  1. Yeah I like it also. But I go to a lot of games and I get kinda tired of seeing the same thing over and over again. I like the people walking around giving out free stuff and getting a section loud. I think they need more of them just keeping noise in the arena. To make it at least sound like we have a packed crowd. What I do think we need in conjunction with or instead of the thundersticks is the wavy ballons they used to have. Some more time out shows and halftime showes. Like I said I go to alot of games I can almost predict what is going to happen. But I think the entertainment is for the occasional fan not the full fledge fans. Cause we are there for the game experience anyway.

  2. Let’s completely blow up the team trade everyone that is on the team now. Fire the coach and the GM. Oh yeah we need new owners cause they don't know what they are doing. Completely rebuild the team with your new GM. Make sure you get young players that can grow together. Make sure you get a coach that can handle new young players. Then give them bout 3 years to gel. But before they have enough time to work together for various reasons lets start the process all over again. This will make sure that Squawkers have something to talk about for ages to come. Completely satisfying both the optimist and the pessimist all at the same time. An ingenious plan in the making. Who'd-a-thunk-it. We keep you excited long enough to make you come to the games. When you tire of it we get you excited once again. An ever spinning wheel. The best part about it no one would be the wiser.

    Does that seem familure.

Give the team some time people. Please.

  3. This would probably make Salim our Boris Diaw of 07. But I like the change of scenery anyway plus we get a big. I get tired of getting punked in the low. I like Zaza he has heart but I don't think the talent is all there. Give the man a little help cause lo sure as hell is not doing it. For some reason it just seems like we have one center and I hate to see Z get a foul. Cause a few more and we are assed out.

  4. does it seem like since the rebuilding of the Hawks (post Nique era) that whenever a coach gets notices for his shortcomings (Terrible use of good talent) we seem to get plagued with injuries? I mean think about it. It has happend with Lon Kruger, Terry Stott’s, Lenny Wilkins, and now Woodson. We always have strange injuries also. No broken bones (that’s a good thing mind you). Just springs, pulls and fractures(Not that I wish this on any player or anyone for that matter). This is always an excuse or reason for holding on to this coach for that much longer.

No don’t put me on the fire Mike Woodson bandwagon because I don’t have my ticket yet. However it seems to be the popular consciences on this board.

It seems as if I have fell victim of the injuries alibi once again. With the kind hart that I have, I wanna see what this man can do with all of his tools. I mean I would not hire an auto mechanic and give him my incomplete set of tools then judge him on the S___ty job he does. Not a fair judgment on my part. But dang it just seems like the same story different cast. I hope everyone knows by now that I love the Hawks I really do but D@mn enough is enough. When can I go see my family and friends with my head held high for a change? I hate to go to Chicago or Memphis and hear the same line, “you still a Hawks Fan LOL” “Just give up and fallow a real team.” “they have never been anything and never will”. What do I have to say year after year after year, “just wait till next year we have new this new that gave up this gave up that now we have “Potential””. Can someone please help me? I can only take so much.

Sorry bout that I was just venting. Thinking about it gives me a headache. Just wanted to get that out and see what the board has to say.

and forget to tape it you can still watch it....for free.

    Just sign up here

    http://www.nba.com/broadband/league_pass.jsp

and you can watch any game that has been played within the last 48 hours. It is basically a tape delayed version of League Pass.

For example if you wanted to watch last nights Nets/Lakers game you could just sign up and watch it now. You can also fast forward it if you just want to see the second half or certain parts of the game.

If you already have paid for League Pass then you can watch a hawks game live even if you are traveling, as long as you can find a broadband internet connection.

    Pretty cool.

Does anyone know if this still works?

  6. I understand the moral. I know we are all frustrated. But I love this board. It is like a mini soap opera. You have your drama; you have your comedy and its all for one common concern. We are one big family from the one we all love to hate, to watching our little children grow up. I just wanted to add my little tid-bit to try to keep us all grounded until the Hawks fly high.

I can't believe how horrible LO Wright has been. He really is pretty much useless and no help whatsoever to our team. Its pretty sad. He played better last year for Memphis. What the hell is wrong with him. HE looks old and slow out there and couldn't hit a FT if his life depended on it. Terrible signing that everyone including me thought would be at least solid at the time. He just hasn't produced anything for us.

This brings a good question to mind. How long does it take a player to develop chemistry? My thoughts it would depend on the position. I.E it would take a lot longer for a PG to learn the playing styles, player speed how they need to receive the ball to maximize shot selection ECT. But a Center; you need to know week sides, how a player defends and when to back him up. Other than that your job does not change from team to team. I am not sure how hard it would be for a Center on offence. All you basketball geniuses please feel free to help me out.

  8. quote] do you see trends?

Yeah I see the trends I see the streks but I know that they have to play ball for a whole season at a time. You can't run a marathon at full speed the whole way. Don't get me wrong I have threw many a fits watching the game (knowing that I would or would not have done what they did being the pro that I am grin.gif) because I was fustrated. But I do understand that 1) this is a young team. 2) They have not been playing that long together. 3)This is the begining of the season not even a full 2 months 1/4 of the games. These things keep me sane. I gives me hope for the second half of the season. We are still in this.

  9. What are we trying to accomplish here on our board? As you can see I have been a "member" of the board for quite a while with relatively very few posts. I love to read from you guys your opinions, your fustrations, your GM caliber trade ideals, ECT. What I don't understand is what is there to argue about? I assume that, except for the occasional visitors that everyone on Hawksquawk is a fan. We are all hoping, suggesting, wanting, and waiting for a better team always.

Now understanding the exchange of ideals, fustrations and opinions, I just want to know where all this judgment is coming from. I mean if LeBron breaks Wades ankles and dunks on O’Neal does that say that Shaq should not be a starting center because he can’t back up his guard and defend the lane. If Kobe scores 80 points by himself does that say the other coach did not assess the situation and make what he felt were the necessary changes ? What I am saying is great things happen but not that often. More often a team may play sub-par and most of the time just average. But what do you really want from your team? I just want a competitive game more wins then losses and I hope for a Championship. But think about it if Jordan and the Bulls won every single game for 6 seasons, I would not watch the NBA anymore. What for? You know the outcome. People, Lue is not going to be hot every night nor is JJ. J Smooth is still young and young people make young mistakes. That is not just in basketball. The same goes for most of our team. Now I have suffered the past 8 years along side the rest of you. The sad part is the fans have suffered a lot longer than anyone in the organization. We can’t judge our players on a few games if you do we will have a team full of Jon Koncaks, Alan Henderson’s, and Chris Crawford’s. Give the team a chance. Wait till all the pieces are together the way it was designed. Then give your opinions on the design.

Until you have all the information surrounding what you see, let’s not make judgments let’s just keep it to opinions. I hope this makes since I was trying to give you the abridge version on what I am trying to say. I can get long winded.

  10. I have my room painted in Hawks colors with all the free stuff that I get from games posted all over the walls. I used to keep player posters however having posters of Boris D,Dan D, Dione Glover, Jason Terry just don't seem to go well in the room. But now they want to change the colors?!!?!?!?! I can deal with new logos I mean I have two different logos anyway, But not the colors. I would have to start all over. None of my free stuff would match the new colors. What is a fan to do?

  11. I am just going to through my week two cents in here. Imho when you have a Sun it makes stars seem a little dull. That being said whenever you have a superstar someone that would otherwise have shined due to necessity takes a back seat. To use another metaphor if you are right-handed, you use your right hand so much that your left hand does not get as strong. This is because it is not forced to live up to its potential. I think that the absence of JJ (the right hand) would have forced the left hand (JS, MW, JC, ECT). To say that Bk did a bad job would be inconclusive at this juncture.

  12. I would not say I was critical of him nor had any high expectations of him for that matter. What I was upset/disappointed with was the trivial mistakes he made. I mean I played the 3 sometimes 4 position for whatever short lived career I had in basketball. I don't know how much of this was player and how much of this was coach but when I played once I received a rebound the very next motion or thought was look for the open/running guard. To see smooth going coast to coast was like watching a man in a dress. It just did not feel right. To watch Smooth jump out of the building on the first pump fake just made my flesh crawl. Yes he has a lot of blocked shots but any player knows that once you leave your feet you are out of the play. If I get you to jump no matter how slow I am I have you beaten now; thus the use of a pump fake. The third thing that stands out to me was the 3pt shooting. Granted the end of last year he was butta. I think at some point in time any one shooting a basketball that misses 3 in a row will change something, even if it’s the mistake of passing instead of shooting. But it seems as if he will shoot 1 for 10 if it took that long to get a shot. That was my frustration not my criticism of Josh Smith.

  13. Ok I know he shoots a lot and sometimes at bad times. That’s all relative. Cause sometimes I see Joe taking some shots that I would rather have seen something else happen but when it goes in no one notices. Take the same shot selection from Smooth if they go in no one complains. It’s all relative. Now my complaint and it seems no one notices this, Why in the hell is Josh taking the ball coast to coast? I have seen this happen oh too many times. He can not dribble if he does not loose the ball before he gets to the other side he is not ever able to finish. How does a coach sit on the side and watch this? Is it me; or unless your the only one down court or you are a guard type player it is/should be instinctive to get the ball to a ball handler. I hate it every time he does it why is he still on the court to do it back to back. I have been to a game and he would do it twice in one quarter where is my coach. I want to go down and take him out my d@mn self. Yes I am upset at this. I was/am a josh smith fan. But dang enough is enough. I would love him to get better, to be our franchise player but at what coast. COACHES PLEASE SHOW HIM THE ER OF HIS WAYS. Manufacture him a highlight film of his mistakes and ask “Did you see that?” don’t do that ____ anymore.

  14. I was hoping you would do this again. How ironic, this will be the first home game I miss this year(no not a season ticket holder yet, my pockets are not that deep). I will be out of town visiting the old home of the Hawks. Yup I will be in St. Louis. Me and my boys will just have to find a local sports bar and root for the home team past and present.

  15. When he runs it causes movement in his hand which in turn creates a minor discomfort. This is a distraction and he can no longer concentrate on running thus not getting the full benefit of running. Until he could get the full benefit of running he could not get in to game shape. You have to give the man a break; he was at home and could not use his finger to control the remote he had to totally rely on voice commands for all the electronic devices in his home.
