So all the speculation of DJM being purposely held out of games due to potential trades was just... speculation.

Time to give those minutes to Kobe and AJ.
100% agree with this.

The refs apparently don't like Hunter?

Refs doing their best to get Hunter out of the game, SMH.

Why are g-leaguers in the nba dunk competition? I know they want Mac in there but 2 out 4? And JB waited until he was 27 years old to do it.
Aaron Gordon should come out of retirement from the competition and get his long overdue title.
I don't blame him for refusing to participate again. I don't know if there was something personal between him and the judges (mostly D. Wade), but he got robbed. With that said, I think Mac takes it again regardless.

To be clear... I'm not in the habit of giving guys a pass arbitrarily. We need players, not bodies. That said, AJ is like any young prospect to me that shows potential. He hasn't been injured (that we know of) and before this offseason he seemed like a very humble and stable individual. So, for me, he's just as promising as he was in year 1. I'm not saying he will develop into an All-NBA caliber player, but rookies take time to develop and I'm willing to give him a bit longer than 1 1/2 seasons (with the half season being plagued with personal trouble).
If we can package him for a major upgrade or a player with as much potential as he showed in year one...I'm all for moving him. I don't see the benefit in pawning a promising rookie (from only a season ago) for a serviceable asset that barely moves the needle for us (if at all) while we struggle to secure a play in seed.
I'm not arguing that he will return to form. Only that he's worth holding onto and figuring out what has gone wrong vs allowing someone else to get him for cheap and do the same.I 100% agree with this.

are Grimes or Okoro better than we can expect AJ to be?
No.

Even if he ultimately decides to just walk away from basketball, I'd rather gamble on him putting his life and his game back together. He was too promising last year just to pawn him for peanuts. Especially when we are a long way from contender status.
I'm in the keep AJ camp but he has to show something THIS season. We know what he is capable of, but we haven't seen that AJ since Quin got here. I mean, he even looked pretty rough during Summer League. His whole situation is very strange. I don't understand how he could look so promising as a 19 year old Rookie and then completely disappear.

I think if Capela was healthy and Jalen was more on his game we would have won. The Clips are honestly the best team in the NBA. 26-5 over their last 31 games. That's a statement loss if there is such a thing.
Even without Cap, JJ finishing half of those baskets at the rim gives the Hawks the advantage. Heck, if he drew contact and got to the line, that could've been the difference.

Really impressed with the Hawks right now. It they keep playing like this after the break they can absolutely make a run to the 6th seed, imo.
Just keep getting better and playing as a team. The passing tonight was really good at times. Trae seems to be making all the right decisions.
I'm thinking they stay in the Play In but climb to the 8th spot. The chemistry and execution is reminiscent of the second half of the '20-'21 season, but they've dug themselves into a pretty deep hole.

This game beats 29 out of 30 teams. No moral victories, but no shame either.
And that's without Cap and with Hunter on a minute restriction. The Hawks are on the right track.

I'm not mad at this loss. The Hawks look legit but they played a better team.

We forget how good he has always been. Remember that dude took down both Lebron and Curry in finals in their primes.
I think he's the best 2 way wing in the league when healthy. I haven't seen anything like that Toronto run since MJ and the Bulls. He was THE best player in the NBA. And yes, LeBron was in his prime at that time.
