. This just reeks of our own desperation and incompetence.

I don't agree with that.  If they trade ATL back their picks + 1-2 more FRPs then essentially didn't they trade DJM and 1-2FRPs for Trae Young?   That's still a great deal for SAS.

  2. if I had more skills and time I would insert the GIF of John Candy from Planes trains and autos yelling at the other car "you're going the wrong way!"

San Antonio doesn't deserve to be gifted another dynasty.

I agree with this and hate Pop, but the alterative is to have SAS trade Wemby to the Hawks.    As as much as SAS doesn't deserve another dynasty, the Resslers deserve one even less.

for the good of the league and the game in general, the Spurs should trade Wemby to Atlanta.  The world deserves to see that PnR combo dominate the sport like never seen before.

if there has ever been an owner who didn't deserve that it would be Ressler.

All I know is Pop and Carlisle are going to go crazy about how the Nets did him wrong and it's unfair and Vaughn is the greatest and the Nets org sucks.  I haven't seen it yet but i'm sure it's coming...right?

really depends on how much Vaughn did for the democratic party.   That's the criteria to get in the door for Pop and Carlisle to put on their fancy white knight clothes.

As is the case with basically everything Silver has wrought on the league, it sounded like a good idea that ended up not passing the smell test under light scrutiny.

Farming a bunch of players with no concept of "winning" or "team"?  What could go wrong with that?

if you look at the list of players drafted from G League Ignite it's really starting to look like an unmitigated disaster.   Guys like Jalen Green and Scoot Henderson who came in super hyped and show up completely undeveloped.

At this point Kuminga might be the only success story and that is probably because he spent a couple years learning how to basketball with a top notch franchise Golden State.

Who is in that long line who's dominated college? I don't believe we have seen anyone this offensively dominated. And a lot of what he does is things you only see from Al Horford or Tim Duncan like his elite feel for the game movement wise. If a play breaks down, he goes into the right spots. That type of BBIQ is next to impossible to find for bigs. He's going to have to adjust pace wise to the NBA and he's no threat in transition for this era but is there a better half court offensive big in the last 40 years to enter the NBA? Idk and I don't think so. I think his BBIQ is impressive on both ends. He's miles better at movement on both ends than he was just last year. I see a potential stud once he adjust. We saw Gobert had to adjust and he's been a top 10-15 impact player since his 2nd year in the NBA.

The more and more I think about it, I am more sold on Edey for the Hawks than anyone since I am not sold, been awhile.

His agility is excellent for his size. His speed will always be a problem. He's going to have to adjust, if he does, watch out. If he doesn't, he's going to be a career 3rd stringer. He's boom or bust.

just in the last few years:

    Oscar Tshiebwe

    Luca Garza

Both dominated CBB and were national player of the year.

I think Murray is a solid passer for a PG. There is a massive gap between the two as passers.

Don't agree with the first part, but do agree with the 2nd part.

I would say that for a PG, Murray is way below league average as a passer.

I didn't know NBA fans were so xenophobic. "I would be a huge fan of his, but he's not American!" Like nobody is thinking that at all. Do you seriously believe if had just been born in Scranton or Toledo that would make some huge difference in his marketability? That's absolutely moronic.

nothing to do with xenophobia, just human nature.  People prefer athletes who are from the same area as them or the same country at least.   I'm talking nationally here, not locally.    Of course people will cheer for guys who are on their team no matter where they are from, but nationally a USA born player has a lot more cache with people who live in the USA than foreign players.

Just look at jersey sales.  The top 3 are all USA born and 7 of the top 10 are USA born.  Remind me, when was the last time a USA  player won MVP?    Jokic isn't even in the top 10 in 2023 despite coming off back to back MVPs and winning the NBA Finals with a Finals MVP award.  he sits at #14.

Isn't that kind of what you want in the dunk contest though? Novelty? All of these guys can mostly do the same stuff but seeing a dude that small do it is incredible every time for me

the small guy can't do the same stuff.  Small guy wins because dunk contests are graded on a curve and favor smaller players.

I don't think you can go very wrong but I'd take:

Nique, Jordan, Vince, Dr. J, Griffin, and Spud.

Objectively I probably wouldn't include Spud since he wasn't a standout dunker for a long period of time or anything but his win was over some giants and was easily the most distinctive in the history of the game.  So I'm including one big man and one small man among the supremely athletic wings who typically dominate this event.

Spud was great but he's a novelty.   Replace him with David Thompson for a better contest.

Has being White helped Jokic being marketed? People who don't follow the NBA have no clue who he is despite being arguably the best player in the world. I'm going to say that again. He's white, he's the best player in the world. He doesn't even have his own shoe.

post after post, you keep skipping right over the AMERICAN part.   Why you keep doing that?

Brandon Jennings and Saddiq Bey also have 50pt games.

Maxey has been terrible without JoeLLLL aka in the Trae role.  Wake me when the eggsperts say a peep about it.......

..... here lies kg01, just went to sleep and never woke up.

they talked about it a lot on the afternoon show yesterday.

I just wish they would connect the dots and use it to compare him to Trae who is #1 on the opponent's scouting report every game since he entered the league.

I like the intent of the article but that was really poorly written.  So many misstatements and weird sentences.  I think I know what they were trying to convey, but it was a tough read.

it;s Deadspin.   They have an editor who is the biggest [EDIT: insert lightly hyphenated genitalia here ~lw3] in the world. And she's basically illiterate.   She might also be teh single worst person in the entire world.  On my Chicago sports fan message board we have a thread dedicated to what a POS Julie Dicaro is and right now that thread is over 1500 pages long.

Pleaes don't even click on anything there.  Right now they are being sued because they accused a Kansas City 10 year fan of being racist because he wore black and red face paint to a game.
