Yeah, Chandler would have to come back to Atl. Or in the other versions, Magloire or PJ Brown would come back to Atl, too.
-
If the Bulls are really considering Troy Murphy, then we might could get in with them and GS on a 3-way trade.
---------------------------------------------------------
GS trades: Murphy, Biedrins (or Ellis), 2007 1st
GS receives: Al Harrington, John Edwards, Ivey (maybe)
---------------------------------------------------------
Chi trades: Chandler
Chi receives: Murphy
---------------------------------------------------------
Atl trades: Al Harrington, John Edwards, Ivey (maybe)
Atl receives: Biedrins (or Ellis), 2007 1st
---------------------------------------------------------
If Chicago would not do that, then maybe we could put the Bucks (Magloire) or NO (PJ Brown) in their place. That way we would get a big man who is also expiring.
-
We could do a three way, that is true. But we will still have to take on salary somewhere.
-
Which big contract from GS would you rather have? Foyle?
-
I agree. It is a tough question. For one, I really like the idea of signing Wallace b/c he would instantly make the Hawks popular and would quite possibly make the Hawks a very good team. On the other hand, Wallace may be about washed up and would ruin the Hawks cap.
-
Changing your mind about getting Wallace already, or is this just hypothetical like my thread from just a moment ago?
-
I think we would have to take one of their long expensive contracts to make the trade work. Maybe Murphy?
-
Definately a possibility. It is just such a relief to now have OPTIONS. We now have a team that is two deep at almost every position (except maybe center). Like others have said, we can now trade Al for the best deal and not just for what we lack.
-
Like I said, not saying that this is something I necessarily want to do. But it sure is interesting to think about. We would legitimately be two deep at every position and would definately increase ticket sales with Big Ben.
-
Maybe Magloire and an unprotected 1st (or a protected 2007 1st and a future protected first)? That way the Bucks could get a PG back after losing Ford.
-
I like Lue and think he is a great backup and leader for our Hawks....but he is just not a defender. Besides Al, Lue was probably our worst defender last year. He is too small and consistently get beat by other point guards.
-
I wonder if the Pistons would SnT Wallace to us for Al?
To be honest, I am not sure that I even want to do this, but it could be a possibility. That trade would be better than for PJ Brown IMO.
-
Switch that with Biedrins and make the first unprotected and I would be very happy. Then we could still sign another good point and playoffs would look quite possible.
-
Sounds like he is already prepared mentally (and in PR) to be a Hawk!
-
Sorry if this has already been posted, but what did BK say on the FSN interview?

I don't really have in a dog in this fight, but I was wondering, how do we know for sure that Sheldon will be a 4. Can he not play any minutes at the 5. Is it possible that we might be picking him because we are confident he can play the 5. At the worst, it could be possible that he would split time at the 4/5. If Sheldon did that, he would play roughly 15-20 min at the 4 every night. Then there would be around 76 min for Marvin and Smoove to split at the 3/4. That seems like enough time for me for everyone to play plenty of minutes.
Heres to hoping we will have plenty of depth next year.

Are you related to Hotlanta?

They still make me sad.

I don't want you guys to get me wrong. I think Chill is the better player right now than Donta. I am just not sure by how much. That is hard for me to say b/c Chill is my favorite Hawk. But like you said Exodus, the defense that Donta is capable of could prove to be very valuable, especially considering what Chill could bring back in a trade. But I will still be happy if the Hawks keep Chill (I just want to do whatever it takes to get the team to win).

9. I definately think that one of the bigs could be Andersen. I would even be happy if the Hawks got Sheldon or Bargnani, Andersen, another cheaper big (maybe Jackie Butler) and then traded Al for a point (maybe Andre Miller).
To me, three bigs is even better than two. They will all get playing time. Plus, I think competition for PT is good. And it would be great trying to figure out which person to play instead of praying to find another person to see if they can play (hope that made sense).

Most everyone here knows that I am an avid reader of this site, but tend to "listen" more than post. Doing this recently has given me the chance to figure out what I really think about the current Hawks' topics.
1. I think that the Hawks need to keep the 5th pick and get the best player available. To me, that would be Bargnani, Roy, and then Shelden.
2. I think that the AI trade will not be helpful unless the Hawks only had to trade Al / Childress.
3. Childress is possibly my favorite Hawk. With that said, I think that trading him in the above trade or by himself for another lottery pick to pick up a point or big would be beneficial.
4. I think that Donta could probably give similar production as Chill if Chill is traded.
5. I think the Al for Magloire trade (only if it is a straight up trade) is a very good deal.
6. I think that the forward combo of JSmith and Marvin will be a lot better than most think. I know I will be accused of homerism, but after watching the Hawks at the end of last season, I really believe that Marvin is going to be a force sooner than later. His ability to beat his man and get to the free throw line will make him a star (and we all know that getting to the stripe is important in the playoffs...see Dwayne Wade).
7. I think that the ownership situation is very scary. While I hope that the Spirit will prevail, I fear that Belkin has a very good chance to take over.
8. I think that Al needs to be SnT at all costs. While he is a good player, Al is just not what the Hawks need. Watching our young guys play at the end of the season (mostly without Al) was very refreshing and gave me hope for the future.
9. I think that the Hawks have a good chance to make the playoffs next year provided we get two bigs and a point (the do not have to be stars). I am also taking into consideration in this assumption the Spirit will keep the team.
10. I think that this site is my favorite to check out on the net and I am very proud to be a member of the Squawk. Also, I think it would be great to have the chance to meet some of you guys. Maybe we will be lucky enough to have another invite from the owners this year.

Hope you all like it.

If you watched this........you get a star!!!

I am definately up for playing if we do this again.
Shug did a great job last year. Everything ran smoothly and most "teams" actually made their picks (and if not, Shug would choose for them in a timely manner).
Oh, and how are we deciding on who gets what team?
If it is by first dibbs............
then I got us!!!!!!!!
Hey, I'm joking.....but seriously...... I do want to be the Hawks GM! Even if it is for only a couple of days.
PS -- whoever guesses what quote I stole, and from where I stole it, gets a star
Possible 3-way to get our big and move Al to GS

This trade doesn't necessarily have to involve Chandler. It could potentially involve one of two other bigs. My main question is do you all think that one of these trades could be legit. Would GS be interested? Any of the other teams that are mentioned? Which player would you want coming back to the Atl the most?
Please don't make this a thread about Chandler being good or not (I know that is part of what I am asking, I just know how people on this board like to fight about a single players worth a lot.... ie. see AI, Speedy, Mike James, etc)
