  1. I don't get why some people try to find out so much about movies before they go and see them for themselves. No matter what someone says you are going to form some type of preconceived notion about the movie. As far as it being dumb or the ending being dumb, I suppose that depends on who you talk to.

Two add my two cents in. I believe movies are a lot like commercials. They cater to different people. This is based on social class,Race,Gender, Maturity level, economic class, ect. With this respect I am not sure how people can rate a movie without separating the ratings in to these classes. If you lump these all together and produce one rating then depending on who votes or who votes the most the rating will be lopsided. Case in point on this movie. This argument. I have found that the difference of opinions about Will Smith movies of late have generally been the difference between maturity levels. I believe the persuite of Happyness was a great movie but neither of my sons liked it. The thought it was dumb and boring. But they really were not mature enough to enjoy what the movie was about. I have to respect that. They are not expected to be that mature. But if I went off of there rating of the movie I would miss a movie I really enjoyed.

  2. Joe Johnson and Josh Smith didnt get much love but neither did some other guys like Devin Harris and Granger, who deserve it. LMAO @ Yi being one of the highest vote getters in the conference...there are a billion ppl in China tho lol

anyway, Im sure Johnson will get voted in and probably Devin Harris too..Smith and Granger might get left out

I will be turning in my 1250 votes on Saturday as well as picking up 2500 more. I hope that will help :helpsmilie:

  3. Yes...I'll be there in full effect. Make sure to come down if you all have the chance. There's gonna be all types of things going on. Also, if any of you have kids or know of anyone who has kids, make sure to bring them down also, as there will be a court set up for them to play on. Spread the word!!!

    I am there every year.

  4. I hear where you are coming from but I think the schedule screwed everything up this year. The practice should have been scheduled for this upcoming weekend instead of last weekend. The team had just come back from a long road trip late Friday night and then the players had to be back at Philips early Saturday morning for the open practice. Those guys haven't really had any time off since training camp started and they had just got back to town. I'm sure Woody wanted to give them a little time off to regroup for the weekend before the game on Monday. If the practice were this coming weekend, they would have been home all week.

I'll give the guys credit, they were very cordial, friendly and accomodating during the autograph session and the game show event even though I am sure they were ready to get home. Still, I know a lot of fans were looking forward to a MUCH longer scrimmage than they provided and the team needs to make sure they are accurate with the info they send out. You don't stop the scrimmage/practice at 3:00 if you say it will last until 4:30. I know some people who traveled long distances who definitely didn't get what they were promised.

Since I wrote a letter to the Hawks fan department. The apologized for the exact same reason. They also advised that they will have a paint the town read next Saturday. So that will be a chance for the "regular fans" to meet the players.

  5. Great pics B2TN, glad to see yall had a good time. Too bad i couldnt make it because i had to work. My lil bro went with the family and he said they were bored out their mind lol. Didnt even move when Mario West dunked. By the way is there any where i can see that, did anyone catch it on their phone or something

You know me and my boys were kind of disappointed this year. The practice was short and the regular fans did not get a chance to get autographs. That's the part they look fwd to every year.

  6. Kind of funny that we've talked about it.. I just got an email:

"Join the Atlanta Hawks players, coaches, and front office executives for an exclusive season ticket holder lunch, entertainment, and open practice."

    11:30AM-1:30PM Season Ticket Holder Event

1:30PM-4:00PM Doors open to the general public for practice/open house.

    Hope this helps.

Did they give you a location?

  7. There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Salim finds his way back on our team next year. I don't think he was all that great, but I will defend my thought process that he was incorrectly utilized while here. I hope he sticks somewhere else.

Well I guess you were correct.

  8. Salim a Spur?

Report: Salim Stoudamire signs with Spurs

Wire Reports - Greg Hansen, Arizona Daily Star

    Sunday, September 21, 2008

The Arizona Daily Star is reporting that Salim Stoudamire, the ex-Arizona Wildcat, has left the Atlanta Hawks — and now will play for the Spurs. The wire report comes late Sunday evening. The Spurs have not confirmed the signing with an official announcement.

Still, Greg Hansen reports that the shooting star has signed and is expected to replace the three-point shooting threat of Brent Barry and perhaps Robert Horry.

Stoudamire is the cousin of former Spur, Damon Stoudamire. He was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round (31st overall pick) of the 2005 NBA Draft. At the University of Arizona, Stoudamire led the Wildcats to an Elite Eight appearance in 2005 (he and Channing Frye were the first four-year players at UA not to make a Final Four appearance since the 1980s).

Stoudamire broke the individual three-point percentage record (shot 50.4%), previously held by former Spur and Arizona alumnus Steve Kerr.

"In three years with the dismal Hawks," writes Hansen. "Stoudamire averaged just 17 minutes per game and was often slowed by a chronic ankle injury. His career average is eight points per game.

"Perhaps an organization as effective as the Spurs will change Stoudamire’s career path... Perhaps Salim’s rep as a clubhouse malcontent will change — it will probably have to change; he will have to adapt — as he becomes a role player on a team with superstars Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan."

    Salim now a Spur

    Greg Hansen

Salim Stoudamire has escaped pro basketball’s burial grounds — the Atlanta Hawks — and now will play for a winner.

The ex-Wildcat shooting star has signed with the San Antonio Spurs and is expected to replace the three-point shooting threat of Brent Barry and perhaps Robert Horry.

In three years with the dismal Hawks, Stoudamire averaged just 17 minutes per game and was often slowed by a chronic ankle injury. His career average is eight points per game.

Perhaps an organization as effective as the Spurs will change Stoudamire’s career path. Winning is contagious, right? Perhaps Salim’s rep as a clubhouse malcontent will change — it will probably have to change; he will have to adapt — as he becomes a role player on a team with superstars Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan.

If he does, Salim could spent another 10 years in the league as a Steve Kerr-type specialist and make millions of dollars.

Well I for one will hate to see this. But I hope he at least gets some playing time.

  10. Dont get me wrong my man, I'm by no means questioning anyone's faith as a fan. Everyone knows we need more of 'em around here. I'm simply bringing you what I know, as an owner of over 200 jerseys - including swing man, authentic, and player-worn. I've been ripped off with fakes before, and paid a decent amount for them in the process - Just looking out for you and making sure you don't get ripped off in the future.

Yeah sorry bout that. Like I said I jump to conclusions a lot. I am used to reading body language and voice pattens to see what people mean. When I am reading I have no way to tell what the motive behind things are. So it leaves me to form my own opinion. That's why I stay away from posting so much. I just read. But also on your part you have to be careful of how you approach people. You could have just asked if I got a good deal. Because once people have purchased something they rarely want to hear that they have been made a fool of. So putting them on blast kinda makes people upset. In my case I was not upset because I knew my situation. I was just thinking that I was getting to the root of why there is so much bickering here on the board. I really was not trying to go off. But that is a problem I have. People say I have a tendency to make people feel small. It is not my intent. So I usually try to refrain from immediate comment. But we still cool.

  11. I personally like going to the CNN center early and putting back a couple of those giant 44oz beers from Gordons (whatever that place on the corner is called, opposite of Great Wraps). Sometimes I'll go for one 44oz and one 32oz. That usually keeps me happy throughout the game :) I can't bring myself to spend 7 or 8 bucks on a 12oz beer inside the stadium.

I only wish they would show a pregame show on the giant TV in the CNN center instead of whatever crap they usually have on.

Me personally I like the free stuff they used to give out. Like the bobble heads etc. I also like the Kiss cam until they play the same ones over and over again. Except when they put it to the players. I love that each and every time. Other than that I just love being around other Hawks fans.

  12. Talk about overreaction. He was just noting that they weren't storebought. I don't think he was questioning you as a fan.

Even still, WOW @ that collection. That's the most Hawks stuff I've seen outside of Philips.

Yeah I tend to over elaborate at times. That's why I keep my comments to a minimum. I don't know that I was over reacting. Maybe I was who is to say. I just wonder why people say and do what they do. As I read through post after post. I often wonder if people think about what they are saying or if they just say the first thing that comes to mind. I just wonder if there is a method to the madness or if it is just random thoughts. I guess I am like the Matrix, it is the why that drives me.

  13. I really REALLY dont mean to sound like an A-hole, but those jerseys (save for the dominique throwback) are fakes. I hope you didnt pay too much for them.

Question? Would that make me more or less of a fan? I am sure that they do not make a Smoovehighlight jersey so one would venture to say that these jerseys are not store purchased. As a matter of fact both Nique and Smoove got a kick out of it as they signed it. Better yet the whole team liked it as they passed it around and looked at it. My sons, Man that was they highlight of they year for them. To own a one of a kind ( well 3 of a kind since we all have one) Jersey signed by their idol. I try to figure out what would be the purpose of you making that comment? Would it be to make me feel bad if I did pay a lot or is it to say that I am somewhat less of a fan for having them. What is real or fake anyway? Are the swing man jerseys fake? for that matter when you go the the store at the arena and order the player that you want because it is not on display, would those be fake. Is it fake because they were not worn by the player? Is the material fake? I am really not sure what point you were trying to make here other than trying to rain on someone's parade. Could you enlighten me? Now to make you feel better no I did not pay a lot for these jerseys. I had them made so that I could have them signed by my favorite player when I saw them. I thought it would be a lot better than a piece of paper. And for my son's, they meant the world. So I hope for the kids sake that when you see them with it on you will not spoil their joy by making it a pointless point to point out that they are not authentic. I sure hope that you are a better person than that because you sure did not display that here.

  14. Awesome! How did you go about getting all your jerseys signed? Was it a long process, or do you have a nice hookup where you get to meet the players?

The process is not that long. I go to the open practice they have every year and a few autograph sessions through out the year. and sometimes I go to the games early and get them signed. If you remember one game I was on TV when Horford signed his. He was walking off of the court and I got his attention. I was on TV the last few sec before commercial.

  15. Thought it'd be cool to see what Hawks jerseys everyone has, if any. I don't have one yet, and still can't decide who to get. Probably going to go with Smoove or Bibby... or Horford.

Post your other ball jerseys if you want. I have a Webber Kings throwback jersey, with the old Kansas City Kings color scheme (red white and blue). Don't have a picture at work to post right now.

Of course I have a 'Nique through back

    I also have:

    Horford Home

Josh Smith away blue/white and red/white

    Marvin Williams red/white

    Josh Chilldress red/white

    Joe Johnson red/white and allstar

and Yes I have a Salim Stoudamire Away White/Red

I also have a custom Jersey with Josh smith on front and 'nique on back that says Smoovehighlights.

each and every jersey is signed by the players. Including my smoovehighlights jearsy is signed by both Nique and Josh.

I have a Hawks warm up from the red days.

I have a josh smith white/red swing man jersey.

I have a lot of hawks shirts one signed by the whole team.

I also have several Statues and Bobble heads. post-73-1219250995_thumb.jpg

Sorry it is rare that I get to brag about my jersey's so I had to jump at this chance.

  16. During my high school days I worked at the airport. I was a serious Magic fan. I think I met every NBA player but Magic. Since I worked at the airport and saw so many "VIPs" I was not really into pictures and autographs. But when the Lakers were in town I was always equipped with my Magic shirt, sharpie and camera. I meet all of the Hawks every year. I have all of my jersey's, Bobble heads, posters,Basketballs, Statues, Pictures and other things signed by several hawks players. Of course I see 'Nique from time to time. I must agree he is an amazing guy. I don't think I could take all of that attention. I remember he talked to me for about 2 hours about a year back. I was frustrated with the amount of times we were interrupted for pictures and autographs. It did not even seem to bother him at all. That is true greatness.

Since I can not edit my post I will post a new one. Here are some pic's of Nique and I. He was signing one of my Statue's.
