  1. I think he may have hurt his hand before the All Star break if I remember correctly. He hasn't been as aggressive since. The team was begging to be put out of its misery and this will pretty much allow them to lay down. Either way, it's time to focus on player development. The one positive out of this is we will get to see how Kobe looks against NBA competition and maybe get AJ back in the rotation.

These last 3 games have just been turrible.

They looked tired before the All Star break. They had the entire All Star break off and they still look tired. I don't get how they could look so good during the winning streak and just fall apart. Is OO that critical?

What happens when a guy doesn’t have game reps for months. Play speed and practice speed are completely different.

Also wouldn’t surprise me if kid faked the injury as an act of protest against the main club for sending him down.

Shitty situation either way. Sophomore year completely wasted.

I don't think AJ is that type of person from what we've seen of him so far. The game aired live on YouTube yesterday afternoon and AJ didn't look disgruntled or anything. He was actually playing well before he went down.

The 11:45 minute mark is interesting:

    Consistently compete

Connect as a team: play together, share the ball, move the ball.

Connect on defense to just be average, stay in front of the ball. The guy guarding the ball has to make the first stop then the help can come.

Interesting on Hunter - not over extending him and bringing him back in a smart way.

That's all I ask. Just play league average defense through 4 quarters for the rest of the season. The offense is more than enough to be in contention for the 6th seed and beyond.

OO MUST start and play 30 plus minutes a game over the final 27 games, or however many when he gets back.  He and JJ also need to be attached at the hip.  They should both be on the floor together a majority of the time.

The question with Kobe is whether you want him playing 8-10 minutes a game in Atlanta or playing 25 minutes a night at College Park working on the things they want him to work on.

Kobe's defense alone fills an immediate need for the Hawks. Kobe and Forrest are the best defenders in the Hawks' backcourt and Forrest is pretty much unavailable at this point. Kobe needs to be on the court in place of Garrison.

The Hawks still have an opportunity to at least move up in the Play In. 8th - 6th seed is a pipe dream at this point. I'm counting ~14-15 potential wins remaining. They may steal one or two against a better team, but they are guaranteed to lose games they have no business losing as well. The last two games against Chicago and Charlotte were tough to watch.

    1. 14-13

    2. Play In, most likely 10th possibly 9th. I just want the Hawks to show some fight and make the postseason.

    Edit:

    3. Absolutely YES to the Playoffs. Anything can happen with Trae healthy. The Celtics series went to 6 last season even after DJ got himself suspended.

McClungs last year dunk contest was nice than before that it had to be the Lavine vs Gordon dunk contest and when Smoove won it yeaars prior. Only 3 good ones in the last 20 years.

Lavine vs Gordon was really good but they kept screwing Gordon to the point he refused to participate anymore. The NBA can't afford to alienate legit contestants like that.

They need to make the 3pt contest the final event.

That may happen. The days of multiple All Stars participating in the Slam Dunk Contest are over. Vince Carter, Steve Francis, and Tracy McGrady being in the same dunk contest in 2000(?) was the last time that happened, I think.

Get in there next year JJ.
