  1. I have two uncles that are season ticket holders in Memphis. Both would be happy to see Pau go. They laughed at us for taking Wright last year and they are begging us to take Pau this year. What that tells us I don't know but look what we got in Wright last year after they laughed at us. With this said. I want to give them as little as possible and I definantly don't want to disrupt any starter on our team.

  2. When all looks lost reboot. Been there done that. We need something else. The reboot has not worked. We need to rework. I have an ideal. Lets revamp the coaches contract and make it based on his wins. You get paid per game. Kind of like getting paid hourly vs salary. The games you win you get full pay the games you loose you get half pay. While you are at it lets do the same for the players. The blow out games you get over time. I think we see more wins what do you think. Lets work on fan participation. Lets utilize some of our tax write-offs. Lets do some give aways and promo's. Some contest some better entertainment. Well I will say more entertainment how about that. Fill the stands so the team can have someone to play for and feel good for when they win. How about selling your players to the fans. Make them local hero's so the kids just have to see them. I think we can work on the intangibles and get this team back on target. And lets leave Microsoft out of this.

Mike Woodson is a terrible coach, but if anybody thinks Salim is ever going to become a 34 mpg guy in the NBA, they're kidding themselves. He cannot create his own shot, he plays bad defense (despite what the Salimophiles say, "he's an underrated defender," yeah yeah I've seen him play and that's BS...he gambles and gets a steal occasionally but usually he gets burned), and bad things tend to happen when he puts the ball on the floor. . Guys like him are expected to play limited minutes and hit shots. If he can't hit shots with limited minutes, he doesn't belong in the NBA.

Dude, you are trippin'. I remember not so long ago we could not figure out for the life of us why Josh Smith was chucking up 3's that he would rarely make. Yes he had a short run where he made some but he did not make nearly enough to take them at will as he did. Then even more recently even sometimes now when Josh is driving with the ball it makes you wanna go down and smack every decision maker on the bench. And let’s not talk about how Josh Commits at almost every shot to make the block and when he misses he is burned in the worst way because he has jumped so high that he can not get back into play. Now he is either going to foul or his man has blew buy him and scored. To quote you "he gambles on the block and gets a block occasionally but usually he gets burned and bad things usually happen when he puts the ball on the floor." However all hail praises go to J-smooth because he has numbers. Yes he has numbers he has more PT and because of it he has become more patient with his shot selections, less anxious with his dribbles and an all-around better ball player. Bottom line more PT creates better B-Ball IQ thus making a better player out of those with the talent. You can train until you are blue in the face but until you are in a live situation you don’t know what you can do. So to all the slim haters, you have to identify with the man. He sits in the expensive seats and when his number is called he wants to shine. No I am not going to go on the floor and just pass the ball to the star and waste my five min of fame shoot I am out there trying to become a super star and if I have to shoot until you see it so be it but before I sit down and get traded or sent to d’league I am going to try something. Give the man some PT and you will see that chucking go down a more consistent shot form and as a result of that a better ball passer. Use your brain silly, quit hating.

  4. You know I was begining to think that I was the only salim fan. People always give me that questioned look when I ware his Jearsey. As if being a hawks fan wasn't enough. I had to add to it buy waring a non starters Jearsey. But I love his speed his quick shot and ball handleing. I just wish the coach could see what I see. But then again Soloman would be in the line up also.

  5. As long as I have been on this board I could not figure out where to post this post. Well I have 4 Tickets for Sale for Saturdays game. Sec 206 Row c seats 11-14. I will let them go for $60 or a Josh Smith Bobble Head just in case someone here has it. I am trying to complete my collection. PM me or contact me however you feel is best. I will not be able to answer until about 10 PM today however I will look at the time the first message was sent to me and contact you back in that order. Thanks and if this is the incorrect etiquette for this board please forgive me. I usually want tickets not sale them.

  6. Can we please stop quoting Hotlanta1981 I have him blocked and I still have to see his nonsense. I wish his parents would let him out of the attic so he can go play with the other kids. When he learns to share and play well with others then maybe he will have a more positive outlook on life. But for now playstation/Xbox seem to have clouded his judgment and distorted his basketball IQ.

  7. I am a bit confused. I am not sure you are saying Chill is a poor defender, rather stating that GS had his number as the Nets had JJ's number. Yes I was fustrated last night when people were blowing buy him at will. But this is not a nightly occurance. Or is it and I just can't see it because I see the offence in him so much?

  8. Not really. I know a few people that won't go to the game when it’s free. Saying they are not going to win anyway. Or who are they playing. They will then say. When they start to win I will go to the games. So yes Freeloaders do turn down freebies. But what you can count on is ignorant people always being ignorant.

Dang, did it again. I did not know who I was replying to. Sorry bout that.

I'm sick of these BS lies that "the people of Atlanta are dying for good basketball". I'm tired of reading it here and I'm definitely tired of hearing people call in on radio shows and say it. It's just a bunch of bullshit. All those people who pretend like they are clamoring for good basketball were nowhere to be seen during the 90's when we had consistent 50 win playoff teams. They weren't showing up at the games then either, even the playoff games, which we couldn't sell out. Most of those people who claim to be anxious for good ball show how full of [censored] they are by saying "the hawks haven't been good since Nique"...

So stop spreading this false notion that winning is all it takes in this city. It isn't and it hasn't been for nearly 20 years now and that's a fact.

Chillz, that’s why I take the old fashion fan approach, I am at the game even when we are on a 7 game loosing streak. I am usually at the first and last game of the season be it a 13 game season or a 40 game season. I sport my Hawks apparel every opportunity I get. But does that make me more of a fan than my friends that have their Hawks apparel tucked neatly away waiting for a 4-1 start of a season. When they have to through it back in the wash to get the dust and smell off. I don't know. I guess it is difficult to define a "Fan". I watch many of games with my brother but he will not attend a game unless I buy him a ticket. But when I buy him a ticket he never terns it down. He just doesn’t want to spend his money on a struggling franchise. I on the other hand want to help a struggling franchise get back on their feet. Our motivations are different. He thinks that if we don't support them and give them money they will see this and improve. I think that if we show them support and they see we have their back no matter what they will step up to the plate and improve. Same desire same love different tactics. That’s why you have not seen my brother on this board in years. But I am hear almost everyday. No it does not take me a million posts to get my point across or to bond with my fellow fans but I am here.

  10. They say never argue with a fool because people watching can't tell the difference. You have once again suckered me into responding to one of your post. I thought there was a possibility of having an adult conversation with you. I stand corrected. I admit I made a mistake and I truly apologize for granting you the opportunity to make a bigger fool of yourself. Never again should I put you in harms way. As a "Hawks Fan" I owe you that much respect.

Check ANY TEAM in the league who was horrible for 7 years and still sold out and had lots of fans consistently.

Try the Nuggets, Clippers, Kings back in the day, the Mavericks, the Heat, Orlando, check out ALL those teams before they were winning, it's the SAME situation..

it's funny that you didn't address this comment.

As to your little "Kings" comment, why don't you check their attendance in the mid 90s before they went to the playoffs and had been horrible for many years..

It's not all about attendance. The Atlanta crowd is a passionless and emotionless bunch. It was shown at the allstar game even. I remember people talking about how dead the Atlanta crowd was.

Like I said, everybody realizes it but the people on this board.

Every time I read this All-Star talk it just makes me shake my head. Do you realize how dumb you sound to think that the only people in attendance at the all-star game were Atlanta fans? I guess the only people at the super bowl were from Miami? I really wish that you would stop and think about what you are saying. Then to repeat it several times gives me the impression that you don't have the ability of forethought. You just wonder aimlessly through life reacting to every word said and every action taken with the first thing that comes to mind. And with the 8 years that you have been on this earth your mind does not seem to have a variaty of first thoughts.

  12. What's the excuse for the allstar game in Atlanta? All the fans were sick that night?

    ______________________________________________________________

I will answer the all star question. First of all a lot of the people at the all-star game were not from Atlanta. You do realize that this is a national event? A second note (well not a second note it has been repeated time after time in this post alone. It just takes a little comprehension.) The Atlanta Fans don't have anything to cheer for. At the all-star game we would be cheering for another team. Now if we were loud and cheerful at that game I would then question whether or not you were a Hawks fan.

  13. I mean it is painstakingly obvious. If we tank and are the worst team in the NBA buy a margin of 10 games there is still a possibility of getting the 4th or 5th pick. However winning is something we have more control over. We can get motivated and just try try try. Fans can even go to the games and Help motivate them. You know that is not against the rules. We can upset some teams we can gain confidence go on winning streaks just flat out win if its by 1 point or by 20. It’s possible because anything is possible on any given night. If it is not someone let me know so I can quite watching now. There would be no use if we know the outcome of all the games.

Did you clap when one of the players at those games went down injured? That seems to be the point of the anger, here.

    Otherwise, well-written post.

No I did not clap or celebrate any injuries. Yes I believe that it is immoral to celebrate the injury of any living thing. Like I stated some of us post without for-thought. Not realizing the impact of what we are saying but just saying what our emotions lead us to say. No I don't condone this guy’s action nor would I condone my children bragging about anything they have to the kids on the block. I do know that this will happen because they are not trained with the for-thought to understand the effectiveness of what they are saying only the repercussions of the broken rules set by an authority figure.

First of all if you love your forum and team as much as you all claim you do, then you would donate out of the goodness of your hearts instead of stooping so low as to try to bribe moderators.

    Tru dat, tru dat

What classifies a person as a true hawks fan anyway? I mean when you abandon the team when they are loosing then are back on board when they win. I think we call those band wagon fans. So I think a real fan sticks with it through and through. GO to the games, support your team. I think if we always had a full arena our team would get better and Vice/versa

What makes you a hawksquawker? Posting a few thousand posts? Coping and pasting stats? Having an opinion? Or just trying to read to get information, rumors, and just trying to see if others feel the way you do.

I don't know the answers but what I do know is when I was struggling in college, the people I called supporters were those who helped me financially those who put in time to make sure I had what I needed and those who gave sound advice. Those that repeated my problems to me, complained about how bad I was doing and not coming to boost me up, I just saw them as people talking and nothing more.

With that said I would like you to sit down and ask yourself what kind of fan am I. Am I a talker or a squawker? Cause some of you are talking out the side of your neck and just saying things for the sake of saying them. Just put a little thought in to what you are saying.

I am not complaining about anyone. I love the controversy, I love the adversity. If everyone was always sympathetic with the hawks this would be a boring site. As a matter of fact I will go out on a limb to say that people like phx_suns make being a fan that more interesting. Like going to a Hawks/Knicks game with your hawk’s jersey and knicks fans all around you. Or like when I was in Memphis I sat in my uncles season ticket seats as red as I could be, as hawkish/hawksquawkish as I could be. I made the most noise I could make and I taunted the fans and players as if I was at Phillips.

It’s the only kid on the block with ice-cream, the "I got what you can't have", and the "my team is better than yours" syndrome. It is life folks. It is what we all love about having a favorite team. Without it the game is just a game. So enjoy it. Embrace it and stand proud as a Hawks/Hawksquawk fan. Stick your Hawk scribed chest out and beat on it as only a true Hawks fan could.

I love you guys. Now make me proud. Go to the games. Support the admin. Be a true fan.

  16. I must add my 2 cents in to defend the Admin. We have readers that are not registered to Hawksquawk reading all day. They contribute not even a comment. We have people posting non stop with thousands of post. We have admin that have a job of their own. They have volunteered to be of service so that we as fans, those that are trolls, and people that are just interested in seeing what’s going on have a place to visit. If all the admin are asking is for them not to have to come out of their pockets in addition to their time then, I feel there should be no questions asked. Money should pour in. Especially for those with upwards of 3 and 4 thousand post. This is our home and a little maint. is expected. And we should all help out. With that said; I am going to give my $20 right now.
