  1. It’s still pretty early in szn the hawks can make moves in any direction.

Quin has a lot of power in the organization and if he really wants Siakam I’m not sure why fans would be opposed to it especially at the price Shams reported and I shared back in the summer. Think of it as just swapping hunter out for siakam since from a rotational standpoint that is what it is. Adding an elite two way player makes every team better. They would still need other moves tho

Unless he ext, any trade for him is extremely high risk.

Ya'll been saying who cares for years only digging ourselves into a digger hole.

    I care

Extremely high indeed. Landry and them have to have an extension ready for him to sign the moment they trade for him (and Tony has to be ready to pay). Luckily for them the expected cost is very cheap but it all comes down to where Tony is and I have no belief in him smh.

A Siakam deal is awful because he doesn't want to be here.

A O.G. deal is awful because he doesn't want to be here.

Move on from Toronto based trades.

Siakam wants to be wherever he will get paid. If Tony will pay up then he’ll be a hawk. His whole posturing this summer has been so he can get that max from Toronto but they don’t want him at all. Part of why Murray took a pay cut is so they can pay a third piece

  4. The overreactions on this thread are hilarious. By all accounts they are a better team than their record indicates. Tough schedule paired with a Jalen injury and you have the record they currently have.

Majority of Quin's teams have a history of slow starts and then they take off. Just have some patience lol

If this is the best games of his career, we are f***ed

Didn't say that was his best game. But that was a great defensive game from a player that has been horrible on that end. Might have even been the best perimeter defender last night. Was on point on rotations and closeouts too. Any and all hawks fans wanted to see this type of effort on this end of the floor for Trae and its a sign of Quin coaching and him buying in. He should continue to get better on this end of the floor. Its not a coincidence he finally has a positive DPM on the season too. We are screwed for a plethora of reasons but scapegoating trae makes no sense especially he has been far from the issue the last 12 games.

    Patience

For all of the cries of Hunter barely getting  better, the said best player has improved less than 12.

As I said, everyone is looking for a scapegoat but this team's mistake happened way before we hired Quin or Nate.

The best player just had his best two way game of his career lol. Dre has been the same guy since hes come into the league

Offensive rating means nothing. If you struggle in the half court when you need a bucket, your metrics are fugazi

They are number 3 in points per 100 possessions in the half court per cleaning the glass. 8th in points per 100 possessions. And they are the team with the most possessions in the half court. The offense is good lol by every metric

What we doing now isn't gonna to lead us to anything but a 8th seed.

We aren't even atruly great offense

No way you’re saying they aren’t a great offense lol. They are on pace to be second in nba history for offensive rating (behind this years pacers team). The offense is elite. The problem is defense

I have legit fit concerns with him. This idea you can just take guys that are good and throw them together and the sum is better than the parts just doesn't work. Siakam has no real ability to stretch a defense. DJM already lives in the mid range. Trae loves his middie as well. So does Siakam. That's simply too many guys in too little space. OO or Capela can't shoot so. Having two out of three front court guys that can't hit threes or stretch a defense is not going to work.

Literally first 5 games with Quin, Onyeak was shooting 3s... he has the ability to shoot and has worked on his game that.

Trae does not love the middy at all lol. He is a three and floater guy who added an in between game. DJ shot 35% on good volume last year and did better in th playoffs. They all can shoot stop acting like these guys are ben simmons out there.

No. The September wait is for Bogi to be eligible to be traded in a potential deal to Minnesota.

The Siakam situation is bizarre and a little sad. He really wants to stay there...on a supermax deal. The team does not want him there. HIs teammates want him gone so it will be "their" team (Barnes and OG) and his staying there squashes their shots and usage.

So his camp has tried to sabotage his trade value. It has worked. Teams are not going to give up the farm or anywhere close to it for a pouting good but not great player who is demanding a supermax contract. Oh, and lest we forget reports from his camp leaked a month or so ago that he wouldn't resign with a team that traded for him. He's pulling a reverse Harden by literally forcing the Raptors to keep him because they can't afford to trade him for his actual limited value due to the reasons listed above. His defense, btw, has declined the last two seasons and he's going to hit 30 this upcoming season.

What front office in their right mind would give up a lot of value for this? Raps fans are in literal denial thinking they are going to get some kind of cornucopia of assets for him.

Something to consider for all of us and all teams: remember back when the CBA was designed so only true superstar players got max deals? And under that came the almost but not max deals? With the second apron being a hard cap (and yes, it is a hard cap) we are back to that reality.

Teams can't afford to give out max/supermax deals to players that truly do not deserve it. Siakam is a top 30-40 player in the NBA. Is that supermax? In the old CBA, sure. In the current CBA? Naw, fam. He's not. Teams are now adjusting their financial commitment to players accordingly with the new CBA. There's a reason our guys like Capela, Hunter and Bogi are being asked about in trades.

We all know how valuable rookie deal rotation players are. They are basically platinum value in the new CBA. Proven veterans that are making good but not great money? Yep, that's the new muscle car out there. We've got three of them. We just traded a fourth and had we not squandered his trade value we could have gotten more.

So guys like Capela, Hunter, Bogi have far more trade value than Siakam as a result. They are good players locked into long term deals that also aren't "the face of franchise" guys or demand a lot of usage. They are more valuable by a considerable margin than Siakam.

Quite frankly I would pass on Siakam in the Hawks FO and go after KAT or simply wait (I know some of you don't want to hear this) to see if another trade presents itself. Our guys value is not going to go down. We really can afford to wait things out and let our young guys (OO, JJ, AJ, Kobe) prove themselves.

Pass on a top 20 guy making less money than a top 40 guy in KAT LOL. makes a ton of sense. Like i said before they have zero interest in kat. Nada rn

  11. For those of you wondering why the siakam deal has yet to take place… his agent is weary that Tony will pay siakam when he’s due for an extension. The whole reporting that siakam wants to stay is fully money related. They want the money and they don’t think our ownership group will pay.

we can’t immediately sign him to his 4 year max and they are scared if things don’t start how they should Tony will balk at the contract. The framework is done involving ATL, Dallas, Toronto

So Steve Koonin confirms what we were telling you on here for sometime about trades we were/are close to making. I legit thought last weekend KAT would be announced. I still think there's a chance it happens just now the timeline is pushed back to Sept.

They are literally talking about siakam… he literally said in the interviews there “are some conversations going on right now”. As in a meeting with Masai

Ah, you hammered the insiders for this.  What gives, Mikey?

Hey, just holding you to your own exhausting standards. 😉

What standard? Of saying that a deal may or may not happen. Where am I saying it won’t happen. Just saying it’s in Masai corner

If that is indeed the case, I appreciate Landry's backbone.  As a rookie GM, most veteran GM's would expect to have the upper hand in negotiations.

Remember Landry and Masai have a real relationship from his Toronto days. He knows the game and probably knows really well Masai’s game. Let it play out. Unless someone comes with a real offer that forces hawks to up it, deal should get done

Toronto has some major issues. It's not in Atlanta best interest to fix their problems. They can easily just let him walk for free or pay him 60+ million next year. Their choice. Every team that trades for him has to take into account his next contract. That's a big part of his trade value and it's a big part why Toronto wants to do a deal right now.

Toronto fans literally think they are trading Siakam at 5/100 million which is why they are asking for the world when they are trading a guy who doesn't want to resign with anyone other than Toronto. Wants the Max. That would be for him, 50+ million per year. That's a lot for the next team. That's why teams are only open to give you players they may value but don't value as much as the youth. Add to the fact that he's not a game changer for anyone and that's a killer as well.

Toronto going to have to make a decision. The last thing I want is to hold him, don't want to pay him and San Antonio is right there offering him less than the max and he signs because he believes in Spurs culture and Wemby. 🤣

To me, Hunter and a 1st is massively better than him Walking or being stuck in shitland paying him 50+ million and OG walking because he doesn't like his offensive role.

I one 5 players last season to average 24/7/5 but yeah he’s not a game changer LOL.

we should instead go waste all our assets on that guy in Minny who has yet to win a playoff series while have something of the worst playoff moments to exist. All while not defending at the one position in the nba you gotta defend at. Oh yeah and he’s making as much as siakam will on his next deal and isn’t even in siakam tier as a player

Does Siakam have some kind of history of being able to shut down Tatum or Embiid that I’m not aware of? Kind of like how OO is the Giannis stopper.

Because if we’re not going to be able to shoot the 3 well, we damn sure better be able to shut these superstars down on defense.

They gonna be able to shoot. Every player on the hawks starting 5 will be *able* to shoot. And Quin will likely have them a top the league in attempts.

From Trae to O they all will fire threes this szn.

    Update

Hawks are still working on the secondary framework and the 3rd and potentially 4th team in a KAT to Atlanta deal. There has been some reluctance from an owner with Minnesota but their GM is strongly pushing for a trade right now as his value at its assumed peak.

Teams see KAT like LA Blake Griffin right as he was traded to Detroit. The belief is, he has an all star or two seasons in him but many expect a steep decline with the new contract being a massive overpay. That's why there has been just two teams and of course, the two desperate to get better fast teams in the market for him which was Dallas and now currently Atlanta.

He says Atlanta is also still talking with Toronto about Siakam but they are still really far from a trade. As I said, Siakam is Atlanta top target by a mile.

Could we end this week with no trades, possibly but Atlanta is close on KAT. There is just secondary parts that aren't so easy to solve and JJ is NOT in the deal, Minnesota wants him in the deal and that might be causing some issues as well.

Still, I expect this to get done sooner than later or not at all. Also, I said two 1sts previously, I was wrong, they are still negotiating that but Minnesota wants two 1sts which they did get from Dallas before Atlanta out bidded them overall with Bey who Minnesota highly coveted.

The key pieces are done, just the other pieces and 3rd parties are not for now.

Nothing new aside from that. This isn't the done deal I thought it was yesterday but they aren't far either.

This was your last update... yes you mention siakam but you say talks are far and specifically say the key pieces are done for KAT...

Cool you mentioned siakam still but you both have been on this KAT train when they have zero interest in that horrendous contract

    Got an update:

Siakam and KAT are the main two targets. Team would rather have Siakam because his defense is better than KAT's (I love KAT and can't argue this). It sounds like Toronto is willing to accept a more fair deal for him. It also sounds like Siakam is willing to stay in Atlanta. Hunter would be the main piece we send to Toronto.

One source said "it might be getting spicy soon in the ATL" so take that FWIW.

Yall can stop with the KAT stuff LOL. Siakam is almost assuredly a hawk. Clint to dallas/houston, those assets and dre + 24 kings for siakam
